1) This is a screening test and there may be false positive or false


negative results due to various reasons.
2) The detection of anti-HCV antibodies indicate a present or past
infection with hepatitis C virus, but does not differentiate between acute,
chronic or resolved infection.
3) For diagnostic purposes,the results should always be assessed in
conjunction with the patient's medical history, clinical examination, other
finding and other supplementary assay like Recombinant Immunoblot
Assay (RIBA) or measuring HCV RNA by RT-PCR should be considered.
