Quick Start for AbleTrend 8.

1. Once the software is installed, open the AbleTrend software.
On the Log In box, enter your Email Address, Password, and Product Serial Number (* you will find your
product serial number in your order confirmation email).
If will see the Data Feed screen, select and add the data module you want to use. Once you’ve selected the
data module, type in your username and password for the data feed on the boxes shown here.
(You can always go back to this menu by clicking on “Data Modules” on the login screen of AbleTrend)
2. Click OK to log-in to the software. You will see two green boxes on the lower right corner: ABLE and DATA.
3. Click OK to let the workspaces to populate.

If you want to open a different pre-made workspace instead, click on File > Open Workspace.
Wait for your charts to load. They may take a few seconds to a few minutes. If there are windows that timed
out or fail to populate after a few minutes, you can try right clicking on the window and click Reload Data to
reload the chart.
4. After you open a workspace, you’ll see the active workspaces as tabs along the bottom of the application.
(This is an example of what the workspace tabs look like, the name of your tabs vary on which workspaces you
open.)
Examples of some included Sample Workspaces
NQ 1-2-3 for (#####).ws8 – this workspace specifically opens up the 1-2-3 minute time frame as the NQ
guidance chart. You can always copy/change this to any symbol and time frame. We have multiple files that
start with that name but is named differently because of the data feed that you are running. If you’re using a
specific data feed, please open the file that specifically is named with your data feed. DO NOT USE the
workspace if that is not the data feed you are using. It will show up blank. AbleData users should use the NQ F
workspace.
130minDy_DyWk.ws8 – this workspace specifically opens the two time frames most commonly used for
position trading, the 130-Daily and the Daily-Weekly.

Modifying the Workspaces
1. Filling out your screen. The workspace templates may be saved to a different screen resolution than your
own. To resize the charts in your workspace, click on Window on the top of the application menu, then
select Vertical Tile.
2. Changing Symbols and Time Frames
* Shortcut to Changing Symbols – select a chart on your screen, you can make changes to your symbols by
typing. As you type, a symbol box will appear. Type the new symbol then click on 1-Frame.
* Changing Symbols and Time Frames using the Format Symbol option – select a chart from your screen,
then right-click and press Format Symbol. Select your symbol that you wish to change. Then under Symbol
and Interval, you can manually type in the symbol you wish to use instead and change the interval using
the dropdown arrow. Note: If you’re using a multiple time frame chart (Guidance Chart), you will have to
modify BOTH symbols under the symbol box. In our example, both the Daily and Weekly have to modified.
Changing one does not change the other symbol.
Adding Charts to your Workspace
* Shortcut to Adding Charts – select a chart on your screen that you like. The easiest method is to use an
existing chart as a template by copying and pasting a chart. Click on the Copy button first, then the Paste
button afterwards. This will make a complete copy – including settings and indicators – of the chart you
copy/pasted. Then change your symbols (see step 2 above on how to change symbols).

Connecting Real-Time Streaming Data
These instructions are how to get you started. If you’re a new user, you can use AbleData connection,
which provides streaming data for stocks, futures, and forex on a 15-minute delay. Real Time data
connections are available through DTN IQFeed and broker supported connections.
