(vi) The Guide must have knowledge of elementary sewing.
Key Responsibilities of a Child Nurse
1. Feeding and Cooking
o Ensure the child receives regular, balanced meals.
o Prepare simple, nutritious food suitable for the child’s age.
o Understand basic dietary needs and avoid harmful foods.
2. Cleanliness and Hygiene
o Bathe the child regularly and keep their clothes clean.
o Teach the child personal hygiene habits like handwashing.
o Keep the child’s surroundings tidy to prevent illness.
3. Healthy Environment
o Maintain a safe, well-ventilated, and clean living space.
o Ensure the child is protected from hazards like sharp objects or harmful
substances.
o Encourage a clutter-free and cheerful atmosphere.
4. Rest and Exercise
o Make sure the child gets enough sleep and rest.
o Engage the child in age-appropriate physical activities like walking, playing, or
simple exercises.
o Balance indoor and outdoor activities for overall development.
5. Emotional Well-being
o Foster a sense of security, love, and encouragement.
o Teach the child to express feelings and manage emotions.
o Use stories, songs, and play to build self-control and happiness.
Additional Skill Requirement
• The Guide must know elementary sewing, including:
o Mending torn clothes.
o Sewing buttons or simple stitches.
o Assisting with basic clothing needs of the child.
