REINF. DETAILS OF PILE CAP
CAST-IN SITU PILE REINF. DETAILS
DETAILS OF BAR LAPPING (TYPICAL)
General notes of pile:
1. Concrete in bored and cast-in-situ pile shall be 20 mm downgraded stone chips and 28 days cylinder strength shall not be less than 22 N/mm².
2. All reinforcement shall be mild steel deformed bar with fy = 400 N/mm².
3. Minimum lap length shall be 40 times the bar diameters.
4. Cover to reinforcement shall be 75mm.
5. Estimated length of piles is L meter. The actual length of piles shall have to be verified / determined from the pile load test.
6. The test pile to be constructed and tested in accordance with the requirements of specifications and instructions of the engineer-in-charge, locations, positions and number of test piles required shall be decided
by the engineer-in-charge based on constructors construction programme.
Notes of piling construction procedures:
1. Construction procedures of pilings shall be in accordance with the requirements of specifications and as per direction of the engineer in charge.
2. All piles shall be constructed using a temporary casing unless otherwise approved by the engineer-in-charge.
3. All piles shall be constructed vertically, unless specified otherwise a tolerance of 100 mm may be allowed in the final location of pile. If obstructions are encountered, they shall be removed
during the boring process by appropriate measures.
4. The surface water shall not be allowed to enter into the hole. If ground water is entering into the hole, then the concrete shall be placed by tremie from the bottom of the hole to displace water;
the tremie discharge shall be kept well into the casing and carefully withdrawn as the concrete is placed.
5. The removal of casing may be started with an initial jerk of 50 to 100mm and otherwise the casing will be withdrawn smoothly without any jerk. The bottom of the casing shall be maintained BANGLADESH WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD
at a minimum of 1500mm below the top of concrete. OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER
6. The reinforcing steel case shall be placed and secured symmetrically about the axis of the pile and block to clear the sides of the hole. DESIGN CIRCLE - IV
FLOOD CONTROL, DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT AND WATER LOGGING MITIGATION OF
7. No piles shall be bored within 3000mm distance before 24 hours of casting of a particular pile.
CHITTAGONG CITY
8. No service pile shall be constructed until and unless load test is performed and desired result is obtained. If load test is satisfactory, then the test pile DESIGN OF FLOOD WALL FROM Km. 27.817 TO Km 34.042=6.225 Km & FROM Km

10. The load test shall be carried out 28 days after completion of concrete operation. The design load of a pile is 380 kN. This is to be confirmed in field
by full scale load test. The test load (760KN) shall be at least 2 times of the design load and the test shall be performed for at least one pile in each Km.
