The Prevailing Word of God on Overcoming the World by Faith (Part 1)
In this topic of FAITH, we must first understand what faith is, how it works, and what it does.
Part 1 will focus on defining faith, while more details will follow in parts 2 and 3. Let’s dive in.
-> What Is Faith?
Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe
that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
This scripture makes it clear: nothing pleases God without faith. Acts such as fasting, prayers, giving, or
any religious activity, if done without faith, are not pleasing to God.
Example: Abel and Cain
Consider the story of Abel and Cain. God accepted Abel’s offering but rejected Cain’s. Why? The reason
is explained in Hebrews 11:4:
By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness
that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
Abel’s offering pleased God because it was given by faith. This shows us that only actions grounded in
faith truly please Him
Faith and Jesus Christ
Matthew 3:17 – And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am
well pleased.”
This verse tells us that Jesus Christ is well-pleasing to God. When we combine this truth with Hebrews
11:6, we see a profound revelation:
Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
-> Jesus pleases God.
Therefore, faith is Jesus. To have faith is to have Jesus Christ living in us
-> Faith for Every Believer
Romans 12:3 – God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
Every believer has been given a measure of faith. This means faith is not something we create by our
own effort but a gift from God.
Conclusion
Faith is the foundation of our walk with God. It is not just a belief but a relationship and trust in Jesus
Christ. Without faith, our actions, no matter how religious, cannot please God. But with faith – with
Jesus in us – we can overcome the world and live a life that glorifies Him.
