Negative Leadership and Youth Sports Essay
There are leaders in every situation and facet of life, leaders are everywhere around us, both in
the business world and out in the community. Leaders can be Supervisors, Managers, Pastors,
Teachers, or any person in any situation where they are trying to get a group of people to
accomplish a specific goal. As stated by Don Clark Good leaders are made not born (Clark 2010),
leaders are developed by experience, training, education, and by watching and learning from other
leaders. Our children are learning how to be leaders everyday. They learn at school from their
teachers and after school, they learn from their friends and parents. One of the most impactful
leaders of children in every community is a youth sports coach. In 2006 it was... Show more content

This poor coaching style has a significant impact on how a child views leadership, and impacts how
they develop as a leader. The biggest problem we face in youth sports is an emphasis on winning at
all cost. Success is the only option and failure is unacceptable.
In the words of Ricky Bobby, If you ain t first your last (Talladega Nights, 2006), is a very
common theme for most youth sports teams. In 2010 a local Cherry Creek Youth Sports football
team in the 11 year old division finished the season with a tough loss in the championship game.
This loss was the first loss in 3 years and the first time this team ended the season without a
championship trophy. This loss was tough to swallow, but it was also a time to celebrate the end
of a great streak. It was the time for the coach and parents to rally around the kids and celebrate
the season. Going 10 1 is a great feat, unless you are playing youth sports. Watching the coach
verbally blame the kids and then ignore the players is sadly not uncommon. It was the kid s fault
they lost, it was a complete lack of effort and it was a waste of a season. In the weeks that
followed the loss, the coach contacted several of the players and informed them that they will not
be welcomed back to the team because the coach needed more talented players to compete and to
win. Not once did the coach stop and think about the impact to the kids and the parents that were
asked back to the
An Essay on Otherness
Nohemi Perea Task2/LCT1 8/01/2012 An individual labeled as the Other is different and does
not fit in. The Other is perceived as lacking essential characteristics possessed by the group, the
Other is almost always seen as lesser or inferior being and is treated accordingly (The Other, 2009).
A group sets guidelines and if a person does not meet them they will not be accepted as normal .
Otherness to a group represents awkwardness. Although each person does have its own unique
characteristics to prevent from being labeled as the Otheryou must possess common characteristics
within a group. I read This Is What It Means To Say Phoenix, Arizona written by Sherman Alexie. It
is about a boy named Victor who lives on an Indian Reservation... Show more content on

Even though Thomas helped Victor in many ways Thomas is aware they cannot be friends after
coming back from Arizona. After their journey Thomas does not expect anything in return. Thomas
tells Victor, I know you ain t going to treat me any better than you did before (Alexie,1994). I know
your friends would give you too much shit about it (Alexie,1994). It is also apparent that the author
realizes it is not nice to treat people as Others but we still do. Even though Victor

seems to appreciate all the things Thomas has done for him it is not easy to accept him as a friend.

How would I deal with otherness? Each year teacher s get a new set of students these students all
bring diversity into the classroom. Unfortunately, not all diversity is welcomed. As a teacher I will
make it a priority to notice, identify and assist a student who is experiencing otherness. I will need to
pay attention to my students individually. This will enable me to notice any inferiority if any
amongst them. One thing I can absorb is their eye contact. If they tend to turn away or always have
their head down I know I have identified one who is experiencing otherness. I cannot assume they
are experiencing otherness. It is my responsibility to make my students feel comfortable. This will
make a line of communication between them and me. When I am positive a student is experiencing
otherness then I will go into
Discussionation Of Julius Caesar s Speech Of Mark Anthony...
At the funeral of Julius Caesar Mark Anthony and Brutus both give dynamically, zestful,
energetically, bold, impassionated speeches about Caesar s death. However, both speeches are
passionate for different reasons regarding Caesar s death. Brutus fervently defends him and the
conspirator s motives for assassinating Caesar, but, Anthony delivers a heartfelt speech mourning
the death of his beloved comrade and bashes Brutus and the conspirators. Although Brutus gives a
fairly good explanation for his action it is Anthony s speech that is overall more compelling and
persuasive. Back in those days Brutus was an honorable and well respected leader who the people
loved and trusted, yet his speech fails to give a good explanation for why killing... Show more

