Version 1.0 (July 2022)


Background
• To promote transparency and simplifying the tax return filing process, CBDT has amended
Form 26AS (vide Notification dated May 28, 2020)
• The new Form 26AS is an Annual Information Statement or AIS which will provide a
complete profile of the taxpayer for a particular financial year.
• New information sources, not available in the current Form 26AS, have been added in AIS
• Taxpayer can provide feedback on information displayed in AIS

Key objectives of AIS:


• Display complete information to the taxpayer
• Promote voluntary compliance and enable seamless prefiling of return
• Deter non-compliance

About AIS :

• Taxpayer can provide feedback on
information displayed in AIS

About TIS :
• Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) is
an information category wise
information summary for a taxpayer
• The same is updated based on the
feedback provided by taxpayer in AIS

Access AIS through Mobile Application

Access AIS via AIS Mobile Application
Login AIS through AIS Mobile Application
using below steps:
• On the mobile device, visit Google Play
Store or the Apple App Store
• Search for “AIS” Mobile App in the search
bar (Android) or in the dedicated search
section (iOS) and click on “install” to install
• Open AIS Mobile Application on device
• Click on “Next” button
• Click on “Get Started” button

Access AIS via AIS Mobile Application
On clicking “Get Started”, the screen to enter
basic details will be displayed

• Enter PAN and Date of Birth/


Incorporation/ Formation on the login page
• Read the Terms & Conditions and tick the
checkbox to proceed
• Click on “Proceed” button

• Enter Primary Mobile Number and Email
address
• Click on “Proceed” button
• A pop up will appear to confirm updated
details
• Click on “Confirm” to confirm details

Note: The primary mobile number and e-mail address


updated in taxpayer’s e-filing account has to be entered
here.

Access AIS via AIS Mobile Application
• Enter the OTPs received on the mobile
number and email address and click on
“Verify” button
• Once details are verified, choose your
“MPIN”
• Click on “Next” button
• Re-enter MPIN and click on “Confirm”

AIS Mobile Application Login and Homepage
• Once MPIN is set, use the same MPIN to log
in and access the application
• You will be successfully logged in to AIS
Mobile Application

On successful login, AIS Mobile App home


page along with basic details of taxpayer
(Name and PAN) will be displayed

To access AIS:
• Click on “AIS” tile

Following are the functions available on AIS
homepage:

1. General information: includes general


details i.e. Name and PAN
2. AIS Tile: To view TIS and AIS
3. Left Menu: To access options i.e. Help
Menu, User Manual, Contact Us, Share App
etc.
4. Activity History Tab: To view list of activities
performed by taxpayer
5. Chatbot: To answer quick questions relating
to AIS functionality

• Source wise Information is displayed in AIS
under following parts, after clicking the AIS
tile from the AIS homepage:

o TDS/TCS Information
o SFT Information
o Payment of Taxes
o Demand & Refund
o Other Information

View Source wise Aggregated Value
• AIS displays the information at two level
o Source wise aggregated value
o Information/ transaction

• Source wise aggregated view displays key


details (Information Category, Code,
description and information source) along
with Count and Amount (based on active
information)

• Relevant information under source wise


details can be viewed by clicking on the
relevant details.

View Information
• Relevant Information/ transaction can be
viewed by clicking on any source wise
aggregated view

• Information details are displayed along with


status (Active/ Inactive) and option to
submit feedback

Note: Only 40 information(s) will be shown in mobile


app. To view all records, visit AIS functionality on AIS
Homepage (Compliance Portal).
A message will be provided to the taxpayer if the
information count is more than 40.

Filter Information
• Filter option is present to narrow down the
information from list and allow viewing only
the relevant information/transaction
• Filter option is present in Information
Source wise aggregated details (L2 level
information) and Information/ Transaction
Details (L1 Level Information)
• Once filters are selected, click on Apply
Filter and as per filter, filtered
Information/Transaction will be displayed.

