Part 2
1. Your elder brother just graduated from university.
What should he do after that?
My situation is that my elder brother just graduated from
university, and he is considering what to do next. There are
three options: looking for a job, studying for a master’s degree,
and traveling. I think he should look for a job because of some
reasons.
Firstly, working will help him earn a living and gain work
experience. It’s also a chance for him to apply the knowledge
he learned at university into practice. Secondly, work
experience will improve his career opportunities in the future.
I won’t choose studying for a master’s degree because it takes
more time and money. I also won’t choose traveling because it
is not as important as starting his career now.
In short, looking for a job is the best option for him.
2. You are going to buy a gift for your niece on her 5th
birthday. What will you choose?
My situation is that I am going to buy a gift for my niece on
her 5th birthday. There are three options for me to choose: a
dress, an English book, and a bouquet of flowers. In this case, I
think I will choose a dress.
Firstly, a dress is a practical and suitable gift for a 5-year-old
girl. At this age, little girls love wearing pretty clothes, so a
beautiful dress will make her happy. Secondly, a dress can be
used immediately and will remind her of me whenever she
wears it.
I won’t choose an English book because she is still too young to
read it on her own. I also won’t choose a bouquet of flowers
because flowers are temporary and not useful for a child.
In short, a dress is the best choice for my niece’s birthday.
3. You have to go to work in a company that is about 10
km away from your house. Which is the best means of
transportation?
My situation is that I have to go to work in a company that is
about 10 km away from my house. There are three options for
me to choose: taxi, motorbike, and bus. In this case, I think the
motorbike is the best choice for me.
Firstly, using a motorbike is convenient and time-saving. I can
leave home whenever I want and avoid waiting for public
transport. Secondly, riding a motorbike is also more cost-
effective than taking a taxi, especially for a daily commute.
I won’t choose a taxi because it is too expensive for everyday
travel. I also won’t choose the bus because it takes longer due
to fixed routes and stops.
In short, the motorbike is the most practical and efficient option
for me.
4. Your younger brother is in love with a girl at high
school
My situation is that my younger brother is in love with a girl
at high school. There are three options for me to consider: ask
him to stop, let him continue but under control, or inform our
parents. In this case, I think I will let him continue but under
control.
Firstly, love at a young age is normal, but it is important to
ensure it does not affect his studies. I will talk to him and
remind him to balance his emotions and responsibilities.
Secondly, allowing him to continue under guidance will help
him trust me and share more about his feelings, so I can
support him if needed.
I won’t ask him to stop because it might make him upset or act
in secret. I also won’t inform our parents because it could
create unnecessary tension or embarrassment for him.
In short, letting him continue but under control is the best
solution in this situation.
5. You are thinking about how to congratulate your
close friend’s birthday.
My situation is that I am thinking about how to congratulate
my close friend on her birthday. There are three options:
posting on Facebook, making a phone call, and sending a card.
In this case, I think making a phone call is the best choice.
Firstly, a phone call is personal and meaningful. I can talk to my
friend directly, hear her voice, and share my wishes in a warm
and heartfelt way. Secondly, it allows us to have a real
conversation, which can make her feel special and strengthen
our friendship.
I won’t choose posting on Facebook because it feels too public
and less personal. I also won’t send a card because it takes
time to arrive and may not feel as immediate as a phone call.
In short, making a phone call is the best way to congratulate
my close friend on her birthday.

cheaper than using a car or motorbike because you don't have to spend money on fuel or
