Monetary Policy Provided By Federal Reserve System
Macroeconomic sentiment
Over the past couple of years we have seen a huge surge in stock markets (Chart#1). The main
reason for such moves is Quantitative Easing monetary policy provided by Federal Reserve
System since late 2008. Purchases were halted on 29 October 2014 after accumulating $4.5
trillion in assets or 26% of GDP. The key outlook is tend to be consumer behavior, because
households spending represents two thirds of GDP, which is broadest measure of economic
activity. The job market is considerably stronger right now. Since June last year, payroll
employments expanded by $2.2 million jobs (Chart#2), which represents 2.4 percent annual rate of
increase. As a result, incomes are rising rapidly. For the same period real ... Show more content on

One more reason for such situation is recently surged value of the dollar.
Understanding the fact, that falling commodity prices and rising dollar cannot last indefinitely, and
maybe even bottomed out for now, I see a lot of perspectives within these markets in one year
period. Moreover, a lot of forecasters expect inflation to move toward two percent goal during this
year, which will result in substantial rise in commodity prices. Although, it is a controversial issue
according to the FED projections for the current and the next year, which have been lowered from
previous numbers (Table#1).
In this case, Fed is unlikely to tight money supply by increasing federal funds rate, which is currently
zero and is a frequently debatable topic. Such policy has a positive impact on a stock market.

The Film Punch Drunk Love By Paul Thomas Anderson
Sophia Marchese
Film 1010
Essay #3
October 2015
There are many aspects that go into the art of filmmaking. Almost everything that the audience
experiences in a film has significance in one way or another. Filmmakers use specific components in
order to express thoughts and ideas through their work. These fundamentals of filmmaking typically
contribute towards meaning. Audiences can draw multiple different meanings from a film, as
everyone interprets things in their own way; but ultimately an overall implicit meaning can be
understood by drawing attention to the techniques utilized by the filmmakers. This is true of the film
Punch Drunk Love, written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. This playfully twisted romantic
comedy shows the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This establishes the idea that Barry is comfortable blending in with his surroundings in order to
avoid standing out. It is the first demonstration of the character s anti social tendencies. This is also
displayed by Barry s framing in the long shot. He is positioned in the furthest corner of the room,
giving a sense that his life is confined and isolated. The shadows on the right of the frame
advance this idea of confinement by constructing the shot to make his office look almost like a
cave, in which he feels most comfortable. Barry crosses the frame to walk towards the shadow,
which eventually fills the screen with blackness until he opens the door to exit his office. This
shot presents the idea that the outside world is very different from the safety of Barry s cave.
The second shot adds to this notion, as Barry immediately witnesses a brutal car crash as soon as
he walks outside. Whenever he leaves the safety of his comfort zone, danger presents itself. This
sequence does its job to categorize the main character as someone who does not seem capable of
normal social interaction. This meaning that he is also incapable of love, or is too consumed with
anxiety to look for it. The cinematography in these preliminary shots set up meaning for the rest of
the film. They do not establish the idea that Barry will soon fall in love, but instead show a person
that is on the opposite spectrum and completely engaged by

İSMAİL KURTULMUS EVALUATİON ESSAY DR.BARBARA BROWN ENG 102 SECTİON
C 17.5.2012 Law Abiding Citizen People always say that justice is slow, but it always comes.
What happens if justice is so slow that one decides to take it in his own hands? When one loses
what he loves the most, the most precious thing in his life, and he knows who are those who are
guilty for that he starts living his life in order to make revenge. But, sometimes, like in this movie,
one can blame the whole justice system and try to revenge to all people included in it. Law Abiding
Citizen is the movie about a man whose developed sociopathic tendencies drove him into killing
while targeting not only his family s killer but also the all criminal justice system.... Show more

