Teaching Growth Analysis
During the Spring semester of 2014, I was placed in a third grade classroom at Charles
Elementary. The teacher of the third grade classroom was Mrs. Doe. The experience in the
classroom was one of the biggest learning experience I have had thus far in the education program.
The environment was very welcoming and the cooperating teacher cared about my success, which
was very rewarding. Comparing myself as a teacher to the first few weeks in the classroom, to the
last few weeks in the classroom, I would conclude that there was exceptional growth that occurred. I
believe my classroom managementskills is something I improved tremendously throughout this field
experience. Reflecting on my first lessontaught in the classroom at Charles, I was constantly talking
over the students trying to get them to settle down and listen. After the first lesson, when meeting
with the CT, the first thing she told me, was to pick a management strategy and stick with it
throughout the rest of the semester. She noticed I was having a hard time getting the students to
calm down once they would too rowdy. To avoid situations that involved having to yell over the
students, I decided to do the three clap method that Mrs. Vance used frequently to get the students
attention. The teacher claps three times and the students repeat, after the students clap, their voices
are off. I started to use this technique throughout the placement, not just on days that I taught lessons
to get the
Essay about Employee Benefits Required By Law
Employee Benefits Required by Law

The legally required employee benefits constitute nearly a quarter of the benefits package that
employers provide. These benefits include employer contributions to Social Security, unemployment
insurance, and workers compensation insurance. Altogether such benefits represent about twenty one
and half percent of payroll costs.

Social Security

Social Security is the federally administered insurance system. Under current federal laws, both
employer and employee must pay into the system, and a certain percentage of the employee s salary
is paid up to a maximum limit. Social Security is mandatory for employees ... Show more content on

It is possible for an individual who dies or becomes totally disabled at an early age to be classified as
fully insured with less than 40 quarters. To receive old age insurance benefits, covered individuals
must also meet the test of retirement. To meet this test, persons under 70 cannot be earning more
than an established amount through gainful employment. This limitation of earnings does not
include income from sources other than gainful employment such as investments or pensions. Social
security retirement benefits consist of those benefits which individuals are entitled to receive in their
own behalf, called the primary insurance amount, plus supplemental benefits for eligible dependents.
These benefits can be determined from a prepared table. There are also both minimum and maximum
limits to the amount that individuals and their dependents can receive.

The Social Security program provides benefit payments to workers who are too severely disabled
to engage in gainful employment. In order to be eligible for such benefits, an individual s
disability must have existed for at least 6 month and must be expected to continue for at least 12
months. Those eligible for disability benefits must have worked under Social Security for a t least 5
out of the 10 years before becoming disabled. Disability benefits, which include auxiliary benefits for
dependents, are computed on the same basis as retirement benefits and are converted to retirement
The Progression Of The Design Movement
Progression of The Design Movement There are a variety of approaches in the history of interior
design, whether it is the interior, architecture, furniture, design characteristic, concept, and history
and social background. All of these approaches are a must to take it into consideration because they
are the main principles of the art design. Moreover, one of the most important elements is the design
characteristic. Design characteristic is what every single era is personalized in. It is also shows the
differences that were happened in each era, and how it developed and transmitted to another era with
an extremely huge difference. Every era has a movement that has its own design characteristic such
as, in the Revolution: The Industrial Revolution, in the Reformers: the Shakers, in the Innovations:
Art Nouveau, and the Bauhaus, and in the Modernism: The International Style, and Environmental
Modern. In addition, starting with the Revolution, Reformers, Innovation,... Show more content on

As a result of the progression, the shakers came and created new design principles away from the
industrial revolution s characteristics. They rejected the mechanization, they respected nature, their
main point was to have a pure mind and body, and to be kind. As time passed, the Innovation came to
determine new elements. Art Nouveau design characteristic was mainly about asymmetry, emphasis
on decoration, organic, dynamism, and reduction. Furthermore, the Bauhaus main goal was
emphasizing asymmetry, purity, no ornamentation and plain facades. When comes to Modernism;
the International style elements were clean lines, simple, pure, smooth façade, and flat roof. On the
other hand, the Environmental modern elements were minimizing energy, recycling, elimination
waste, and improving indoor air
Social Movements Against Bidding For Sports Mega Events
Social Movements against Bidding for Sport Mega events: A Case Study of the 2024 Summer
Olympics

