I’m so in love with seeing, enjoying, and discovering everything in my hometown. You
know, unlike bustling/ˈbʌslɪŋ/ metropolises/məˈtrɒpəlɪs/, it has beautiful landscapes and a
peaceful atmosphere /ˈætməsfɪə(r)/ with fresh air. I appreciate the slow-paced lifestyles and
the strong sense of community. People here are very hospitable /hɒˈspɪtəbl/, and
neighbors care for neighbors.
3. Do you often visit your hometown?
As a freshman student at Hanoi National University of E, I visit my hometown about
twice a month to reunite /ˌriːjuˈnaɪt/ with my family and to take part in cultural festivals.
Whenever I return home, I also enjoy immersing myself in nature to relax and recharge
my batteries after long days of studying and working in the hustle /ˈhʌsl/ and bustle of
city life
4. What is your hometown like?
PT is surrounded by rolling hills, lush greenery /ˈɡriːnəri/, tea plantations, and rich
cultural heritage /ˈherɪtɪdʒ/. It’s renowned /rɪˈnaʊnd/ for its historical sites and traditional
music. As well as its low cost of living and delectable cuisine. PT plays a significant role
in Vietnamese/ˌviːetnəˈmiːz/ history and it is a popular destination for both domestic and
international tourists
5. What is the oldest place in your hometown?
One of the oldest places in my hometown is the Hung Kings Temple. This historical
complex is over 2000 years old and is located on Nghĩa lĩnh mountain. It consists of
several ancient structures built to honor the first kings of VN. The temple, which attracts
thousands of visitors who come to pay tribute /ˈtrɪbjuːt/ to Vietnam’s ancestors

a special place in my heart.
STUDY

1. What do you study?

2. Where do you study that?

I am currently a first-year student at HNUE—one of the top schools in VN, majoring in

French language and linguistics.

3. Why did you choose that subject?

I chose to pursue /pəˈsjuː/ this subject because I have always been interested in learning
foreign languages /ˈlæŋɡwɪdʒ/. Knowing French increases my chances of landing a job in a
multinational /ˌmʌltiˈnæʃnəl/ corporation /ˌkɔːpəˈreɪʃn/ or even working abroad. I strongly
believe that the studying of language will never become less crucial in our lives, as it’s
one of the most intriguing /ɪnˈtriːɡɪŋ/ aspects of human evolution /ˌiːvəˈluːʃn/.
Additionally, French is a beautiful language, and it’s known as the language of love.

4. Is it a popular subject in your country?

For me, I think English is the most popular foreign language, but French still plays a
significant role in education and international relations. Many students choose to study
French because of its rich cultural background and career opportunities.

5. Do you like that subject?

I really love learning French. Although it can be quite challenging, especially in

pronunciation and grammar. Sometimes I feel like I’m burnt out, but I know that the
learning process /ˈprəʊses/ is very rewarding. It will help me broaden my mind and gain
new skills. I also love learning French literature, which makes the subject even more
exciting. I can spend hours every day studying French without being bored or tired.

7. What was your first day like?

My first day at uni was a mix of excitement and nervousness /ˈnɜːvəsnəs/. Everything was
new to me: new friends, new teachers, and new ways of learning. My teacher teaches at a
fast pace and mostly in french. So I have to push myself to keep up with her. However,
when I went home, I was trying to find new methods of learning and made a study plan,
so I quickly adapted and started enjoying my studies.

6. Do you get on well with your colleagues/ˈkɒliːɡ/?

I would say I get on well with my classmates. We often assist each other with projects,
practice speaking together, and even watch French movies, which helps us stay
motivated, and we also have a lot of fun together in outdoor activities.

8. What are the main aspects of your subject?

The main aspects of my major include French linguistics /lɪŋˈɡwɪstɪks/, phonetics /fəˈnetɪks/
and phonology /fəˈnɒlədʒi/, syntax, semantics /sɪˈmæntɪks/, and translation. I also study
history, communication skills, and international relations related to French-speaking
countries.

including grammar, vocab, pronunciation, listening comprehension , and writing

9. If you had the chance, would you change the subject?

If I had the chance, I wouldn’t change my major. I have had a passion for learning French
for so long, and I studied diligently /ˈdɪlɪdʒəntli/ to be admitted to uni. I believe that it will
help me reach my dream of studying abroad in France one day. Thus, I’m confident that
I’ve made the right choice and look forward /ˈfɔːwəd/ to a future in this field.

10. Do you plan to get a job in the same field as your subject?

Absolutely, I plan to work in a field related to French. In the future, I hope to become a
good French teacher and also an excellent interpreter /ɪnˈtɜːprətə(r)/ where I can use my
language skills to communicate with people from different countries.

In conclusion, studying French has been an amazing journey for me. It not only helps me
learn a new language but also allows me to explore a new culture. It gives me the
opportunity to experience—/ɪkˈspɪəriəns/ a different way of living.
