CHAPTER ONE
RESEARCH ON HOW TO COLLECT DATA BY USING
E-MAIL MASSAGE IN MS ACCESS 2007.

1.0 INTRODUCTION:

Microsoft Office Access 2007 makes it easy to gather data from

people who are located anywhere on the globe, such as
members of your sales team, survey participants, or contacts.
Office Access 2007 works with Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 to
help you to generate and send an e-mail message that includes
a data entry form. When the recipients fill out the forms and
send them back to you, the replies are processed according to
your specifications. For example, if you choose to have the
replies automatically processed, the contents of the form are
added to the appropriate table in your database as soon as the
reply reaches your inbox. This new feature, the Collect data
through e-mail messages Wizard, can save you hours that you
might have otherwise spent entering data on behalf of your
users.

In this article

1.1 METHODOLOGY

The research was carried out in the help and supporter center
of MS Access 2007

1.2 FINDINGS:

At the end of the research the following were found as

procedures

1. Keep in mind that the form that is used to collect data

through e-mail messages is not an Access form. The wizard
1
generates a special form for you, based on your choice of
either HTML or InfoPath format.

2. Ensure that the users who will receive your e-mail

message have the following applications installed on their
computer. Without the prerequisite software, users will not
be able to view or edit the form.

3. An e-mail client that supports HTML format if you send an

HTML form, the recipient must have an e-mail program
that supports HTML.

4. Office Outlook 2007 and Office InfoPath 2007 (both

optional) If you send an InfoPath form, the recipient must
have both Office Outlook 2007 and Office InfoPath 2007
installed to view and edit the InfoPath form.

5. Identify the destination database. The database can be in

either .MDB or .ACCDB format. In addition, .made
and .accede files are supported.

6. If you don't want to use an existing database, you must

create a new one.

7. Identify or create the tables that you want populated with

the data from the user replies to your message. If you are
collecting data for existing tables, ensure that the tables
are not read-only and that you have the necessary
permissions to add to or update their contents.

For more information about creating tables, see the article

Create tables in a database.

2
The underlying table does not have any records. If the
table is empty, the wizard assumes that you want to add
records.

CHAPTER TWO
RESEARCH ON HOW TO WORK WITH DIFFERENT PRIVET
TABLE FORMAT IN OFFICE IN MS EXCEL 2007
2.0 INTRODUCTION
Because of the new features added to PivotTable and PivotChart
reports in Microsoft Office Excel 2007, there are now three
PivotTable formats that you can work with: version 2007,
version 2002-2003, and version 2000. Furthermore, you can
work with each PivotTable format in Microsoft Office Excel 2000,
2002, 2003, and 2007. It's important to understand the
dynamics of working with the different program versions and
the different PivotTable format versions to decide whether you
should upgrade right away to the new PivotTable format version
2007.When you use a PivotTable format version 2007 in Excel
2007, you can use all of the features of Excel 2007. When you
use a PivotTable format for versions 2000 and 2002-2003 in
Excel 2007, you can use most of the features of Excel 2007, but
there are some features that are not supported, including the
following:
2.1 METHODOLOGY
This research work was carried out in MS Excel 2007 through
the help of file.

2.2 FINDING
At the end of the research the following were found as
procedures.
3
Filtering labels and values (except by using a Top 10 filter,
which are supported).

 Filtering fields not in the current PivotTable report layout

from the PivotTable Field List.
 Hiding or unhanding intermediate levels of hierarchies in
Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) data sources.

CHAPTER THREE

RESEARCH ON ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEET

4.0 INTRODUCTION:

ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEET: is a software that is designed basically for computations,

data analysis and pictorial representation of data. For instance, with an electronic
spreadsheet, students’ result can be computed in less than one minute.

Electronic spreadsheet packages include; Lotus 1,2,3, VisiCalc, Symphony, Quattro pro
and the most popular one is Microsoft Excel.

4.1 METHODOLOGY, TOOL AND FACILITIES:

The research was carried out by collecting different information from different books

4.2 FINDINGS:

At the end of the research MICROSOFT EXCEL was found as the most popular
electronic spreadsheet used by users

MICROSOFT EXCEL

Microsoft Excel is a software application of the category of electronic spreadsheet. It

therefore means that with MS-EXCEL complex and simple calculations such as in
financial, accounting, banking, teaching, engineering, statistical, etc. areas are
conveniently handled.

5
Microsoft excel environment

 Spreadsheet/Worksheet: This refers to the wide area in grid of rows and

columns which accommodates the date you will be entering. Rows are
arranged horizontally and are labeled alphabetically, while columns are
arranged vertically and are numbered
 Sheet Tab: The sheet tab sheet 1, sheet 2, sheet 3 on it. Each one is a
spreadsheet/worksheet and by default they are three. However, an additional
sheet can be added
 Formula Bar: It is the bar at the top of a spreadsheet where fx is written. It
displays the content of any cell.
 Name Box: It is at the left side of the formula bar. It displays the cell reference
of an active cell i.e. the cell that is currently on. By default, it displays cell A1.
 Cells: it is the combination of rows and columns overlapping each other.

ENTERING DATA
The data you will enter on a spreadsheet can be any of the three: Values, Labels
and Formula
 Values: These are data that are purely numeric i.e. numbers e.g. 13, 6,
134, etc. values by default align to the right of cells
 Labels: These are data that are alphabetic or alphanumeric. Labels by
default align to the left of cells.
 Formulas: These are special data used for computations.

However, it is important to understand your mathematical knowledge is

highly required to do well in using formulas and functions successfully in
Microsoft Excel. When you have a task before you, first study what is
expected of you mathematically and that understanding will guide you as
you construct the necessary formulas and functions. Otherwise, you will

6
make a mistake from the very beginning which renders subsequent result
incorrect.

CHAPTER FOUR
RESEARCH ON HOW TO USE PORTRAIT AND LANDSCAPE SLIDE
ORIENTATION IN THE SAME PRESENTATION IN MS POWER
POINT 2007
3.0 INTRODUCTION
By default, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 slide layouts are
set up in landscape orientation. Although you can have only one
orientation (either landscape or portrait) in a presentation, you
can link two presentations to display both portrait and
landscape slides in what appears to be one presentation. To link
two presentations, do the following:
It is best to place both presentations in the same folder before
you create links. That way, if the folder is copied to a CD or
moved, the presentations will still link correctly.
3.1 METHODOLOGY
The research work was carried out in MS Power point 2007 from
help file.
3.2 FINDINGS
At the end of the research the following were found as
procedures
 Create a link from the first presentation to the second
presentation:
 In the first presentation, select the text or object that you want
to click to link to the second presentation.
 On the Insert tab, in the Links group, click Action.
 On either the Mouse Click tab or Mouse Over tab, click Hyperlink
to, and then select Other PowerPoint Presentation from the list.
 Locate and click the second presentation, and then click OK.

8
 In the Hyperlink to Slide box, under Slide title, click the slide
that you want to link to, and then click OK twice.
