S Sagging B.M

Bending moment ina member which creates tension at


bottom . Also called positive bending moment

Sal wood is about 30% heavier , 50% harder and 20%


stronger than teak . It is naturally durable. It is a rough
constructional wood and used for beams , rafters ,
sleepers , piles , flooring , door frames , etc.

The fine granular material resulting form the natural


disintegration of rock , or form the crushing of sand
stone.

A temporary structure for gaining access to higher levels


of the permanent structure during construction.

concrete mix . The heavier aggregates settles at the
bottom . The strength of the concrete is adversely

Is the ability of a material to resist deformation . It is a


measure of the modulus of elasticity , the higher the
modulus the stiffer the material.

Is the internal resistance to an external force or load


applied. A unit stress is the stress produced per unit
area. The three basic stresses are tension, compression
and shear.
