One summer, a happy grasshopper was singing and dancing in the sun. He saw an ant
working hard, carrying food to her nest.

"Why are you working so hard?" asked the grasshopper. "Come sing and play with me!"

The ant replied, "I’m storing food for the winter. You should do the same."

But the grasshopper laughed. "Winter is far away! I want to enjoy now!"

When winter came, the grasshopper had no food. He was cold and hungry. He went to the
ant’s house and asked for help.

The kind ant shared her food and said,


"Next time, you must plan ahead."
