Human beings are created in the image /likeness of God.
Human beings are co – creators with God/have to continue with God’s work of
creation.
Human life is God given/have breath of life from God.
They have the authority/dominion over God’s creation/superior to the rest of the
creation.
Human beings have the ability to think/reason/make choices/decisions/bear
consequences.
Human beings are social beings /need companionship.
They have a duty to take of God’s creation/Till the land/work.
Human beings to use other creation for their benefits/transform the world for their
benefit.
They are blessed by God.
Man and woman are equal before God.
Human beings are to procreate through marriage/multiply/fill the earth.

2. a) Describe the call of Abraham (Gen 12:1-9) (8mks)
God told Abraham to leave his Country Haran/his kindred/his father’s house to
the land that God would show him.
God promised Abraham that he would make him a great nation, bless him, and
make his name great/source of blessings.
Abraham left his country Haran as he had been instructed by God.
He was (75 years) seventy five years when he was called.
He took his wife Sarah/Lot his brothers’ son, all his possessions, his servants and
set forth to the land of Canaan.
They passed through Canaan to the place at Shechem/the Oak of Moreh.
God appeared to Abraham in the land of Canaan and promised to give the land of
Canaan to his descendants.
Abraham built the altar of God at Shechem.
He moved to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent.
He built the altar for the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.
Abraham journeyed on towards Negeb.

b) Similarities between the Jewish and Traditional African practices of
circumcision. (7mks)
It promotes one into full membership of the community in both.
In both it is a mark of identification of a person to a particular community.

In both cases circumcision has a religious significance.

operation.

3. a) The nature of the Canaanite religion. (7mks)
Canaanite religion was a nature/cosmic/cyclic religion.
It comprised of many gods/goddesses/polytheistic in nature.
They had a chief god/EL.
They worshipped their gods on mountain tops/high places of
worship/temples/shrines.
Symbols/idols/images were made to represent each god/goddess.
The Canaanites practised temple prostitution/was part of the worship of
gods/goddesses.
Each god had his/her own prophets/prophetesses.
Each god/goddess played a specific role in the community.

Prophet Elijah had to defend his faith/religion to prove that Yahweh was the True
God.
He was accused by King Ahab of being the trouble maker in Israel/enemy of
Israel.
Prophet Elijah had to convince the people that he was the true prophet of Yahweh.
He lived in fear after pronouncing the drought in Israel.
He had to flee from Israel after killing the prophets of Baal.
Jezebel threatened to kill him.
Elijah despaired/felt discouraged/lonely/wished to die.
True prophets of God were being persecuted/killed in Israel.
Elijah had to fight Baalism which had been made a state religion.
The presence of the many prophets of Baal in Israel.

Through condemning all the unjust practices in the society.
By praying for the corrupt people to change their behavior.
Through advocating for the enactment of laws that can help to strengthen the fight

corrupt practices.
They make moral choices/informed decision/through the use of life skills.
By lobbing for punishment of all those who abuse justice/promote corruption.

He condemned the false belief that the temple could not be destroyed since it was
God’s dwelling place.

messages/reveal certain truths.