Acting like a spy, he is intelligent and a thinker whosespecialtiesare low impact kinetic
operations. Before the tragedy that happened to him, he was a caring husband and father, but
after he saw his wife and daughter being raped and murdered, he became an avenger and killer.
According to Steven Rea, the transformation of this character from a family person to a killer was
extraordinary played by Gerald Butler (1). In my view, this is one of his best roles ever. He
played his role so realistically that it seems that he became Clyde Shelton and stopped being
himself during the filmmaking. According to Steven Rea, Butler plays a role of an antihero who
is the only likely to gain our sympathies from all character of this movie (2). Another marvelous
role presented in this movie was the role of Nick Rice played by Jamie Fox. He played the role of
the shrewd prosecutor, whose only goal is to win the case, and this is why he makes deals with
murderers, just like he did in this case. As written in the review of the movie Law Abiding Citizen
by Roger Ebert, Nick arranges everything to have the guilty one, no matter if he has the wrong
one, what is important is to blame somebody. He is the prosecutor who is just looking at
conviction rates and trying to be best according to them. According to Roger Ebert, Jamie Fox
wasjustifiably nominated for outstanding actor in a motion picture by NAACP Image Awards (2).
Other important roles in the movie were played by Viola Davis as
The Expression Of The Arts
The Expression of the Arts
The Allegory of Music a painting by Laurent de la Hyre, a French painter from
Paris that was born in 1606 and died in 1656 in Paris. He painted the Allegory of Music in
1649 when he was about 43 years of age. La Hyre painted this painting from oil on canvas and
made the size of the painting approximately 41 5/8 x 56 3/4 in, we can observe that the amount
of detail La Hyre add to his painting, he went from darks to lights. This painting look classical
and idealized because of the clothing, the instrument and how she looks perfect in her features. I
choose this painting because I loved the use of lighting that the artist used to give shadow, to
make it more detailed. Also what catched my attention was the lighting Laurent used to capture
the side of his model face and body. what caught my attention is how natural this painting is it
simple and not over do, nor it to dramatic it just simple but it still shows her passion for music or
his transmition of his passion for music and art.
What mostly intrigues me about knowing more of this painting is some of the
meaning of the things that are symbolize in this painting, like the bird and all the instruments.
Also how long it took the artist to finish this painting. To find information that will help me more
to understand the painting and it artist I will do research and read the label of the painting so I

The Handmaid s Tale Report

class. The female population is divided into classes established by household functions. The Eye is

In some parts of the world, women live lives, based on their biological attributes. Another parallel,
between the Handmaid s Tale and our world, is women tend to be viewed inferior to men. This
book has an effect that leaves you feeling grim about a possible foreshadowing of our near future.
The Handmaids Tale is warning about what our future could hold. The book cautions us that we
should not become too comfortable with thinking that rights won for women will never be
tarnished. The Handmaids Tale points out issues surrounding violence towards women. The
book demonstrates how religion can influence politics. The reader is shown how freedom can be
chipped away one piece at a time. Recently, The Handmaid s tail has been turned into a tv show.
The show enriches the book by fracturing away from the first person narrative and depicting
scenes that June would not be aware of. One interesting aspect of the tv show is, it has been
modernized. The book will strengthen you for the horror that will play out on screen and not just
in your head The tv version of the book is much different than Atwood s, however, the series
moves beyond from where the book is ended. At the end of the novel, Junes fate is unknown. The
viewer is not sure if she is ill fated or has been rescued. June s world is filled with uncertainty. One
can hope, that the tv show will fill the gaps in the story. The book allows one to truly feel the
hardships of the protagonist. At times, you feel as if you have been physically placed into the
story. Atwood has created a character that fully expresses the psychological disturbance of Offred.
Certain points in the book will leave you with a feeling of melancholy. At certain points, I had to
put the book down and collect myself. The Handmaids Tale is a disturbingly powerful
Critical Critique Of Dr Faustus
Doctor Faustus was written in Elizabethan age that is also known as Shakespearean age or as a
Renaissance period. It is a historical play based on the story of Faust who is a well known doctor
of theology. He has too much knowledge and wants to acquire more. Law and physic are the
good wits and he thinks that philosophy is not petty good. He is of the view that divinity is the
basest and all the necromantic books are glorious. He withdrew God and sells his soul in the hands
of Lucifer, Prince of Hell. He has also committed a fling with Helen of Troy and become eternally
loathsome.
Genre:
Doctor Faustus, a play by Marlowe showed all the characteristics of Renaissance movement as well
as it showed the Christian religion and at the same time Elizabethan era. It is purely a morality play.

