To,

The Case officer,

Dear Sir / Madam,

My name is Abdul Manan, I am very excited to receive an offer letter from the
University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in the course “Master of Strategic
Communication” for the February 2024 intake. Now, I am providing this statement for
my student visa request in this program.

Starting with my family background, there are six members of my family, consisting
of my parents, three brothers, and one sister. I am the elder son of my parents; one of
my brothers is employed in the Punjab Police, and the other two siblings are studying.
My father is a landlord, and my mother is a housewife.

As far as my academic background is concerned, I graduated from the National

University of Modern Languages [NUML] in Islamabad, Pakistan. I began my
bachelor degree in BS “Mass Communication” in February 2012 and completed it in
April 2017. Later on, I joined Gold Bank by Patiala in Islamabad, Pakistan, as a
“Digital Media Manager” on May 1st, 2017. I am still incumbent there.

I have done my bachelor’s degree in “Mass Communication,” but it is the basic

degree in the field of communication; however, the world is moving towards
specialization. In every field, specialists are needed to counter the emerging
challenges. In the same way, the media industry is also in dire need of specialists to
contain novel challenges and crises. Therefore, I aspire to become a specialist in
strategic communication. The world is witnessing challenges too in the
communication industry, for instance, the occurrence of natural calamities, disasters,
and crises in the form of pandemics, earthquakes, wars, etc. Therefore, the importance
of strategic communication is high. As a communication strategist, we can convey
effective and accurate information to overcome such crises. In addition, this course
will help me in the acquisition of knowledge and practical skills, along with
international exposure. Hence, I am very excited and eager to attend this course with
my full passion and energy.

Moreover, the course outline for the Master of Strategic Communication at UTS
aligns with my aspirations. It includes subjects such as "Exploring Human
Communication:Theories and Practice, Strategic Communication and Integration,
Influence in the Digital World, Intercultural and International Communication,
Understanding and Engaging Audiences, Managing Public Communication", and
elective courses in strategic communication. This course will enhance my in-depth
understanding of human communication and sociological, cultural, and international
communication across the world. This diverse array of courses may satiate my
appetite for knowledge and skills regarding strategic communication.

Furthermore, when I decided to specialize in communication, I visited Pakistani

universities and noticed that no one university was offering a specialization as per my
aspirations. So, my colleagues advised me to learn from international experiences and
studies. I searched different countries for my specialization program and concluded
that Australia ought to be my first choice for my higher education. There are several
reasons that compelled me to choose Australia. First, I chose Australia for its diverse
and multicultural environment. Secondly, student-friendly policies for international
students in Australia fostered the valid reason for the finalization of my destination.
Thirdly, the conducive climate of Australia captivated me enough to select Australia
for further education. Its temperature is more or less similar to the temperature in
Pakistan. Hence, Australia fulfills my aspirations in this regard.

Moreover, it was my dream to study at the world’s best universities, and I think
securing a degree from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) converts my
dream into reality because UTS’s excellent reputation inspires me. I was astonished to
know that based on the QS World University Ranking, UTS upgraded its ranking
from 284th place in the world in 2013 to 90 th place currently. This last decade of
progress of the UTS indicates that it may provide me with an excellent chance to
sharpen my skills and knowledge. In addition, according to the Times Higher
Education World University Rankings 2022, UTS is ranked 9th in the subject of
communication and media studies. Therefore, UTS is now my first choice for
postgraduate study.

Apart from this, Sydney is a metropolitan city, the former capital of Australia, and
still the provincial capital of NSW. It has a vibrant and diverse culture and provides
ample learning opportunities for students. Therefore, a combination of all these things
inclined me to select UTS for my educational career.

However, the realization of my dream cannot come true without the support of my
family. My father and grandfather, who are eager to see me as a student at the
University of Technology Sydney for my Master degree, they don’t want to remain
unturned any stone in the accomplishment of my studies. They are landlords and own
vast agricultural lands and mango farms. Their earnings and savings are enough to
cover my tuition, travel, and living expenses in Australia. My family has also
managed requisite funds for my education and accommodations.

Furthermore, my goal goes beyond the realization of my dream. My goal is to serve

my parent country, Pakistan. After the completion of my master’s degree in strategic
communication, I am passionate about serving my home country, Pakistan, and I want
to be a proud son of my parents and country. Equipped with advanced understanding,
I’m dedicated to make a positive impact on the communication industry in my own
country.

Additionally, upon completion of my degree in strategic communication, I may

become able to secure a job as a virtual assistant, marketing communication specialist,

programme specialist in different organizations and companies. However, my first

priority is to secure a job in the Ministry of Information and Broadcast as a public
relations officer [PRO] in Pakistan. As a PRO my responsibilities will be; writing and
producing presentations, press release, article writing, social media posts, representing
my department at interviews, press's conferences, exhibitions and promotional events.
so, a master degree from the prestigious Australian institution may build my skills and
knowledge to that zenith which my fulfill my dreams.

Moreover, it is an undeniable fact that education abroad is a valuable asset, but I

cannot stay abroad for extended periods of time. I have deep affiliations with my
beloved family, culture, environment, and country. These deep-rooted feelings compel
me to return and serve my country. I am delighted to convey that it is a holistic picture
of my story without any ambiguities.

Last but not least, I am well acquainted with the visa conditions that I must adhere to
during my stay in Australia, which are detailed below.

• I am bound to maintain health insurance (OSHC) during my stay in Australia.

• I cannot change my university until six months after enrollment.
• I have to maintain at least 80% of class attendance with progressive growth.
• I will not work more than 48 hours fortnight.
• I need to maintain a 50% pass grade in each term.
• I will also inform the university of my local Australian address within seven
days of arriving in the country.
 I will not be involved in activities that are disruptive to; through violence or
threaten harm to the Australian community.

In a nutshell, my journey is full of aspirations and anticipated boundless opportunities

as I join my master of strategic communication program at the University of
Technology Sydney.

I feel honored to present my case.

Kind regards,

Abdul Manan
