Thoracic Spine Procedures
Thoracic spine surgery is often considered to be challenging. Teams specializing in this type of
intervention treat discs, spinal trauma, deformations and even tumors.
There are, of course, hardly any similarities between the surgical treatment of a spinal trauma
and the treatment of a spinal cord tumor. Irrespective of the different indications, some
similarities nevertheless exist with regard to the surgical access and visualization for the
thoracic region.
As part of a long and rich history of innovation in minimally invasive surgery, KARL STORZ has
developed surgical access and visualization strategies exclusively for thoracic spine surgery.
This product portfolio continues to grow thanks to co-operation with some of the world’s most
experienced surgeons and meanwhile covers the entire spectrum ranging from open surgery
to keyhole interventions through to the percutaneous approach. Visualization strategies range
from exoscopy to endoscopically assisted techniques through to interventions under full
endoscopic visualization.
This brochure classifies all options according to product type (endoscopes, coagulation
instruments, forceps, curettes, retractors etc.). This makes it easy and convenient for
the surgeon to assemble a instrument set to suit individual needs or to upgrade existing
equipment in order to extend the range of indications in the thoracic region and/or to make
surgical access even less invasive.
