1 General Remarks
This document describes how to install the lowlevel drivers for DFG/BW1. The usermode DLL and
test−applications are contained in a different setup.

1.1 Installation order


Please keep the following installation order.

1. Read the documentation.


2. Follow the installation steps described in the next section.
Read this section before plugging the grabber into your PC.
3. Install the usermode software.

2 Install drivers for plug and play grabbers
This sections describes how to install the drivers.

2.1 Win95
You must use the Windows 95 VxD. This driver is not plug and play compliant, but can be used for old and
new grabbers.
Use the setup program contained in the win95 subdirectory.

2.2 Win98, Win98 SE/ME, Windows 2000


The following section describes the installation of the PnP driver. The images shown may differ on different
platforms, but the intallation process is similar on all platforms.

1. Shut down your PC, disconnect power.

2. Plug in the grabber and turn on power.

3. Wait for the new hardware to be detected.

4. Let the hardware wizard diplay a list of drivers.

5. Select "have disk" and browse to the wdm dirvers directory


The drivers are contained in the drivers/wdm subdirectory.

6. Select your grabber from the list and use the next button to finish installation.

7. You need to reboot your PC.

8. Install the usermode DLL and test−software.

2.3 WinNT 4.0


You must use the Windows NT 4.0 driver.
Use the setup program contained in the nt40 subdirectory.

2.3.1 Installation order

1. Install the driver.


2. Shut down the PC, disconnect power and plug in the grabber.

3 User mode software
The usermode DLLs and the configuration program are contained in a different setup.
