Showing Love And Gratitude Goes A Long Way In Strengthening
showing love and gratitude goes a long way in strengthening relationships and makes us better
understands the sacrifices others make on our behalf.
In those winter Sundays, Robert Hayden stated a lot with very few words. This was possible due to
brilliant use of imagery, metaphor and sound. His striking words invokes thoughts in the mind of the
reader of this dedicated father, up alone exposed to the harsh elements who works hard each day
to make his family comfortable, however they don t value his acts of good will, nor did they give
him any credit. In many cases we glance back at one point in our lives with lament. We feel that if

Probably, parents weren t getting along with each other. Hayden himself could have ben contending
with his mother or father. Imagery
Those winter Sundays illustrates an inspirational picture in the mind of the reader. A dedicated
father who works each day to make his family comfortable, however they don t value his acts of
good will, nor did they give him any credit. Great use of imagery through out the poem really
emphasized Hayden s message. Hayden recollects memory of this specific Sunday morning.
Using the word too suggests that the father rises early consistently, regardless of what day it is.
He dresses in the severe cold. His hands have cracks as a result of the cold weather and the
grueling work that he does each day. Hayden s father lights the stoves and chimneys to warm the
house up for his family. His striking words make me invoke thoughts in my mind of this
persevering dad up alone wide open to the harsh elements. This was a great use of imagery. When
he noted cracked hands that ached , this was used to indicate how hard working he was, as well
as a symbol for all the agony and inconvenience he was willing to experience for his family.
Hayden depicted sounds and in addition pictures in the same elucidating way when he wrote I
awoke and heard the cold splintering, breaking. Possibly what Hayden heard was cracking noises
that came from the fire or ice softening off of the windows. In any case, this decision of imagery is

The Importance Of Preserving Items Of A 500 Year Time Capsule
The idea of preserving items in a 500 year time capsule may seem like an amazing idea but it is
actually rather difficult to find objects worthy of being put in it. Certain items from my infancy
would have to be included because certain events that happened back then have helped to make
me the person who I now today. My infant life was not one full of idealistic situations due to my
birth parents who were unfit to take care of me, and I am thankful I call my aunt and uncle my
mom and dad. They were very abusive and I would want to preserve some of those memories to
explain several points. I would also want my futuregenerations, or whoever would uncover the
capsule, to know what it was like to live during this timeperiod, and the... Show more content on

I have had the metal pin and screws kept in a small, green, and opaque package that was given to
me by the doctor who removed the pin. Firstly, I would want to include that in the time capsule
because it would tell a story of how my life was changed. It would tell the story of how a life was
trusted in the hands of two individuals, and they took that life and disregarded how a baby should
be properly taken care of. I do not know why they said that it was an accident when it clearly was
not, but it makes me sick to think that anybody could lie to their own child about something that still
affects them to this day. Another reason I want to include the pin, is because it would tell people
how I became a stronger person. Having multiple surgeries itself is something unfortunate to live
through. All the physical scars I have remind me of the horrible events that transpired when I was
very small, but at the same time I think of them as battle scars. They show that I had the
determination to not give up on life, and to prevail regardless of all the obstacles that plagued my
life. Also, including it in my time capsule could tell people the lesson that I have learned about
others. I learned that not everybody is fit for parenthood, but when it comes unexpectedly, there is
no bracing for the fight to come. Some people simply cannot handle the burdens and responsibilities
that come with bearing a child. It does not upset me that they did not get to know what I
Understanding Elephant Poaching
The Elephants
Did you know that that 35,000 elephants are dying each year? We are poaching them, usually for
a price. Poaching is different from hunting. Hunting is when you kill for sport, and it s completely
legal. You still need a permit. Poaching is when you kill an animal without a permit. Sadly, 30
elephants are lost a day in Tanzania. Imagine if that was you and your herd was getting killed with
no end in sight. We need to take some responsibility, because I would want to be killed just because
a poacher had a permit. In order to understand elephant poaching you need to know why they re
being poached, the perspectives of the poachers, and the organisations, how they re becoming
extinct, what we can do to help and what is being done to help. Elephants are being poached for
their ivory. Countries around the world are increasing ivory buying. This is because more elephants
have been poached and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Also that you will be sentenced 11 years of prison if you have done this crime twice or you are a

Battle Of Wilson s Creek Essay
THE BATTLE OF WILSON S CREEK
Introduction The Civil War in Missouri began in 1861 with The Battle of Wilson s Creek. On
August 10, 1861 Union and Confederate forces clashed in a town southwest of Springfield and
struggled bitterly for control of Missouri in the Civil War s first year.1
History Missouri, with its strategic position on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers was viewed by
the federal government as vital to Union success. This created a unique set of border state politics
between Missouri s residents and its leaders.
In 1861, Missourians could be divided into three political categories, conditional Unionists,
secessionists and unconditional Unionists. The majority of Missourians were conditional Unionists ...

