The necessary documents needed for letters of application

The following are the documents are required

A petition; section 242(a) of succession Act Cap 268, provides an


application for letters of administration shall be made by petition
distinctly written in the English language and stating a)the time and place
of the deceaseds death

b) the family or other relatives of relatives of the deceased and their


respective residences.

C) The right in which the petitioner claims

d) the deceased left some property within the jurisdiction of the High
Court or Chief magistrates Court or magistrate to whom the application is
made and

e) the amount of assets which are likely to come to the petitioner's hands

2. Notice of application. The petitioner will attach his orbher passport


photos and that of the deceased. The notice of application runs with in
days .

3. A certificate of no objection

4. Verification

5. Declaration

6. Death certificate

7. National ID of the petitioner

8. IDs of all beneficiaries

9. A letter from the LC1 introducing to NIRA

10. A letter from the LC1 introducing to the petitioner to the administrator

11. Minutes of the family meeting to choose an administrator

12. Minutes of the family meeting with the CAO / sub county chief

13. Minutes of the family with the state attorney handling the file

14. Administration bond

15. A copy of the newspaper advert

16. Identification form . Has to be stamped by the LC1

17. Family consent
