ARMED FORCE SELECTION BOARD(AFSB) INTERVIEW.

This body has about eight stages

1. Documentaton stage

2. Credental stage

3. Medical stage

4. Physical stage

5. 3.2km Racing stage

6. A1ttude test stage

7. Obstacle crossing stages

8. Psychology test stage.

Psychology test stage which is the vnal stage of the AFSB screening.

There are three eliminaton stages in this eight stages

1. Credental Screening

In credental screening, all candidates will seat according to their

state.

Each and everyone in your state will submit the 1hotoco1ies of their
certvcates( 1rimary and secondary school certvcates), any required
certvcate you fail to come with you will be given few days to get it
before the credental screening result. So to avoid much stress and
1ressure, get everything ready before going for the interview. After
the credental screening, few days will be used to cross check
everybody's certvcates ...after that, very early in the morning AFSB
will call the chest numbers of candidates that didn't 1ass the
credental screening and they will be sent home that morning after
they have vnish telling them what disqualived them.

Please don't be a victm of credental 1roblem, make your certvcates

are legal and com1lete before going for AFSB interview. After the
disqualivcaton of those unsuccessful candidates, the successful ones
will be taken to NDA 1ermanent site, Afaka, some kilometers away
from Ribadu cam1us, Kawo, Kaduna for medical screening.

AFSB MEDICAL SCREENING(ALMIGHTY REMOVER)

In this medical screening, candidates will undergo many medical tests,

these are

1. High blood 1ressure test

2. Height

3. Weight

4. Body mass index(BMI)

5. Blood test

6. Urine test

7. Eyes test

8. Tooth test

9. Electro cardiogra1hy (ECG)

10. Physical test

Each candidate will undergo all these test before another stage of the
interview will begin. So anyone that fails any of those tests will be
disqualived and will be sent out of the 1remises after telling them
what disqualived them. This is the hardest stage of the AFSB
interview. This stage eliminates about 60-90% of each state, once you
1ass medical screening you have 90% of getting admission into the
Nigerian Defence Academy de1ending on how hard you will try in the
next stages called com1ettve stages, once you 1ass medical
screening you are entering a very high com1ettve stages, this
com1etton is between you and your fellow state men. So it is left for
you to fold your hands and double cross your legs and watch them
su1er 1ass you, less candidates in any state in relaton to the number
of candidates that will be taken that year is also an advantage to
every candidate in that state. So be smart and strong so that you will
merit vnal list. Remember if you have a godfather, its not only you
that have godfather in your state..just do the best in you and leave
the rest to be considered. The most 1ainful stage of theinterview is
the medical screening, you get disqualived in medical screening it
signived that you are not medically qualifed to be a military
officer...so nobody can hel1 you in that stage not even your godfather
he knows the next thing that will follow it is death. Do you want to
die in the cause of the military training? Your answer will be NO!
Lols...it may sound funny but its a serious thing... That's why 1eo1le
say that medical is strong!. But I assure you don't 1anic I will tell you
how kee1 vt medically and 1hysically in order to 1ass the medical
screening. You see in this medical screening the highest 1roblem
candidates have is High blood 1ressure, do you know why? Don't
worry just read down you will know the reasons why many
candidates have high B.P during this screening.

Here you will know the causes of those sicknesses above, and the
treatments/cure.

TEST ONE

BLOOD PRESURE.

Is the 1ressure of the blood in the circulatory system, often measured

for diagnosis since it is closely related to the force and rate of the
heartbeat and the diameter and elastcity of the arterial walls.

"heart failure is common in 1atents with high blood 1ressure" So

NDA wouldn't allow such thing to ha11en to any of their officer
cadets.
PROBLEMS OF BLOOD PRESSURE

Are ; High blood 1ressure and low blood 1ressure.

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.

Is a conditon in which the force of the blood against the artery walls
is too high.

Usually hy1ertension is devned as blood 1ressure above 140/90, and

is considered severe if the 1ressure is above 180/120. But in the
military medical standard any B.P range above 130/80 is considered a
high blood 1ressure, so you are to have blood 1ressure range
between 110/80 -120/80 ,if above 120/80 and attains a range of
130/80 is will be consider as stress on the candidate and such
candidate will be reviewed later on to make sure, his a 1ro1er b1
range is attain

Sym1toms

It requires a medical diagnosis

High blood 1ressure often has no sym1toms. Over tme, if untreated,

it can cause health conditons, such as heart disease and stroke. So
that's why every candidate needs to be diagnosed Before it will show.

Treatment consists of self care and diuretcs

Eatng a healthier diet with less salt, exercising regularly and taking
medicaton can hel1 lower blood 1ressure.

