TENSES

PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE

‫۔‬ . ‫ وغیرہ‬،‫ تے ہیں‬،‫ تی ہے‬،‫تا ہے‬

Subject + V1st + s,es + object | Subject + do, does + not + V1st + object

Do,Does + Subject + V1st + Object Do : I, we, they, you, p/n | Does : He, she, it, S/n

He goes to school. Ho does not go to school. Does he go to school?

PAST INDEFINITE TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫ا ۔ ی ۔ ے۔ تھا ۔ تھی ۔ تھے وغیر‬

Subject + 2nd form of verb + object. | Subject + did not + 1st form of verb + object.

He went to school. He did not go to school. Did he go to school?

FUTURE INDEFINITE TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫گا ۔ گی ۔ گے وغیرہ‬

Subject + will/shall + 1st form of verb + object. (Note: “Shall” zyada tar formal English mein “I” aur “We”
ke sath use hota hai, lekin aaj kal aam tor par “will” hi sab ke sath use hota hai.)‫ ۔‬I will go to school.

PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫رہا ۔ رہی ۔ رہے ۔ وغیرہ۔‬

Subject + is/am/are + 1st form of verb + ing + object‫۔‬ I am reading a book.

Is : he, she, it s/n Am : I Are : we, they, you, p/n

PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫رہا تھا ۔ رہی تھی ۔ رہے تھے وغیرہ‬

Subject + was/were + 1st form of verb + ing + object Was : he, she, it, I, s/n.

I was reading a book Were : we, they, you, p/n


FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫رہا ہو گا ۔ رہی ہو گی ۔ رہے ہوں گے وغیرہ‬

Subject + will be + 1st form of verb + ing + object. I will be going to school.

PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫چکا ہے ۔ چکی ہے ۔ چکے ہیں ۔ وغیرہ ۔‬

Subject + has/have + 3rd form of verb + object Has : he she it s/n Have : I we they you p/n

He has eaten food. I have finished my work.

PAST PERFECT TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫چکا تھا ۔ چکی تھی ۔ چکے تھے ۔ وغیرہ۔‬

Subject + had + 3rd form of verb + object She had gone to school.

FUTURE PERFECT TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫چکا ہو گا ۔ چکی ہو گی ۔ چکے ہوں گے وغیرہ۔‬

Subject + will have + 3rd form of verb + object I will have finished my homework

PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫اور جس میں وقت کی بات کی جائے‬ ‫ رہے ہیں وغیرہ۔‬،‫ رہی ہے‬،‫رہا ہے‬

Subject + has/have + been + 1st form of verb + ing + object + since/for + time

Since : ‫( خاص وقت‬2 PM, Monday, 2020) For : ‫( مدت‬2hours,5days,long time)

I have been studying since morning. She has been cooking food for two hours.

PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫رہا تھا ۔ رہی تھی ۔ رہے تھے ۔ وغیرہ اور وقت کا استعمال ہو‬

Subject + had been + 1st form of verb + ing + object + since/for + time

FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

‫۔‬ ‫رہا ہو گا ۔ رہی ہو گی ۔ رہے ہوں گے اور وقت کا استعمال ہو‬

Subject + will have been + 1st form of verb + ing + object + since/for + time

I will have been studying for two hours. She will have been cooking since morning

============ ACTIVE VOICE AND PASSIVE VOICE =============

PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE

Active: Subject + V1 + s/es + object Passive: Object + is/am/are + V3 + by + subject

Active: He writes a letter. Passive: A letter is written by him.

PAST INDEFINITE TENSE

Active: Subject + V2 + object. Passive: Object + was/were + V3 + by + subject

FUTURE INDEFINITE TENSE

Active: Subject + will/shall + V1 + object. Passive: Object + will/shall be + V3 + by + subject

PRESENT CONTINUOUS , PAST CONTINUOUS , FUTURE CONTINUOUS

Active: Subject + is/am/are + V1 + ing + obj . Passive: Object + is/am/are + being + V3 + by + subject
Active: Subject + was/were + V1 + ing + obj. Passive: Object + was/were + being + V3 + by + subject
Future Continuous tense. Passive voice not used

PRESENT PERFECT , PAST PERFECT , FUTURE PERFECT

Active: Subject + has/have + V3 + object. Passive: Object + has/have been + V3 + by + subject


Active: Subject + had + V3 + object. Passive: Object + had been + V3 + by + subject
Active: Subject + will/shall have + V3 + obj Passive: Object + will/shall have been + V3 + by + subject

PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS , PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS ,


FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS .

Passive voice not used.
