ABOUT 2IIM
2IIM is an IIT-IIM alumni venture that simplifies the CAT prep
journey of MBA aspirants with the targeted objective of
helping them reach their dream B-school! Our teaching
philosophy is "Start from Basics, Learn with Joy!" We place a
strong emphasis on mastering the fundamentals in the initial
phase of learning before progressing to advanced topics. This
equips our students to solve questions of any difficulty level.
Our teachers strive to instill a joy of learning in our students
so that their prep journey is not only productive but also
enjoyable.
RAJESH BALASUBRAMANIAN
Rajesh Balasubramanian is an alumnus of
IIM-Bangalore (PGDM) and IIT-Madras
(Electrical Engineering).
After a six-year career in the banking
industry, he decided to pursue his passion
for teaching. In 2010, he transitioned to
teaching Quantitative Aptitude (another of
his passions) to CAT students. He later
founded 2IIM and has been helming it since
then. Although his days are full, playing CEO
at 2IIM, he continues to teach Quant to this
day and will always do so.
Rajesh attempts the CAT every year and has
scored a 100th percentile five times, in
2011, 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2023!

Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer-based test, conducted by Indian Institutes of
Management for admission in post graduate management programs (MBA/PGP/PGDM) of
premier B-Schools in the country like IIMs, FMS, IITs, SPJIMR, etc. The six top IIMs in the
country (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Kozhikode and Indore) conduct the test
every year on a rotational basis. CAT tests the students’ aptitude skills in three sections –
Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and
Quantitative Ability. The test duration is of 2 hours with each section being 40 minutes. CAT
is conducted once a year on the last Sunday of November. Students compete for 7500+
seats across 21 IIMs and thousands of seats in other institutions that accept CAT scores.
Apart from CAT, there are other tests like XAT, SNAP, NMAT, MICAT, CMAT, etc. that are
accepted by many B-schools.
Selection process for B-Schools:
Stage 1: This stage consists of computer-based aptitude tests covering Verbal Ability &
Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability,
Decision Making, GK etc. The first stage shortlist is based on the score of the aptitude test.
Stage 2: This stage primarily consists of the Personal Interview (PI) round. Some B-schools
also conduct Written Ability Test (WAT) and Group Discussion (GD) rounds.
Final admission to the candidate is offered based on the cumulative score of Stages 1 & 2
and other aspects such as academics, work experience, gender diversity, academic diversity,
etc. Each B-school has their own selection criteria.
Common Myths about CAT:
Only Engineers can excel in CAT.
Without scoring 99.9+ percentile, it is not possible to secure a seat in the IIMs.
Only a genius scholar can crack CAT.
