Dehumanization In Beloved
Dehumanization of Female Femininity
Women s femininity in the novel Beloved, is determined by their slave owners and the enslaved
community which they reside in. The slaves are denied basic fundamental human rights, and
therefore are treated inhumanely. This oftentimes limits them from developing self esteem and
forming adult human relationships, because relationships, such as marriage and motherhood are not
recognized by the white slave owners. This oftentimes causes the slaves to suffer psychologically. In
the protagonist Sethe s situation, the dehumanization of female slaves deprives her of her female
identity, forbidding her the the right to have a mature human relationship of her own choosing. She
is denied the role of being a woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She believes that her daughter may encounter a worse fate than death if she lives. She decided
that she would not let her daughter be subjected to what she had endured as a slave at Sweet
Home. She takes matters into her own hands and carries out a barbaric act of slitting her daughter
s throat. It ain t my job to know what s worse. It s my job to know what is and to keep them away
from what I know is terrible. I did that (194). This behavior could be described as animalistic or
barbaric to people on the outside, but to Sethe this was her only way of saving her child from the
awful fate of slavery. To Sethe this was the only way for her to be a mother, because she would not
be able to stand the thought of her daughter sharing the same miserable fate as
Negative Effects Of The Treaty Of Versailles
Following the end of the First World War in 1918, the treaty of Versailles was drawn up with a goal
to obtain lasting peace in Europe. The Big Three, British Prime minister, Lloyd George, French
Prime Minister, George Clemenceau, and American president, Woodrow Wilson met to finalize the
agreement. Without input from the Central powers, the treaty largely villainized Germanyand Austria
Hungary for the war s devastation. The Treaty of Versailles, a flawed document, failed to diminish
Germany s resurgence and yielded a resentful nation. (Treaty of Versailles an Overview). The
agreement stripped Germany of its colonies, devastated its economy, disarmed its military, as well as
charged the nation with full blame for the conflict. (For further consideration).... Show more content

Just four years after the treaty s ratification, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party seized power, promising
to punish the allied nations for the fall of Germany. In 1936, the Nazis occupied Rhineland,
which violated the treaty that demanded its demilitarization. By endorsing Germany s possession
of the Rhine, the treaty of Versailles allowed Germany the opportunity to evolve into a major
military power in the future. (History.com) Perhaps the most difficult condition for Germany to
accept was responsibility for the war, as it was a nationalistic people. (For further consideration).
Along with this, after losing its global territory, Germany was no longer considered a world power
to the same extent as France and Great Britain. Germany s wounded ego was cause for a vengeful
people seeking to rekindle the fatherland s greatness. The prideful nation s humiliation warranted a
lasting legacy of anger. (The Treaty of Versailles an Overview). It is likely that alternate treaty
outcomes may have established peace in Europe more permanently than the Treaty of Versaille. For
example, Germany could have been returned to what it was in earlier years, which included smaller
independent states.
The Blind Side Character Analysis
The Blind Side chronicles the life of Michael Oher. Michael is a teenage boy, whose mother, a
drug addict, abandons him. Michael has the opportunity to attend Briarcrest Christian School
thanks to Big Tony, a family friend. When Big Tony took his son to Briarcrest, he takes Michael
along. This changes the course of Michael s future. It is at Briarcrest that Michael meets the Touhy
family. After several interactions with Michael, Leigh Anne Touhy recognizes that he needs
support. The Touhy family adopts Michael, allowing him to stay with them during school breaks,
providing clothes for him and serving as his advocate. Prior to attending Briarcrest, Michael had
done poorly in school. A teacher at Briarcrest recognizes that Michael performs better on oral exams
and Leigh Anne hires a tutor, Miss Sue for Michael. These changes help Michael be more successful
in school. Michael has a strong bond with Leigh Anne Tuohy. Leigh Anne notes that Michael has
many valuable traits that others may not see. Michael begins to play football at Briarcrest, a sport
he has never played before. He contributes to a successful season. Leigh Anne recognizes that
protecting others is an important quality to Michael. This quality serves Michael well on the
football field. Michael squishes a teammate on the board drill during practice for recruiters. Leigh
Anne was able to look past the outward appearance of Michael and discover his character. After