Introduction
Governments currently show great interest in sport mega events investment since that they may
have the opportunity to stimulate economic development, create international image and prestige,
generate a feel good factor among citizens and inspire grassroots participation (Grix and Carmichael,
2012). Moreover, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) states that their critical mission is to
promote a positive legacy from the Olympic Games to the host countries (International Olympic
Committee, 2007, p.15), although legacy is hard to define or measure and could be both positive
and negative in practice (Agha, et al. 2012). In particular, emerging states like China, South Africa
and Brazil have managed to bid for the Olympics or the World Cup. The use of hosting sport mega
events to enhance their soft power and achieve equal positions in global affairs has been highlighted
in recent years (Grix and Lee, 2013).

However, the effect of sport mega events has been challenged, questioning whether to host these
events or not (Lauermann, 2015). As Chalip points out, host countries may fail to make preparations
for the staging of sport mega events and encounter the risk of soft disempowerment. Meanwhile, anti
Olympics social campaigns have arisen in many advanced capitalist countries. Consequently, they
have had a considerable influence on the bids for sport mega events
Personal Identity Essay
Personal Identity Nell Bernstein is the author of Goin Gangsta, Choosin Cholita: Claiming Identity,
an essay describing how the youth in certain parts of the country are choosing their preferred
identity rather than accepting their own. For example, in Bernstein s essay a girl named April,
living in California, wants to be Mexican; therefore, she dresses like and attempts to talk in the
same accent as a true Mexican, even though she is Anglo. The essay also specifically talks about the
state of California, where all this identity changing is happening due to the great diversity of race
there. Bernstein claims that this is a positive situation when a youths choose an identity other... Show

The idea of people trying to change their identity just strikes me with stupidity. It is God s
decision as to what color, nationality or such a person will be, and I believe He has a purpose for
everything; therefore, each person should respect His decision with acceptance and serve Him
well under the identity chosen for them. The biggest mistake of this essay is the misuse of the
word identity. Bernstein claims that, Identity is not a matter of where you come from, what you
were born into, what color your skin is, but rather, It s what you wear, the music you listen to, the
words you use... (45). This is all wrong! Identity is exactly what she thinks it is not. The color of
one s skin describes their race. That is one piece of their identity. Where they come from is their
nationality. That is another piece. What they were born into, such as family, beliefs, religion
etc...., is their culture, Furney 2 which is yet another piece. All these pieces together describes
who a person is. Clothes, music, and accent only describe who a person appears to be. April, who
is in fact Anglo and should be proud of it, dresses like a Mexican because she thinks this will
make her Mexican, but it will not. Frankly, if I were Mexican and April came to me in her imitation
Mexican costume trying to speak Spanish to me even though the only thing she probably knows in
Spanish is, Yo Queiro Taco Bell, it would annoy the hell out of me.
The Geographic Information System ( Gis ) Essay
Today s society relies heavily on the use of computers and computerised information, so much so
that we rarely notice when an activity or action involves the use of technology. Over the past 30
years, technology has continued to develop into extremely complex systems capable of processing
large amounts of data. It is now possible to represent not only numbers and letters, but also images,
sounds and maps (Bernhardsen, 2002, p. 1). A Geographic Information System(GIS) is a computer
system or application designed to perform a variety of operations based on geographic
information. GIS is a tool used by many organisations, businesses, schools, governments and
individuals searching for innovative ways to solve problems (Evans, 2014). Geographic
Information Systems allow users to map, model, analyse and query data all within a single
database according to their location (Evans, 2014). Information about the world is stored as a
collection of layers; these layers can be linked together by a common locational component such
as zip codes, latitude and longitude or road name. These geographic references allow individuals to
locate features for analysis of trends and patterns (Evans, 2014). Dozens of layers can be added and
organised to display a wide array of information on many subjects.

