We are seeking a detail-oriented EDI Support Specialist to ensure seamless
electronic data interchange (EDI) operations in the shipping industry. This role
involves troubleshooting EDI processes, supporting trading partner integrations,
and maintaining data integrity for critical shipping and logistics operations. The
ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient
communication between systems and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. EDI Operations Support
o Monitor EDI transactions and troubleshoot issues related to data
exchanges, including failures, errors, or mismatches.
o Provide timely support for inbound and outbound EDI messages,
including shipping notices, invoices, and manifests.
o Collaborate with internal teams and external trading partners to
resolve EDI-related queries or disruptions.
2. Trading Partner Onboarding and Maintenance
o Assist in onboarding new trading partners, configuring EDI
connections, and ensuring successful integration.
o Update and maintain trading partner profiles and mappings as
needed.
o Conduct testing for new setups and changes to ensure smooth EDI
functionality.
3. System Monitoring and Performance Optimization
o Use EDI tools and dashboards to monitor system health and
transaction performance.
o Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to
enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
o Work closely with IT teams to implement system updates or
patches.
4. Documentation and Compliance
o Maintain detailed records of EDI processes, configurations, and
troubleshooting activities.
o Ensure compliance with EDI standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and
shipping industry regulations.
5. User and Partner Support
o Provide training and support to internal teams on EDI-related
workflows and best practices.
o Act as the primary point of contact for trading partners, addressing
EDI inquiries promptly.
6. Reporting and Analysis
o Generate regular reports on EDI transactions, error rates, and
system performance.
o Analyze trends in EDI operations to identify recurring issues and
propose preventative measures.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Educational Background:
o Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or
a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in EDI tools and technologies (e.g., IBM Sterling, SPS
Commerce, or similar platforms).
o Understanding of EDI standards like ANSI X12, EDIFACT, and XML.
o Familiarity with shipping-specific EDI documents, such as 310, 315,
856, and 997.
o Basic knowledge of database queries (e.g., SQL) and scripting
languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
3. Soft Skills:
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and
resolve EDI issues.
o Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and
external partners.
o Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and
addressing potential issues.
4. Experience:
o 1–2 years of experience in EDI support, preferably in the shipping or
logistics industry.
Familiarity with integrating EDI systems with ERP or TMS platforms is preferred
