LANDING GEAR - INSTALLATION OF MAIN LANDING GEAR LOWER TORQUE ARMS WITH
JACKING PROVISION

1. Planning Information

A. Effectivity
(1) Learjet 60-001 thru 60-214.

B. Reason
(1) To install main landing gear strut lower torque arms to accept main gear jacks. This will provide a
means to install jacks individually under landing gear strut.

C. Description
(1) Instructions are provided in this Service Bulletin to replace main landing gear strut lower torque
arms.

D. Compliance
(1) At the option of the aircraft owner.

E. Approval
(1) FAA approval has been obtained on technical data in this publication that affects airplane type
design.

2. Accomplishment Instructions

A. Gain Access
(1) Set Battery Switch(es) off and disconnect aircraft batteries.

B. Modification of Aircraft

NOTE: The following instruction are applicable to both main landing gear struts.

(1) Replace main landing gear strut lower torque arms as follows: (See Figure 1.)
(a) Jack the aircraft. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter 7.)
(b) Remove main landing gear lower torque arm assembly (4). (Refer to Learjet Maintenance
Manual, Chapter 32.)
(c) Inspect the compounds for wear and corrosion. Replace components as required.
(d) Replace apex bushing (2) in upper torque arm (1) if beyond wear tolerance. (Refer to Learjet
Maintenance Manual, Chapter 32.)

NOTE: Replacement apex bushings for upper torque arm apex bushing in new lower
torque arm are reamed to final size during munufacture.

(e) Install lower torque arm (4) with shims (3) as required. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual,
Chapter 32.)
(f) Deflate main landing gear strut and check for binding through full stroke of lower cylinder.
(g) Inflate main landing gear strut. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter 12.)
(h) Complete installation of brakes and wheels. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter
32.)

C. Restore Aircraft to Airworthy Status

(1) Connect aircraft batteries.

D. Complete the attached Compliance Response Form and return as soon as possible.

E. Complete aircraft maintenance records in accordance with FAR 43.9.