Computer based GIS systems have knowingly been used since the late 1960 s (Coppock Rhind,
1997). However, the history of GIS is relatively unrecorded, it is a field in which history is little
Similarities Between Gilgamesh And Oedipus
Heroes are extraordinary characters who carry human qualities that reassure followers of the heroes
limitations. A hero is commonly considered a god, a being with great power that is brave enough
to save whole cities. The human qualities are always their greatest fault, it comes in the image of
pride, ego, selfishness, and even denial. These flaws are represented by the heroes Gilgamesh and
Oedipus. Gilgamesh and Oedipus undertake journeys in search of a truththat will preserve their glory.
While Gilgamesh searches for immortality, Oedipus searches for a different fate, both, fearing
death. However, only one reaches their their goal. Similarly, both figures are kings; rulers of
communities which reflect their ruling. In Gilgamesh s epic, the people knew of his endeavors and
had to live with his sporadic acts because he was their rulerand accepted him as so. As declared,
Day and night his behavior became overbearing. He was their shepherd, yet powerful, superb,
knowledgeable and expert, Gilgamesh would not leave young girls alone, (199), and it is a
positive reflection of his ruling due to the community accepting his antics through their approval
of his leadership. On the other hand, Oedipus ruling was a negative concept on the fate of the
people. The people see his flaws and have their doubts of his rule once they realize he is the root of
their suffering, yet do not fully accept the reality of the situation. This god of plague guts our city
and fills the black world
Head and Neck Essay
Common head and neck surgery includes the removal of the voice box: largyngectomy and
tracheostomy: making an incision on the anterior aspect of the neck and opening an airway through
an incision in the trachea. The removal of the larynx occurs in cases of laryngeal cancer and in this
case the airway is separated from the mouth, nose and oesophagus meaning that the patient will
breathe through a stoma in the neck. In tracheostomy cases the resulting stoma can act as an airway
and a tracheotomytube is inserted, enabling the individual to breathe without the use of their nose
and mouth.
Tracheostomys may be required for long term control of excessive bronchial secretions, particularly
in those with reduced consciousness or to maintain an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that air does not pass through the vocal cords and so speech is not possible. Sometimes
patients can have a tracheostomy tube that allows some air to go through the vocal chords and out
of the mouth. Patients can have this type of tube if they are able to swallow without difficulty and if
they do not need a tracheostomy tube with an inflated cuff in order to get air into the lungs.
The last option is surgical voice restoration which was introduced by Singer amp; Blom in
1980(Blom,1995) Not all patients are suitable for this however, It involves a tracheoesophageal
speaking valve, a small fistula is surgically created through the tracheal wall into the oesophagus.
A small, one way valve is inserted into the fistula and it allows air to be shunted from the trachea
to the oesophagus and up through the pharyngo oesophageal segment creating an acoustic wave
form and voice. A longer flow of voice can be achieved as pulmonary air is used as the initiator for
voice.
Another problem that arises in head and neck patients is that of malnutrition and weight loss. They
are particularly at risk of developing nutritional problems. Many patients with head and neck cancer
have histories of high alcohol intake, tobacco use and poor dietary habits. Malnutrition often when
alcohol is involved. Patients nutritional needs should be assessed and patients at high risk of

The Legacy Of Lincoln Electric Company Culture
Lincoln Electric Company Culture
In 1906 John C. Lincoln incorporated his business East Cleveland, Ohio forming what we know
today as the Lincoln Electric Company. Though the company started out as a relatively small
operation, it is now one of the largest producers of welding Machines and electrodes. Branching out
from Cleveland, Ohio the company now has more factories in U.S. as well as in other countries. The
company s success has be attributes to several different factors, one of which is the company s
unique culture.
Founder s Influence
An organization s culture can be defined as the system of shared assumptions, values, and beliefs
that show people what is appropriate and inappropriate behavior . Lincoln s culture has with stood
the test of time. The current business culture s roots can be traced back to its founder s younger
brother. James F. Lincoln was the figurehead of the company in the 1900 s assuming the titles of
General Manger and Vice President. It was James who helped mold the company philosophy. His
Christian principles and facilitation of multiple incentive and employee lead programs had a
profoundly lasting effect on the company even after his death. In his wake he left a mix of business
culture types/practices and artifacts to demonstrate those early principles and vision; that make up
Lincoln s highly effective organizational culture profile.