Its ranks swelled with volunteers, many of whom hoped to see Missouri join the Confederacy.4
On June 11, 1861 Governor Jackson met with General Lyon in an attempt at compromise. After
five hours with no agreement Lyon declared war against all secessionists within Missouri and
started mobilizing his army. This began a two month campaign to drive the secessionists out of
Missouri and set into motion the events leading up to the Battle of Wilson s Creek.5 Planning
/Preparation Lyon, receiving reinforcements from Kansas, launched attacks that drove the newly
formed Missouri State Guard into the southwestern corner of the state. Battles at Boonville
Missouri on June 17 and Carthage on July 5 started to set the tone for battles to come. By August,
more than 7,000 men were in Springfield Missouri under the command of General Lyon.6 Major
General Sterling Price, commander of the Missouri State Guard, needed help to oppose Lyon s
forces in Springfield. He called upon Confederate commander Ben McCulloch. McCulloch agreed
and moved 5,000 men into Missouri. This proved to be the first invasion of Confederate troops into
Union territory. After McCulloch s men joined Price s they set out for Springfield. During the
advance, McCulloch and Price had several skirmishes with Lyon, and eventually settled into camp at
Wilson s Creek on August 6. The local
Women s Influence On Women
Women are most likely to be discriminated for their gender and are made less than man in any type
of activity in society. The men usually tries to make the women feel bad about their gender by telling
them that they are not worth anything but in reality if a women decides to she can overcome all the
obstacles even better than a men. Women are also different than men in the way they interact with
each other (physically and socially). According to the author In public places, men touch women
more often than women touch men. Men also touch women in more places on the body than women
touch men (Andersen, 2015, pg.3). In our society the women s reputation is always questioned or
put to risk when performing any type of action. In many cultures... Show more content on

The first thing females would do is criticize my outfit, especially if that female is with her friends. I
can even predict their judgements especially if I am wearing a provocative outfit Look at her she
looks promiscuous or She looks overweight. The first thing females do is criticize at other females
because of her physical aspect. Media also plays a role because as a society we tend to adopt the
idea that the only top models are perfect and that anyone else can t have the top model s appearance.
According to the author Images of women s beauty and implicit ratings of their bodies are rampant
throughout the culture (Andersen, 2015, p. 55). On the contrary, the male s reaction towards my
physical appearance is usually directed to sexual reactions. For example, if a male observes that I
am wearing a provocative outfit he would think she wants a sexual relationship, but the female is
wearing a conservative outfit he would then turn at the female s actions. Therefore if the female
smiles, the male feels that she desperately wants him and this will encourage the male to establish
communication with the female. Our cultural system have gave men the power of being the
dominant gender. Furthermore our society has permitted than males than women are property of
males. Males believe that females go to bars to encounter a sexual relation. According to the author

Sinner

James Hogg s classic novel, The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner, portrays the
fictional story of Robert Wringhim, a strong Calvinist who justifies murder by quickening the
inevitable. Robert commits infamous acts of evil, believing that these murderous actions glorify God
by annihilating sinners not chosen to be saved. I believe that a combination of factors involving both
nurture and nature shape Wringhim into the suffering creature that he becomes. The greatest of
these factors include Paranoia Schizophrenia, Multiple Personality Disorder, and the rejection of
society.