Self-care

Physical exercise, Stress management, Quitting smoking, Home blood

1ressure monitors, and Low sodium diet, eat banana, cucumber,
water melon, and moringa seeds.

Medicatons

ACE inhibitor, Diuretc, Beta blocker, Anthy1ertensive drug, Calcium

channel blocker, and Vasodilator. If you do have High blood 1ressure
treat it naturally before going for the AFSB interview in Kaduna to
avoid story that touches the heart( medical disqualivcaton).

Major Causes of High BP

1. High salt intake. Mostly row ones,sto1 taking salt.

2. Fear/ anxiety. Fear makes your heart to beatng fast, and when
your heart is beatng uneasy your blood 1ressure will devnitely go
very high, so you to control it.

How to control the fear for blood 1ressure test

Sto1 thinking about the outcomes of the b1 test, just free your mind
from it and focus on that will kee1 you calm and ha11y during the
test. Drink enough water moderately, drink enough in day, less in the
night. Eat moringa seeds all tme, drink water after eatng it, and more
of exercises . If you do all these there is no how you will have high
blood 1ressure during the screening.
3. Stress.

Avoid doing stressful actvites, it makes your heart to work very hard
thereby making it to 1um1 much blood and much 1ressure exert on
the blood vessels. When this ha11ens your blood 1ressure will go
high. So get rid of it those 1rocedures.

WEIGHT

Is a body's relatve mass or the quantty of matter contained by it,

giving rise to a downward force; the heaviness of a 1erson or thing.
Good weight is between 50-85.kg So if you're less than 50.kg you are
underweight, above 85.kg you are overweight. So you will be
disqualived, because you can't cou1 with nature of the training.
Someone that's overweight can not run very fast like a military officer,
and one with underweight can't carry heavy-weight military
equi1ment and go a long distance.

How to solve the 1roblems of Weight

Don't drink water before meals. This can vll your stomach and make it
harder to get in enough calories.

Eat more often. Squee(e in an additonal meal or snack whenever you

can, such as before bed.
Drink milk. Drinking whole milk to quench thirst is a sim1le way to get
in more high-quality 1rotein and calories.

Try weight gainer shakes. If you’re really struggling then you can try
weight gainer shakes. These are very high in 1rotein, carbs and
calories.

Use bigger 1lates. Devnitely use large 1lates if you’re trying to get in
more calories, as smaller 1lates cause 1eo1le to automatcally eat
less.

Add cream to your cofee. This is a sim1le way to add in more calories.

Take creatne. The muscle building su11lement creatne monohydrate

can hel1 you gain a few 1ounds in muscle weight.

Get quality slee1. Slee1ing 1ro1erly is very im1ortant for muscle

growth.

Eat your 1rotein vrst and vegetables last. If you have a mix of foods
on your 1late, eat the calorie-dense and 1rotein-rich foods vrst. Eat
the vegetables last.

Don't smoke. Smokers tend to weigh less than non-smokers, and

quitting smoking often leads to weight gain.

HEIGHT

Is the measurement of someone or something from head to foot or

from base to to1. Every candidate should be at least 1.68 for males
while 1.65 for females. Anything less than that is considered under
height, and such candidates will be disqualived.
How To Add U1 In Height..

Eat a balanced diet. ...

Use su11lements with cauton. ...

Get the right amount of slee1. ...

Stay actve. ...

Practce good 1osture. ...

Use yoga to maximi(e your height.

EYE TEST

An eye examinaton is a series of tests 1erformed by an

o1hthalmologist, o1tometrist, or ortho1tst, o1tcian, assessing vision
and ability to focus on and discern objects, as well as other tests and
examinatons 1ertaining to the eyes. Each and everyone will be asked
to read some Al1habets and sentences...Anyone who can't read any
of those things has vision 1roblem.

How To rid of Eye Problems

Using a humidiver in your home.

How To Pre1are For the Race

ONE WEEK BEFORE THE RACE

SLEEP

Last week’s workouts were 1retty hard and you’ve basically vnished
your training. Now it is tme to give your body the chance to recover
and re1air. And the best way to do that is slee1. Try to go to bed
every night at the same tme and get eight to ten hours of slee1.
NUTRITION

Eat a balanced and healthy diet, es1ecially now. Make sure to get
1lenty of carbs in the last four days before the race to vll u1 your
glycogen stores. Of course, I’m not talking about chocolate and ice
cream, but com1lex long-chain carbohydrates (e.g. 1asta, 1otatoes
and rice). You should eat the last big meal 12-15 hours before the
race. Most marathons have a 1re-race 1asta 1arty. The main thing is
to avoid hard-to-digest foods or anything new or diferent to what
you usually eat the night before the race.

