“A STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF STRUCTRURED
TEACHING PROGRAMME ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING
REPRODUCTIVE AND CHILD HEALTH SERVICES AMONG MOTHERS
OF UNDER FIVE CHILDREN UNDERHEALTH MISSOIN IN SELECTED
RURAL COMMUNITY’’KANPUR

ABSTRACT
AR India, with a population of more than one billion people, has manychallenges in improving
the health and nutrition of its citizens. Steady declines have been noted in fertility, maternal,
infant and child mortalities, and the prevalence of severe manifestations of nutritional
deficiencies, but the pace has been slow and falls short of national and millennium development
goal target. The likely explanations include social in equities, disparities in health system
between and within states, and consequences of urbanization anddemographic transition. A Study
to assess the effectiveness ofstructured teaching program on knowledge regarding reproductive
and child health services among mother of under five children under health mission in selected
rural community. India embarked on the nation rural health mission, an extraordinaryeffort to
strengthen. To assess the knowledge of mothers of under five children To Reproductive and
Child Health Services under the National HealthMission assess the knowledge of National
Health Mission Servicebefore and after teaching.In the result it shows that before the structure
teaching program organize in pre-test only 10% mother having adequate knowledge, 40% having
moderate knowledge & 50% having inadequate knowledge. But in post-test it shows that 45%
having knowledge, 52% having moderate knowledge & only 3% having regarding reproductive
& child health services.
INTRODUCTION
The National Health Mission (NHM) encompasses its two Sub-Missions, The National Rural
Health Mission (NRHM) and The National Urban HealthMission (NUHM). The main

programmatic components include HealthSystem Strengthening, Reproductive-Maternal-
Neonatal-Child andNHM envisages achievement of universalaccess to equitable, affordable
&quality health care services that areaccountable and responsive to people’s needs Health
(RMNCH+A), and Communicable and Non -communicable diseases .The NHM envisages
achievement of universal assess to equitable ,affordable and quality health care service that are
accountable and responsive to peoples needs .
NEED OF THE STUDY:
Outcomes for NHM in the 12th Plan are synonymous with those of the 11thPlan and are part of
the overall vision. Specific goals for the states will be based on existing levels, capacity, and
context. State specific innovations would be encouraged. Process and outcome indicators will be
developed to reflect equity, quality, efficiency, and responsiveness. Targets for communicable
and non-communicable diseases will be set at state level based on local epidemiological patterns
and taking into account the financing available for each of these conditions. Disease.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
A Study to, "Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Program me on Knowledge
Regarding Reproductive and Child Health Services NHM (National Health Mission) among
Mothers of Under Five Children in Selected Rural Community Area of Kanpur Uttar Pradesh".
OBJECTIVES:
1.To assess the knowledge of mother’s of under five children related.
to Reproductive and Child Health Services under the National Health Mission.
2.To assess the knowledge of National Health Mission Services before and after teaching.
3.To correlate over all pretest knowledge with overall post test knowledge.
HYPOTHESIS:
H1: There is significant difference between pre and posted knowledge scores of mothers under
five children related to reproductive &child health services NHM (National Health Mission) in
selected rural area of Kanpur at the level of P<0.05.

H2: There is no significant association between posttest knowledge scores and selected
demographic variables of mother under five children related to RCH services NHM in
selectedruralarea of Kanpur at the level of P<0.05.
METHODOLOGY:
The methodology is the most important in research as it is the framework for conducting the
study. chapter deals with the description of the method and different step used for collecting and
organizingdata are stated below.
REAEARCH APPROACH:
The research method adopted for the study was aquantitative evaluative approach.
RESEARCH DESIGN:
Quasi experimental one group pre-test post-test research design was adopted in this study.
SAMPLING TECHNIQUE-
Non-Probability convenient sampling used in this group.

100 mothers of under-five

DISCUSSION
children and the women of child bearing age contribute 63 percent of the total population and
they are vulnerable group of the population under five children constitute 15 to 20 percent of
population in developing countries. The health services are directed towards them in order to
attain overall,well-being of a family. Reproductive and Child Health Services are directed
towards health and welfare of mothers and children. This is only a component of means to
improve the usage and knowledge of mother towards the availability of these services. The
present study is a quasiexperimental study to "Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching
Program meon Knowledge Regarding Reproductive and Child Health Services among Mothers
of Under Five Children in Selected rural community area of Kanpur U.P".
CONCLUSION
The health services among Mothers of under five children of Selected Rural Community area of
Kanpur 50 mother of under five children were selected using purposive random sampling
method. The research approach adopted to this study is a Pre experimental design with a view to
measure theknowledge on pretest and effectiveness assessed in posttest to assess the

effectiveness of Structured TeachingProgram me. The data were Collected by a self-administered
knowledgequestionnaire.
SUMMARY
This chapter deals with the summary of the study and its major findings along with implications
and recommendations. The study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of Structured
Teaching program meon knowledge Regarding Reproductive and Child Health Services among
Mothers of under five children of Selected Rural Community Area of Kanpur, U.P. The present
study was aimed to achieve the following objectives toassess the knowledge of mothers of under
five children related to Reproductive and Child health services before teaching. To assess the
knowledge of mothers of under five children related to Reproductive and Child health
afterteaching. To correlate over all Pre test knowledge with overall post test knowledge .