In the beginning of his speech Anthony states that many times the good that people do while they
are living is forgotten while the bad they do lives on and soon becomes their legacy. Anthony
alludes to the fact that the people deep down inside know that Caesar was a sincerely good leader
to Rome. However, Brutus is attempting to undermine all that Caesar accomplished on the
people s behalf because he was ambitious. He explains why Brutus reasoning fails, You all did see
that on Lupercal I thrice presented him a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse: was this
ambition? Yet, Brutus says he was ambitious; (3. 2. 11). Anthony provides the people with a
counter example as to why Brutus main objective against Caesar does not align with reality.
Anthony recalls the celebration of Lupercal, how he gave Caesar a crown asking on behalf of the
people for Caesar to become there king. He presented the crown to Caesar three times, yet each time
Caesar refused. Anthony questions if a truly ambitious person would do suck a humble thing. Yet,
Brutus claims he was ambitious despite the astounding evidence the people have witnessed from
Caesar in the past. Both speeches are devilishly planned and tremendously thought out, however it is
Anthony s speech that has a lasting effect on the people. The reason for this is because Anthony s
speech comes directly from the heart and is filled
An Inappropriate Medication For Medical Patient Safety...
INTRODUCTION An inappropriate medication use that can harm a patient or no therapeutic effect
is considered as the pharmaceutical error, as according to the Malaysian National Patient Safety
Council. The pharmaceutical error can be caused by the mistakes done by physicians, pharmacists,
healthcare professionals, nurses or patients itself in either diagnosis or administration of drugs. The
pharmaceutical error is an event that can be prevented. Generally, every step in treating of a patient,
including diagnosis, dispensing of drugs and administration, should be done accurately without
estimation. The consequences of medication error can lead to complication or death in patients.
According to American Hospital Association, the medication error can be caused by incomplete
patient information (such as history of patient), unavailable information of drugs (which is lead to
wrong route of administration), miscommunication of prescription order, lacks of appropriate
labelling or even environmental factors. For instance, a patient complained that his skin began to
rash and itchy after taking certain drugs. After investigation, there was no error in diagnosis in his
disease, but the problem was the patient did not mention his allergy to certain drug contents and there
was no any drug allergy test such as blood test and skin test before dispensing the drug. From this
example, it had proven that how importance are the records and details of patients in dispensing the
medications.

