Objective
The purpose of this assignment is to help students understand the concepts of Profession &
Professionalism and Professional Ethics & Code of Conduct in an organizational setting. Students will
analyze real-world scenarios and reflect on the importance of professionalism and ethical behavior
in the workplace.
Part 1: Understanding Profession & Professionalism (10 Marks)
1. Define Profession & Professionalism. Provide at least three characteristics that differentiate a
profession from a regular job. (3 Marks)
2. Case Study Analysis: Read the following scenario and answer the questions:
Scenario
Sarah is a software developer working at a leading IT company. She always meets deadlines,
communicates effectively, and helps her teammates when needed. However, she notices that one of
her colleagues frequently arrives late to meetings and ignores emails from the project manager.
Questions
a) Identify two professional qualities Sarah exhibits. (2 Marks)
b) Suggest two ways the colleague can improve professionalism in the workplace. (2 Marks)
c) Explain why professionalism is important for career growth. (3 Marks)
Part 2: Professional Ethics & Code of Conduct (10 Marks)
3. Explain the importance of professional ethics in an organization. Give an example of a situation
where ethical behavior can impact an organization’s reputation. (3 Marks)
4. Case Study on Ethics
Scenario
Ali is an IT manager at a software company. He discovers that one of his team members, Ahmed, has
shared confidential client data with an external party. Ahmed argues that he did it unintentionally
and didn’t realize the consequences.
Questions
a) Identify the ethical violation in this situation. (2 Marks)
b) What steps should the company take to handle this ethical breach? (2 Marks)
c) How can organizations ensure employees follow ethical guidelines? (3 Marks)
