Receiving Inspection Requirements & Procedures - Aviation Industry

1. Purpose of Receiving Inspection

To verify that all incoming parts meet airworthiness requirements, purchase order specs, proper documentation, and
physical conformity.

2. Items Subject to Receiving Inspection

Aircraft parts, consumables, tools, materials, and repaired/overhauled components.

3. Required Documentation

New parts: EASA Form 1, FAA 8130-3; Repaired parts: Form 1 with release; Materials: CoC, MSDS; Tools: Calibration
cert.

4. Receiving Inspection Procedures

A. Initial Check: Part number, quantity, packaging.


B. Document Verification: Certificates, CoC, traceability.
C. Visual Inspection: Damage, corrosion, labeling.
D. Quarantine: If non-conformity found, generate NCR and notify QA.

5. Tools and Systems Used

Checklists, ERP/QMS, barcode scanners, digital signatures.

6. Recordkeeping

Retain inspection records for at least 2 years. Includes reports, certificates, NCRs.

7. Compliance Requirements

EASA Part 145.A.42, FAA 14 CFR Part 145, AS9100D Clause 8.4.2 and 8.6.