Revolt Of 1381 Research Paper
The Peasants Revolt of 1381 was an important uprising in much of England during the medieval
time period. It is also known as Wat Tyler s Rebellion and The Great Rising. It was one of the first
popular uprisings in England, and over very important issues. The feudal system, serfdom, the Statue
of Laborers (originally spelled Labourers), little to no pay, tithes, poll tax, and the general unfairness
of the time led to tensions, and action being taken. The feudal system did not have balance, and left
much of the population unhappy.
The king was at the top. He was in complete control, owning all of the land in the country, and only
gave out land to his trustees. Next were the barons, who had manors. They lived on the king s land,
but were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Bampton, an English churchman, was sent to check on why the poll tax wasn t being paid.
The villagers were armed, and organized. He asked one village representative, Thomas Baker,
why the tax had not been paid. Baker claimed that the tax had already been paid by the village and
that no money was owed. Baker was then to be arrested, and the villagers got violent. News of the
revolt spread quickly in the area. Several groups of revolting peasants travelled around, village to
village, spreading the word. A leader came out among the rebels, names Wat Tyler. Eventually,
they began to march to London. When they got there, they wreaked havoc. They ransacked parts
of the city, burning some along the way. King Richard decided to meet with the rebels, out of the
city. Here, rebel leader Wat Tyler told the peasants terms to the king. He said that price of living
was to be reduced. Also, the poll tax to be removed, there were to be pardons for all rebel, and that
peasants would have rights and privileges. While this happened, a group of peasants took
advantage of the situation. They raided the Tower of London and beheaded some people there. The
king could not let that go by unanswered. Another meeting was arranged, with just Wat Tyler and a
few of his closer followers, and the king with some of his men. Wat Tyler was killed here, after
purportedly disrespecting the king, but his death seems to be something not all
Demonstrations of the Power of Dictators in Anthem by Ayn...
Anthem Essay Hitler once stated He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future. This means that
whoever is in control of the youth will control what is going to happen, because the youth are the
future. Anthem by Ayn Rand demonstrates that Dictators are all powerful and will do anything to
keep that power.
Dictatorial leaders have multiple reasons for separating children from their parents and family. Some
reasons may include if they are taken from their families young they won t remember their life with
their families and won t try and break the rules to find them. Another reason children may be taken
from their families is to make sure that the parents and relatives do not tell them things that the
leader does not want them to believe. A final reason that the dictator would take a child from their
family is to keep them from becoming more advanced than they want them to. There are many
other reasons why dictators may do this which will be explained. Children taken from their parents
at young ages do not remember who their parents are or what they looked. Dictators take the
children at that age for the very reason that the kids will not want to look for their parents because
the child does not know what his or her parents look like. An event similar to that happened in
Anthem whenever the kids would be taken from the mother after they were born and were sent to his
or her first home until they would be old enough to start school. Making the kids constantly change

Night Mail Movie Analysis
This research paper is an analysis of the form and content of the Documentary Film Night Mail
(1936) directed by Harry Watt and Basil Wright, written by W.H. Auden, narrated by John
Grierson, and Music by Benjamin Britten. I will also go over the reaction by critics and others to
the film when it first appeared. An oversimplification of this movie is to say it is about normal
people doing their job, which would be picking up and delivering mail overnight. Beneath what
would seem to most people as a normal job from today s standards, is that the film dives into what
it was like for the working class at the General Post Office. This documentary shows us the pride
that was once had in the industry of postal service, which has become simplified with technology
such as drone deliverer and air/sea travel. During the 1930 s few people understood what it took
for mail to be delivered on time, countless people had to work many late hours into the night, so our
letters could be received in a timely fashion. Night Mailshows us the technology and steps by which
it took many people working together. We will never forget the old Britain that once was because of
films like this. Let us start with one of the main subjects of this documentary which would be the
train involved and the route taken. London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) mail train from
London to Scotland using the Royal Scot Class 6115 a steam locomotive named Scots Guardsman.

Types Of Interrogation Techniques Employed By Police And...
There are many types of interrogation techniques employed by police and federal investigative
agencies as well as the various branches of the military. Hirn Mueller, Schreiber Compo, Molina,
Bryon, and Pimentel (2015) studied tactics including suggestive questions, heavy use of yes/no
questions, rapid fire questions, and complex questions. Madon, Guyll, Scherr, Greathouse, and Wells
(2012) looked at how the length of the interview plays a part in interrogations. Our results suggest
that suspects who expect a lengthy interrogationmay be particularly susceptible to the influence of
proximal consequences and, accordingly, may be more likely to confess than are suspects who do
not expect a lengthy interrogation (Madon et al., 2012, p. 11).... Show more content on

