As the global pioneers of Safety Instrumented Systems, HIMA has always been committed to product evolution and introducing
innovative, new technologies. As part of this, we have incorporated the advanced technology development of our smart safety
platform into the proven in use HIQuad system, evolving it to become HIQuadX. This modernization will extend the lifecycle of the
existing systems to another 15-20 years and equip the system with advanced safety and security features.

HIQuadX introduces new central modules for the HIQuad platform. These new central modules provide enhanced features and
performance for safety, security and availability, ensuring the continuance of the HIQuad platform for decades to come.

Seamless transition

The modernization of a HIQuad system to HIQuadX is seamless with no changes required to the IO modules and no changes to
the field wiring and marshaling. This keeps the major part of your investment safe and the change over duration to an absolute
minimum.

As the HIQuadX central modules are now active, HIQuad H41q and H51q central modules are transferred to the Legacy Phase of
their lifecycle starting from 1st of April 2020.All I/O modules remain in the Active Phase and will continue to function with the new
HIQuadX modules. Details about HIMA lifecycle phases are given below

HIMA Product Lifecycle

The following diagram shows the HIMA Product Lifecycle

The existing system CPU racks is now in legacy phase. Once a product moves to Legacy Phase, the following
conditions generally apply:

1. Standard Product development and manufacturing is withdrawn.

2. HIMA will maintain certain limited quantities of the legacy product for spares and minor modification
requirements.
3. Bug fixes will only be released for critical safety and availability related failures.
4. There will be no update of standards and certificates. e.g. HIMA will not endeavor to certify according to
updated IEC 61508 or IEC 62443-2 SL1 standards.
5. Products will have legacy prices and have longer lead times for delivery.

Modernization Technical Facts

Description
We are proposing TÜV certified SIL-3 HIQuad-X PLC system to be replaced with the existing HIQuad system under this project.
HIQuad X is a programmable electronic safety system made by HIMA. The flexible and scalable system family is a further
development of HIQuad, which has been in use within various applications in the process industries for over 30 years.
The modernization combines tried-and-tested HIQuad I/O technology with the high-availability and high-performance HIMax
system technology. HIQuad X is programmable with SILworX, the HIMA engineering tool.

Seamless Modernization
The modernization of a HIQuad system to HIQuadX is seamless with no changes required to the IO modules and no changes to
the field wiring and marshalling. This keeps the major part of your investment safe and the changeover duration to an absolute
minimum. Some Highlights of this Modernization are

No changes to IO
The IO modules of the existing system will remain as it is as the modernization process does not
modules involve any changes in IO's. Only the CPU rack will be replaced by the new HIQuadX CPU rack

No changes to Cabinets The Existing CPU rack shall be pulled out from the position and the new CPU rack shall be
inserted in the same position. Moreover, the IO modules remain untouched. This ensures that the
system/marshalling cabinets remain same for the modernized system

No changes to Field Since the IO modules remains untouched, the field wiring also remains untouched in the
wiring modernized system

Highly optimized The IO modules, cabinet and field wiring of the existing system remains untouched. This makes
changeover duration changeover duration for the modernization to an absolute minimum as there is no any field wiring
and intense loop checking involved in the modernization process

HIQuadX Benefits / New features

HIQuadX introduces several enhancements to the current HIQuad processors.Which are

H51X-RS The safety related system H51X-RS (PES) possesses a fully redundant central part in HIQuad X
technology. A mono or redundant I/O level can be connected over up to redundant I/O bus rings
even in mixed configuration. All requirements of scalability and maintainability in operation can be
met.

HIQuad X The safety system HIQuad X consisting out of H51X/H41X is the basic safety system from HIMA.
It can be used in applications where the safety requirement is up to SIL3 and highest reliability is
necessary. De-energize to trip as well as energize to trip applications with standard or even
highest availability can be automated. HIQuad X ensures safety for smaller systems with
comparatively small costs and effort.

Non Stop Operation The modernized HIQuadX system is a non stop system where all the modification can be done
online without process disturbance.
Online change/Reload is possible even with Single CPU in the HIQuadX system. Any
module/rack/cabinet addition can be realized online.

Safety HIMA systems generate its safety out of double processor architecture with diagnosis unit on
every central module. Due to this inherent safe architecture HIMA systems are able to fulfil safety
requirements up to SIL3 regarding IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 as well as PL e regarding ISO
13849-1 with only one processing module, one input and output module.

Availability A new feature of HIQuad X is the flexible system architecture. There are expandable mono
systems H41X/H51X-MS existing, which can be upgraded in running operation with redundant
components. Beside there exist high available H41X/H51X-RS systems, which are equipped with
all redundancies and meet the challenging demands of maintenance of a system in operation.
Two I/O bus rings can be installed in redundant configuration of the central unit. The I/O level can
be configured mono or redundant within one system depending on the application’s requirements.
Herewith valuable space can be saved.

The consequent segregation of processor modules and I/O modules increases the system
stability through interference-free operation. The new I/O processing module enables a cross
connection and information of all module in the architecture before are available at any time.

Modernization Technical Facts

Performance You enter a new performance class with HIQuad X. The executing speed is improved
significantly. This is because of the intelligence of the I/O processing modules and the new
processor module. The floating point calculation is in accordance with the idea of a modern
system, which allows shortest reaction times – even for medium size applications.
Multitasking of up to 32 programs fulfils the wish of segregation of plants. A target cycle time can
be set up for a program used for control functions.

Maintenance The enhanced reload functionality enables changes in operation. Beside changes of application
program, hardware and communication protocols can be added.
The increased diagnosis buffer helps with a better failure location and faster maintenance. The
local failure display concept for field failures is improved, through that field failures can be
maintained without touching the system.
Intelligent power supply modules equipped with internal adjustment supports to run the system
reliably.

Communication A new communication module F-COM 01 is coming along with HIQuad X. It supports the
consistent HIMA security concept. With HIQuad X, you have new opportunities as well as well-
known existing communication paths. Additionally, HIQuad X increases the availability of the
communication to redundant third-party systems.
You can connect HIQuad X systems to each other via the HIMA safety protocol SafeEthernet.
Also, HIMax, HIMatrix systems and RIOs can be combined safely. To establish a safety-related
connection to existing HIQuad installations, the protocol HIPRO-S V2 is implemented in HIQuad
X.
Supported are the safety communication protocols SafeEthernet and HIPRO-S V2 as well as the
standard communication protocols Modbus TCP Master & Slave, Modbus RTU Master & Slave,
Profibus DP Slave, SNTP for time synchronization, COM User Task (CUT) for individual protocol
programming.

Advanced Cyber Integrated firewalls ensure Cyber Security compliance with the IEC 62443 standard. Allow
Security configured data exchange only. SIL3 Memory protection: Usage of independent memory
SIL3 timing protection: Uses only configured COM time slice and Achilles certified.

As regards cybersecurity HIQuad X is using the proven defense mechanisms of HIMA. The
system supports virtual and even physical separation, which secures your plant from outside
hazards effectively.

Innovative Engineering The Engineering platform SilworX is a sophisticated tool. The SilworX platform accelerates
Platform engineering and startup process. Application function blocks are according to the IEC 61511. The
Silworx tool is the one engineering tool used for all HIMA platforms

Standards HIQuad X will be certified in accordance with the relevant safety regulations:
· IEC 61508, up to SIL 3
· IEC 61511, up to SIL 3
· EN 50156
· EN 12067
