Motor Housing Tolerance by KW

This document outlines motor shaft diameters and recommended ISO housing fits based on motor power ranges. It provides specific tolerances for different power categories, emphasizing the importance of precise fits for effective mechanical assembly in electric motors. The document includes examples of ISO tolerance values for a 50 mm shaft and notes that tolerances increase with shaft size.

Motor kW Range and Housing Tolerance (ISO Fits)

Motor Housing Tolerance Reference

This document provides a quick reference for motor shaft diameters and recommended ISO housing fits (tolerances)

based on motor power (kW range).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

| Motor Power Range | Typical Shaft Diameter | Recommended Fit |

|-------------------|------------------------|---------------------------|

| 5.5 kW - 30 kW | 24 mm - 50 mm | Shaft: K6, Hole: J7 |

| 37 kW - 160 kW | 55 mm - 80 mm | Shaft: K6, Hole: J7/H7 |

| 200 kW - 500+ kW | 100 mm - 200+ mm | Shaft: K6, Hole: J7/M7 |

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Example ISO Tolerance Values (For 50 mm Shaft):

-----------------------------------------------------------

| Tolerance | Lower Limit | Upper Limit | Type |

|-----------|------------------|------------------|----------|

| K6 | +0.002 mm | +0.018 mm | Shaft |

| J7 | +0.015 mm | +0.040 mm | Housing |

-----------------------------------------------------------

- K6 is commonly used for shaft press fits to ensure tight and secure mounting.

- J7 provides a slightly larger hole, suitable for precise bearing fits in electric motors.

- Tolerances increase with shaft size; for larger shafts (100 mm+), the bands are wider.

Note:

These are ISO standard tolerance designations used for high-precision mechanical assembly, especially in rotating

equipment like electric motors.