FLUIDS

Since you will be consuming lots of carbohydrates, you have to drink

1lenty of fluids because carbohydrates bind with water in the body.
Adequate hydraton also boosts your recovery. A well-hydrated
system kee1s your fascia su11le and reduces the risk of minor injuries
or soreness.

BODY
You have trained hard and are ready to 1eak. Take extra s1ecial care
of yourself in the last week(s). If you go for a run in the rain, make
sure to wra1 yourself u1 in warm clothes afterward to avoid catching
a cold. The last week is not a good tme to go on a long hike or bicycle
tour. It’s better to kick back, 1ut your legs u1 and listen to your body.
If you don’t feel like going for an easy 40-minute run, then ski1 it. It’s
very easy to do too much at this stage.

RUNNING

Make sure to run the day before the race to loosen u1. 20 minutes of
easy running followed by four strides is a good a11et(er. Any more
would be too much and might leave you feeling tred or sore the next
day.

VISUALIZE

Learn to visuali(e. All 1rofessional athletes do it. You can 1icture

yourself 1erforming s1ecivc movements 1erfectly in your mind’s eye.
You can often see skiers going through the course in their head before
the race and visuali(ing every movement they will make. You can also
use this technique in your running. Imagine certain situatons like
your legs getting heavy and how you will overcome the 1roblem by
running tall and kee1ing your stride short and quick. Or you are
running neck and neck toward the vnish line and by lengthening your
stride, you 1ull ahead of your o11onent and cross the line vrst. It is
sometmes easier to deal with situatons if you have ex1erienced
them once before. Running really does take 1lace in your mind. Now
it’s just tme to do it on the road.

CHANGES
If your training routne has been going well, then the rule is: don’t
change anything! Small changes in your diet or your morning routne
can have disastrous consequences during the race.

ON THE DAY OF THE 3.2KM RACE

BREAKFAST

You should eat breakfast three to four hours before the race. I like to
eat oatmeal with bananas, a11les, nuts and a touch of cinnamon. It
tastes good, gets me going and 1rovides me with energy for the race.
Now really isn’t the tme to try anything new, just eat the same as you
have been in training. Get all those things ready all the tme when
CROSSING

Ribadu cam1us for AFSB interview, because you can never tell if you
will go for the race, its starts immediately after medical screening
results have been called.Be smart!

OBSTACLE CROSSING
An obstacle course is a series of challenging 1hysical obstacles an
individual, team or animal must navigate, usually while being tmed.
Obstacle courses can include running, climbing, jum1ing, crawling,
swimming, and balancing elements with the aim of testng s1eed,
endurance and agility. Sometmes a course involves mental
tests.Every candidates will undergo this 1rocess and must do it very
well as instructed, remember don't touch the red bar you will see
during this obstacle crossing.

Obstacle crossing colors and meaning

Red color is danger

Green color is Good to Go.

So be careful and you doing the crossing, because the instructor is

seeing you and at the same tme scoring your 1erformances.

PSYCHOLOGY TEST

Psychological testng is the administraton of 1sychological tests,

which are designed to be "an objectve and standardi(ed measure of a
sam1le of behavior". The term sam1le of behavior refers to an
individual's 1erformance on tasks that have usually been 1rescribed
beforehand. The sam1les of behavior that make u1 a 1a1er-and-
1encil test, the most common ty1e of test, are a series of items.
Performance on these items 1roduce a test score. A score on a well-
constructed test is believed to reflect a 1sychological construct such
as achievement in a school subject, cognitve ability, a1ttude,
emotonal functoning, 1ersonality, etc. Diferences in test scores are
thought to reflect individual diferences in the construct the test is
su11osed to measure. The science behind 1sychological testng is
1sychometric. Every candidate will undergo go this test.

FINAL STAGE TEST

BOARD FACING

In this stage, every candidate will be called into the room according to
their chest number, state by state, in that room many military
generals will be there to ask candidates base on their course of study
and current afairs. So it is very very advice able to along with your
text books and current afairs, read them all tme and kee1 yourself
intellectually actve. After this vnal stage , all candidates will be
allowed to go back to their various homes and wait for the vnal list to
be out. Armed Force Selecton Board will now score each candidate
according to their 1erformances during the screening and select the
best candidates for admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy for
that available regular course. So these are all you need to know and
do before you become a cadet of Nigerian Defence Academy.

Endeavor to get the Psychological Test Book to read more on Armed

Force Selecton Board Interview and how to 1ass the 1rocedures if
invited.