Relfection of the American Environmental Movement...
American Counterculture Reflection The modern Environment Movement began with the passing of
the Wilderness Act of 1964. The act established a National Wilderness System and created 9
millions acres. The main influence and writer of the act Howard Zahniser, who felt that we needed
wilderness as it takes us away from technology that gives us perspective of mastering the
environment rather than being a part of it (Nash, 2001). With the passing of the act Americans
questioned both preservation and conservation. A new culture emerged in America that rejected
societal norms and praised independence and freedom. This culture developed in the youth of
America and sparked change in preservation growth and the overall outlook of wilderness.
The counterculture developed during the 1960 s into the 1970 s and during this time period the
American mindset questioned normal values and institutions. Over half the population was under
25, many of whom associated themselves with the Hippie Movement. Hippies were all about
rejecting and rebelling against monumental societal institutions and were the focus group in the
counterculture. The hippies set themselves apart from the stereotypical man and wanted to be
untamed and wild. They valued the beauty in naturalness and stripping away the securities of
civilization that normally intervene between humans and elemental challenges (Nash, p. 267). They
wanted independence and felt that the GNP was not the best indicator of American success.
The United States Marines Branch Of The Military
Everyone is surely familiar with The Vietnam War, or at least should be and Jack Mclean gives us
an understanding of what being in the military in that era was all about. Mclean grew up with a
privileged lifestyle in New Jersey. He had always had plans to further his education by going to
college, but that didn t happen being that he wasn t accepted right off the bat. In that time it was
either college or the military, the military was mandatory if you didn t attend college. So, Mclean
made a decision and chose the United States Marines branch of the military. Here is where his
unexpected story began. Mclean spoke to a recruiter, Sergeant Miller, and enlisted in the United
States Marine Corps. Boot camp on Parris Island was awaiting for young Mclean, and many others.
Eighteen years of age and Mclean was off to boot camp, where there, his lifestyle and habits
would change dramatically. He did have people that supported his decision, There were two
marines who took particular interest and pride in my pending military service. (pg.25). In result,
this reassured Mclean that he had made a good decision. One of the marines being Colonel Henry
Aplington II , who was a distant cousin of Mclean s mother. Additionally, the other marine was
Fred Scott, a family friend , both very well respected men. Jack Mclean s military career would
kick start at this time and Parris Island would become hell on Earth for him and the rest of the
platoon. Staff Sergeant Hilton, became their worst
The Essence Of Place Essay
The Essence of Place If I had to sum Watauga Residential College in one word, I would come
down to the word community because that is exactly what being a part of this program feels like.
When reading the description of what Watauga will be for a prospective student, I gathered that the
experience will be like being a part of a community inside and outside of the classroom and this is
achieved through academic and living encounters. As Wataugans we spend time in academic and
socialenvironments together, our spirit of learning is shown through the times we spend together
academically and socially. And by socially I mean we have lunch together, and when there are
opportunities we volunteer together and take recreational trips when possible and through all of that
our faculty is involved with us as well. Yes, my fellow classmates I do engage ourselves with one
another but we engage with the Watauga faculty as well. The Watauga Residential Collegeis known
to be located in a residence hall called the Living Learning Center also known as the LLC, this is
where we make our homes for the first few years of college and also where the faculty members
offices can be found. In the LLC our small seminar classes take place in the residence hall; our
luncheons take place here, and many other social activities happen here as well. The Wataugans
that have passed their first years also are here and the ones who don t live in the LLC always come
back to visit. The LLC is what enthralls

When asked why there was an 8 day delay for making contact with the third child, R, you

In order to stay ahead of its competitors ASOS must provide its customers with the best quality
goods at the cheapest prices. They must keep up with the latest trends and offer new products as
often as they can before their rivals get the chance to release similar services. Due to the fact that
the clothes offered from these various companies are more or less the same, price is the key factor
of differentiation. SWOT SWOT Analysis is a strategic method used to evaluate the Strengths and
Weakness of a company and its products, and the external factors over which the company has no
control such as Opportunities and Threats. 1. Strengths ASOS strength is its use of technology and
the Internet. Through this virtual medium it has created its own defined market segment composed
mainly of customers who use the Internet. Since ASOS focuses on fewer market segments it is
able to provide better service to its buyers rather than expanding its attention over numerous
market segments and losing out on quality. The marketing edge of ASOS is that the apparel it
sells, which is its core focus, is influenced by what celebrities wear thus attracting customers
immediately. It also gives many different discounts over and above its cheap prices and offers free
delivery. The accessibility of the website is very easy and it is simple for the online shopping to

Disadvantages Of Fair Trade
Having the privilege to live in a developed country like America has blessed us with an abundance
of prospers opportunities, but have we let these opportunities outweigh the Earths health? This
question may not be one that can be answered till future time. Accordingly, what we can discuss is
how our purchases have a ripple effect on the natural environment and undeveloped cultures in which
many times they derived from or are at. With concepts like fair tradeand using reusable and
sustainable products to help make a healthier and a more just world.
Being a conscious consumer currently is no small task, with multiple choices of mega stores filled
with products that our most time often than not filled with products that are cheaply produced.
Moreover, the big company s give little regard to the producer. This is where the concept of fair trade
comes from. In a piece of Harvard s Journal of Economic Perspectives states that Fair Trade is a
labeling initiative aimed at improving the lives of the poor in developing countries by offering better
terms to producers and helping them to organize. (Dragusanu, Giovannucci, Nunn, 2014) The article
continues to say that ...Fair Trade certified coffee exports were 1.8 percent of global coffee exports
in 2009... (Dragusanu, Giovannucci, Nunn, 2014) A reason why this percent maybe so small could
be due to peoples who make the argument that Fair Trade is not economically sustainable. This
meaning that if these producers are underneath the
