Child abuse is any harm to children under 18. It can be reduced through education,
advocacy, speaking up, and enforcing laws. At AIS, the most common forms are neglect
and bullying, though they are decreasing. Still, more needs to be done—raising
awareness and creating support organizations for abused children.

In Texas, the most common form of abuse is neglect. In the U.S., any sign of neglect
involves the police and a social worker, often for up to six months. Abused children may
become quiet and lose confidence. Solutions include providing resources for parents,
creating more departments and safe homes for victims, using media to raise awareness,
and accessing libraries for more information on child abuse.
