Hen Laying Golden Egg


Once, a farmer lived in a village. He was very poor. His income was very
small. He passed his days with difficulty. One day, someone gave him a hen.
It gave a golden egg every day.
He sold the egg every day. Soon he became a rich man. All began to respect
him in the village. He became greedy. He thought that inside the hen there
must be a storehouse of golden eggs. He should get them in a day.
Then he would be the richest man in the village. He took a knife and cut the
stomach of the hen. He did not get even a single egg. He lost not only the
golden eggs but the hen also.
Morals: Greed is a curse.
Do not be greedy.
Haste makes waste.
It is no use crying over spilt milk.
All that glitters is not gold.
Pride hath a fall.
Appears are often deceptive.
Do not find faults with the ways of God.
Mysterious are the ways of God.
Look before you leap.
Think before you act.

2. Two Friends and a Bear

Once there were two friends. They lived in a village. They were out of
job. They wanted to get a job. They set out on a journey. While passing
through a jungle they saw a bear coming towards them. One of them
climbed up a tree but the other could not. However, the later knew that
the bear did not eat the dead. So he lay down and held his breath. The
bear sniffed him and went away considering him dead. The selfish friend
climbed down the tree and asked what the bear had said in his ears. The
later said that it had advised him to beware of selfish friend. So he said
him good-by and continued his journey alone.

Morals:
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
A false friend is worse than t an enemy.
Nip the evil in the bud.