He wishes to be a ?champion? for God, cutting down sinners by the sword. However, I feel that he
subconsciously desires to be a ?champion? over his own fear of damnation and through believing
that murdering the damned is God?s calling for his life, this allows the means to defeat his fear.
Another mental illness that is shown in Robert Wringhim?s life is Multiple Personality Disorder.
Psychologists are still trying to understand what causes MPD. There is much debate whether this
mental condition is caused through nature or through nurture: I believe, like many psychologists,
that it?s a combination of both. In this belief, MPD victims recall one specific event that?s so
traumatic that their mind escapes insanity by blocking out the event and taking on a new identity
(or identities). It?s a form of the mind?s self defense which allows a victim to go on living their
life without reflecting on harrowing experiences that would result in madness for the victim. The
reason why this disorder is believed to also be caused by nature is because it helps explain why
people who suffer the same or similar traumatic experiences as MPD victims, never obtain MPD.
On page 170, Robert becomes aware that he looses all track of time. This is very common for
MPD victims. The minds will check in and out of time whenever it feels a need for safety; the mind
still functions, it just takes on the form of a new personality. Moreover, a MPD victim
The Traversal Of The Infinite
Finiteness has to do with the existence of boundaries. Intuitively, we feel that where there is a
separation, a border, a threshold there is bound to be at least one thing finite out of a minimum of
two. This, of course, is not true. Two infinite things can share a boundary. Infinity does not imply
symmetry, let alone isotropy. An entity can be infinite to its left and bounded on its right.
Moreover, finiteness can exist where no boundaries can. Take a sphere: it is finite, yet we can
continue to draw a line on its surface infinitely. The boundary , in this case, is conceptual and
arbitrary: if a line drawn on the surface of a sphere were to reach its starting point then it is finite. Its
starting point is the boundary,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second thesis is that every substance is made up of simpler substances. The two mathematical
antinomies relate to the infinite. The answer to the first is: Since the world does not exist in itself
(detached from the infinite regression), it exists unto itself neither as a finite whole nor as an
infinite whole. Indeed, if we think about the world as an object, it is only logical to study its size
and origins. But in doing so, we attribute to it features derived from our thinking, not affixed by any
objective reality.
Kant made no serious attempt to distinguish the infinite from the infinite regression series, which led
to the antinomies. Paradoxes are the offspring of problems with language. Philosophers used infinite
regression to attack both the notions of finiteness (Zeno) and of infinity. Ryle, for instance, suggested
the following paradox: voluntary acts are caused by wilful acts. If the latter were voluntary, then
other, preceding, wilful acts will have to be postulated to cause them and so on ad infinitum and ad
nauseam. Either the definition is wrong (voluntary acts are not caused by wilful acts) or wilful acts
are involuntary. Both conclusions are, naturally, unacceptable. Infinity leads to unacceptable
conclusions is the not so hidden message.
Zeno used infinite series to attack the notion of finiteness and to demonstrate that finite things are
made of infinite quantities of ever smaller things. Anaxagoras said that there is no smallest

A very well known dispute that The Supreme Court had to deal with is Plessy v. Ferguson. On
June 7, 1892 a thirty year old man by the name of Homer Plessy was detained for sitting in the
white car of the East Louisiana Railroad. Plessy was very light complected, he could have been
been thought out to be white . Despite his color completion, by law he was still considered to be
black . Despite the dispute of his color completion he had to move back where he belonged , with
the colored people. When Louisiana passed the Separate Car Act, legally segregating common
carriers in 1892, a black civil rights organization decided to challenge the law in the courts. Plessey
deliberately sat in the white section and identified himself as black; therefore, he was then arrested.
The case was very well known throughout the country that the case went all the way to the United

Fiction And Non Fiction Essay
Fiction has often been thought to be useless, providing no benefit to people, however, this is far
from the truth. It has actually been shown that fiction can effect society in many different ways
using different mediums; books, tv shows, or movies are common. The ways it can effect people
varies as well; it can change people s beliefs, provide insight on real events, and even lead to new
technology. For millions of years humanity made it a habit to tell stories, in the beginning it was
mainly true stories about events that had recently taken place and then embellished slightly to
make it more interesting. These stories could have been told strictly to relate events but they also
could have been for the purpose of making oneself look better. The way the story was expressed
was most commonly by people verbally telling it to others, mainly because many people in the
earlier centuries were illiterate if they were just common folk; this also provides a reason why these
tales would often get exaggerated. Nowadays if news needs to be shared it s just told like it is, with
facts and statistics to support their information; doing so disconnects us emotionally from the content.
The more one gets drawn into a story the stronger the effect of it s influence; this is why fiction can
be more influential than nonfiction. Nonfiction is factually based and, therefore, harder to get drawn
into, since when reading it we tend to be doubting its truth. For this reason,