Many of the critics said that Marlowe has composed his story which is written in Faustbuch in which
a person commits a sin and then he has faced punishment.
Structure of doctor Faustus:
Some of the critics are of the view that Doctor Faustus is a play which deals with the unevenness.
It has some gaps in the middle part of the plot. It does not have any good start, ending as well as
middle. Just because of this the unity of action with the chain of effect and cause is badly
interrupted. But the reality is contrary to this, no doubt the unity of action is there and the middle
portion of the play is the most essential part of the play.
Plot of doctor Faustus:
As Aristotle has given the idea of a good play. It should have a proper beginning, a middle and an
end. But Doctor Faustus does not follow these rules. Doctor Faustus has a weak middle if compare
to its beginning and
How My Son Changed My Life-A Personal Narrative
How My Son Changed My Life A Personal Narrative
Albert Einstein once said, most people see what is, and never see what can be. I find a very
certain truth to this statement, and I found this truth because of my son. My son has helped me
to understand my past, find peace with my present life, and look forward to what lies ahead in our
future. Because of my son I look at the world differently, am confident in my purpose for this life,
and I am able to see possibility more clearly. If I were to describe my pre mommy days I would have
to say that, in all, I was not living but merely surviving. I had no real idea who I was or wanted to
be. I had a cookie cutter planned life. Even though I married at age 19 we did not plan on having ...