1).
Over the years, history has shown that innocent people have provided false confessions and been
convicted of crimes after being subjected to the use of the aforementioned interrogation
techniques. As a result, interrogation methods are being questioned (Kassin et al., 2010). In the
extraordinary 1932 case of Brown v. Mississippi, three Black tenant farmers confessed to murder
after they were brutally whipped with a steel studded leather belt beatings that would continue, the
men were told, unless they confessed, (Kassin, 1997, p. 225). The well publicized case of the
Central Park Five, a group of young men who were convicted and sentenced to extensive prison
terms for the beating and rape of a woman New York City s Central Park, is another example.
Controversy arose when, years after the crime was committed and the men were convicted and
sentenced to lengthy prison terms, another man came forward and confessed to the crime, forcing
the court to re examine the original convictions. This investigation determined that the suspects were
coerced into providing false confessions and they were subsequently released, as a result of People v.
Wise (2002).
The Innocence Project states that of the 300 wrongful convictions overturned in the United States,
about 35% involved a false confession (False Confessions, 2015). Additionally, there are a number of
reasons people are compelled to give false confessions. Some of these include intimidation of the

In your letter, you falsely state that Later through other professional associations that I have

Alfie Kohn What Does It Mean To Be Educated Analysis
In the article What Does It Mean to Be Educated? By Alfie Kohn he begins by telling his readers
about his wife s educational accomplishments when he met her. He expresses that even with all of
the education she obtained from Harvard she still could not answer 8 times 7 off of the top of her
head. This was a great attention getter for me and it also made many of his points about the
definition or lack thereof of an educated person valid. Being in a two parent household my parents
instilled in me how important going to schooland being educated was, especially when I grew up
and got into the real world. Throughout grade school I would get mainly A s or B s but just as
Kohn described his wife I was not quick on my toes when it came to math. I excelled greatly with
any other classes but struggled with math, does that make me a not well educated person for that
reason or does my excellence in other areas of study define my educational status?
When trying to determine if a person is well educated you must evaluate the person versus their
education. In the article What Does It Mean to Be Educated? By Alfie Kohn, he questions the
reader and gets their minds involved by asking questions like Does the phrase well educated refer to
a quality of the schooling you received or to something about you? Does it ... Show more content on

How Is Dr. Faustus An Allegory
Dr.Faustus is about the thinking of an adolescent from the beginning of its adolescence towards
its end. As an adolescent he doesn t want to be an engineer, doctor or lawyer as he wish to be all,
not just one. His developing body, mind, thinking led him to think that he is the god father, so
why just be an individual having on quality, one art or one identity. But with the passage of time
as adolescence passes away, the reality appears to him slowly. He feels that the system i.e.
prevailed in this world doesn t let him to be the person who have all the qualities, instead of this
he has to choose a particular field or a particular way this despairs him. But the cry for power never

For an adolescent, there is no limit of arrogance it increases day by day. He feels that it is because
of his any quality he possesses like because of his knowledge, muscularity, beauty etc. so he wants

additional efforts to increase that specialty, for showoff for satisfaction.
This thing in Dr. Faustus, Christopher expresses as:
Had I as many souls as there be stars, I did give them all for Mephistopheles to him (Beelzebub) I
will build an altar church and offer lukewarm blood of new born babies
But the reality of life is different, as the pride arrogance are time being. A man has to get old a man
has to die this pinches the heart of an adolescent. So he starts cursing himself. The eternal truth that
annoys an adolescent is that, it was because of arrogance that the beloved angel of god turns into
the chief ruler of all evil spirits, his aspiring pride insolence brought about his downfall.
Christopher expresses this as:
Ugly hell, gape not! Come not, Lucifer! I will burn my books! Ah,

Fredrick Deeming s Whitechapel Murders
Fredrick Deeming born on the 30 July 1853, was an English man, who was hanged in Australia for
the murder of his two wives and their children. After his execution suspicions began to arise about
whether he had any responsibility in the Whitechapel murders. The white Chapel murders were
series of grotesque killings in 1888 which was mainly targeted at the prostitutes in the poverty
stricken Whitechapel district. Fredrick Deeming was a renowned Australian con artist, thief and
serial killer. He was considered aggressive, rude and strange towards women. He lived a difficult
youth and ran off to sea at an early age. He began a life of thieving and fraud. He murdered his
first wife Marie and their four children and his second wife Emily Mather in Melbourne March
1891. Their bodies were left decomposing under the floors of their previous homes. He later
travelled to Western Australia were he was captured. He was trialed and hanged for the murderof
Marie and Emily Mather and his four children. Speculation around his involvement in the Jack the
