Practical Training Assessment Process and Guidelines

The assessment portion of the Practical Training Course consists of a Practical Assessment Task scenario that will require the trainee to perform all task
types. The Practical Assessment Task is accomplished when all the tasks in the Practical Training Task Logbook are complete. The Practical Evaluator will
use the guidelines for grading below, to assess the trainee’s knowledge, skill, and attitude. As part of the guidelines, the Practical Evaluator will use the
Practical Assessment Grading Rubric to ensure the trainee meets the requirements for the assessed tasks. Upon completion, the Practical Training Task
Logbook is sent to Training Division for processing. The Practical Assessor to trainee ration during the assessment is 1:1.

Practical Assessment Task Grading

The Practical Evaluator will use the Practical Assessment Grading Rubric to assess the trainee’s performance of the individual task sections of the Practical
Assessment Task. When the task is complete the Practical Evaluator will sign for the completed task in the appropriate row with the aircraft number, date
and signature/ stamp.

Expected behavior and attitude:

1. Does the trainee ensure tolerances, constraints, and limit are met?
2. Does the trainee act safety, apply safety precautions and prevent dangerous situations?
3. Does the trainee demonstrate an understanding of aircraft systems interaction? Do they plan for potential effects of their task on the entire aircraft?
4. Does the trainee possess the knowledge and understanding of areas requiring special emphasis or novelty to this aircraft type?
5. Does the trainee identify, read and interpret the appropriate aircraft documentation? Do they navigate, execute and obey the prescribed
maintenance procedures.
6. Does the trainee demonstrate safe handling of aircraft, engines, components and tools?
7. Did the trainee return the aircraft to service through appropriate actions/ follow-up/ records the testing?

If the practical evaluator determines that the trainee does not meet the requirements for the completion of a task, he will stop the assessment, perform the
needed training and complete the task at a different time.