Compare And Contrast Machiavelli And American Government
American Government in Contrast to Lao Tzu and Machiavelli In comparing and contrasting the
governmental philosophies of the great thinkers Lao Tzu and Machiavelli, I have found a
pleasant mix of both of their ideas would be the best for America today. Lao Tzu s laisse faire
attitude towards the economy, as well as his small scale military is appealing to my liberal side,
while Machiavelli s attitude towards miserliness which causes low taxes appeals to the right wing.
These great thinkers contradict the popular saying all great thinkers think alike. They have several
ideas, such as taxes, that are the same, while other ideas, like the involvement of government in
citizens everyday lives are totally opposite. I shall start with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These wars should go on without high taxes. High taxes as well cause rebellion. Case in point:
the high taxes levied against America by the British, as well as other strong factors, led to the
American revolution. He believes a government should be miserly with its own goods. That is
not to say you can t steal the goods of conquered countries and be liberal with them. Try not to be
too generous, however. A quote I once read says remember to pillage before you burn. This
reminds me a lot of the ideas of Machiavelli. According to him, one should say one thing just to
make the people happy, and do another. He believes one should only keep his word if it is for the
benefit of the nation. Six words: read my lips, no new taxes, come to mind. George H.W. Bush
said these words, but acted differently. Machiavellian? Maybe. Bush shortly after had the largest
tax hike in the nation s history to try to save us from the worst recession since the Great
Depression. I believe this is the sort of thing Machiavelli is talking about. Do whatever you can to
keep the people happy, but when it comes down to it, what makes them happy may not be best
for the state as a whole. He believes that people are generally bad and greedy, so they will take
whatever you give them. Lao Tzu is not exactly polar opposite of Machiavelli, although he is close.
He believes that man in a state of nature is generally good and not greedy. What makes man greedy
is overemphasis on material
Charles Dickens Biography
He is living proof of childhood corruption and portrays himself as his young, mischievous, and
perplexed characters Oliver Twist and David Copperfield. He proves that he is a product of the
Victorian era as he brings attention to the childhood cruelty, the less fortunate in an English society,
and the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the early Victorian time period. Charles Dickensreflects
these and other issues as he brings to life the realism of writing. While others were writing about
the way things should be, rather than the way things were, Dickens was challenging these ideas, and
argued that paupers and criminals were not evil at birth. This was an act of rebellion, for he in fact
was showing the Victorian middle class generation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Victorian era, poverty became due to many reasons; a population increase, the search of
employment, and a depressing state of the shortage of housing. All of these points had a direct
impact to why there was the less fortunate in an English society. The nineteenth century saw a
huge growth in the population of Great Britain, and this brought the poverty line lower and lower
in cities such as London. Dickens, being affected by this, had a great impact on helping the less
fortunate in the Victorian time period by bringing to life the realism of the problems that the
paupers, criminals, and just plain poor people had. He did this through showing how the wealthy
treated the poor with no respect and with cruelty through his characters such as Mr. Bumble and
Mrs. Sowerberry in Oliver Twist. Although, Dickens brings attention to how not all upper or
middle class people were always cruel to the poor, through his characters in Oliver Twist such as
Mr. Sowerberry, who was quite kind to Oliver and was uneasy about being cross with him. Along
with poverty being such an issue, there were also the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the
Victorian time period.
Charles Dickens grew up in a home where money was never a concern, until his father went
bankrupt and he was abandoned by his family which ultimately led to Dickens being a poor
orphaned boy. Dickens s dysfunctional family must have led to such families as
Effects Of The Vietnam War On American People Essay
The Vietnam War greatly changed America forever. It was the longest war fought in America s
history, lasting from 1955 to 1973.The war had two major effects on American people. First, the
Vietnam War tarnished America s self image by becoming the first time in history the United
States failed to accomplish its stated war aims, to preserve a separate, independent,
noncommunist government. It was the first war ever broadcast on television. The public was
able to see what happened on the battlefield. Second, one of the chief effects of the war was the
division it caused among the people. Not since the Civil War had America been so divided. This
war would have lasting affects on the United States. To better understand the horrors of the war, I
will narrate the story from the perspective of my grandfather with a few personal opinions
injected in between my grandfather s thoughts. It was 1961 in, Jacksonville ,Florida when I first
enlisted in the marines at the age of 20. I then served four years and was discharged in 1964. Prior
to enlisting into the Marines I had to prep myself mentally and physically. For six months I had to
whip myself in shape. In the marine corps, you must pass a physical fitness test every six months.
A perfect score of 300 is usually achieved by doing twenty dead hang pull ups, 100 crunches in
twenty seconds and a three mile run in twenty eight minutes. Now that threw me for loop, but my
general told me you don t have to be perfect to enlist, but to
Organic Foods And Organic Food
In 1980, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) took an interest in organic farming, publishing
a report titled Report and Recommendations on Organic Farming. (Organic Debate, 2014) As
organic foods have been growing rapidly in the last 20 years there has been a lot of talking about
whether or not organic foods are healthy. As people today have been eating a lot more of organic
foods they are having arguments stating that organic foodis not what they say on the labels. Although
people think that organic foodis not what the farmers say it is, it still helps people with there health
and provides a healthier lifestyle. In order to maintain the apparent understanding of organic food
buying behaviors of consumers, it can be helpful to examine the effect of motivating factors on both
the attitude towards organic foods and the intention to buy organic foods together with the mediation
effect of attitude towards organic foods (Cabuk, 2014).
People tend to argue on the fact of whether or not organic foods are good for them. According to
Soley s article it states that Organic foods are healthier for consumers, farmers, and the planet, says
Cathy Fichtner, category manager for chocolate, cocoa, caramel, Global Organics, Ltd. Organic
production reduces exposure to toxic and persistent chemicals in the foods we eat and for farm
workers and their families (Soley, 2015). By having this information published they are agreeing

A generation can be defined as the period, cohort or age of a group of people. Age is seen as the

grouping of people who have shared events during their formative years that more than likely
contribute to like minded behavior throughout the duration of their lives. There are currently four
generations in United States society: Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X and The
Millennials. The silent generation was born between the years of 1930 and 1945. Significant events
during this time period include but are not limited to World War II and the Great Depression. The
baby boomer generation was born between the years of 1946 and 1964. Significant events for this
generation include the substantial growth of the middle class as well as economic prosperity.