Download AIS
AIS can be downloaded in relevant format
(PDF) through following steps:
• Click on AIS tile from AIS homepage
• Click on download icon available on
screen
• Select Download AIS
• The AIS PDF will be downloaded in your
mobile
Note: If the file size is large, download request will be
taken and the file will be made available for
download through “Activity History” tab

Provide Feedback on AIS Information

Provide Feedback on AIS Information
Feedback can be given on Active information
displayed under TDS/TCS Information, SFT
Information and Other Information through
following steps:

• Navigate to AIS details


• Select from B1, B2 or B7 and then expand
the source-wise information to see the
transaction level information view
• Click on “Submit Feedback (Optional)” to
provide Feedback.
• When the information as been marked
under e-Campaign so information may
displayed as “Expected”.

Submit Feedback
• Click on Select Feedback
• Following types of feedback on the
information can be submitted:
• Information is correct
• Information is not fully correct
• Information relates to other PAN/Year
• Information is duplicate / included in other
information
• Information is denied
• Customized Feedback (based on
information category)

• Choose the relevant feedback option from


the drop down

Submit Feedback
• Enter the feedback details (if required) and
click on “Submit” button.
• Success message will appear once feedback
is submitted successfully.
• Navigate to “Activity History” to download
Feedback Acknowledgement Receipt

Modified value as per feedback
• Based on the feedback submitted on the
information, the modified value will be
calculated
o The same will be displayed in brackets along
with the reported value of that information
o It will also be aggregated and displayed at
information source level
o Modified value will be utilised to update the
derived value in TIS view.

View Feedback History
Feedback History will show the details of
already provided feedback on the information

Navigate to feedback history screen through


following steps:
• Navigate to relevant information for which
feedback has already been submitted
• Click on the “ “ icon
• View history of the feedback for the
selected information

AIS Activity history
• Activity History can be viewed by clicking on
“Activity History” from AIS Homepage
• Activity History records the relevant
activities performed for AIS functionalities. It
is divided into 3 sections:
o All- All activities
o AIS- Activities specific to AIS
o General- Activities relating to Registration of new
device and other login related functions

• Large files can also be downloaded from


Activity History screen which are made
available as per request (by clicking on the
available download icon)

Bulk Feedback
Apart from submitting feedback on each
information, bulk feedback can also be
submitted on selected information through
following steps:

• Navigate to AIS
• Click on specific part
• View source wise aggregated details

information view on which feedback is to be
provided

• Select the icon to select bulk feedback

• Click on the “Bulk Feedback”

Download Consolidated Feedback PDF
Consolidated Feedback PDF provides details of
information on which feedback is submitted
The same can be downloaded through
following steps:
• Click on AIS tile from AIS homepage
• Click on download icon available on screen
• Select Download Consolidated Feedback
• The PDF will be downloaded in your mobile
• If file size is large, then request will be taken
and further can be downloaded from
Activity History

Note: Feedback other than ‘Information is correct’ are


shown in consolidated feedback file.

Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) is an
information category wise information
summary for a taxpayer.

TIS can be viewed through following steps:


• Select relevant Financial Year (F.Y. 2020-21
for now)
• Click on Taxpayer Information Summary
(TIS) tab to view your TIS details

o Processed Value - Value after processing


(including deduplication of information)
based on pre-defined rules

o Derived Value - Value derived after

any), and processed value

• On expanding any information category, the
source wise aggregated value is displayed
• Along with relevant details, this view
displays:
oReported Value – Value as reported by
information source

each information source is summed up for
display at information category wise view

TIS can be downloaded in relevant format
(PDF) through following steps:
• Click on AIS tile from AIS homepage

settings such as Reset MPIN (as of now) can

• User can change MPIN by selecting 4 digit
MPIN and updating other details (as

query to get instant replies based on FAQs
and machine learning.
• Can be easily accessed from any page on the
