The armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20)

This passage has been used many times to encourage us among the brethren, to remind us that we are
soldiers in a powerful army commanded by the Lord, etc. However, we forgot some details that
It's important to know how to effectively use this armor.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
a. Be strengthened in the Lord, and in the power of His might: Paul wrote, literally, 'be strengthened yourselves'
same in the Lord". Perhaps he took the idea from 1 Samuel 30:6, where it says that David strengthened himself in
Jehovah is your God.
The detailed teachings on spiritual warfare in this passage present two essential components.
A. You must be strengthened in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
B. You must be dressed in all the armor of God.

Both are essential and absolutely necessary. If you take a weak man who can barely stand, and
You put the best armor on him, he will still be a weak and ineffective soldier, which will make him easily...
defeated. So equipping for Christian combat must begin with Strengthen yourselves in the Lord, and in the
power of his strength. What kind of soldier are you? Are you already strengthened to put on this armor and

First, we must ensure that you are strong and that you can use what we give you. That's how it works.
How strong in the Lord are you and how capable do you feel?

b.And in the power of His strength: You cannot defeat the devil with your own strength. The Lord is the
the only one who can provide us with the necessary power. Two words stand out: Power and Strength

When the muscular man uses his strength to bend a iron bar, he uses his power. This means
that the reserve of strength is actually in operation.

The question we must ask ourselves is, how effective has this armor of God been in us? Has it
Have we really used it once we have been strengthened?

Can a Christian waste the strengths given by the Lord? (optional)

Obviously, the answer is a sad YES. The idea of this teaching is that I must trust in the strength of
Sir, through faith, and then do the work. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones listed many ways in which he
believe that Christians waste their strength:

a. Engaging in too many spiritual works or things

b. Much talk (words and little action)
c. Arguments, debates, quarrels
d. Laziness
a. An unequal yoke with an unbeliever
f. Unholy entertainment
g. A wrong attitude towards or doubting the Word of God

If this list contains elements that we have insisted on, then we are wasting time and effort.
unnecessarily

2. The commandment for the whole armor of God.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the
devil's chances.
a. Clothes of the whole armor of God: The armor of God will be explained in its entirety in the following
passage; but the emphasis is that we must use it all, without leaving any of its components aside. God
He gives the believer a complete set of equipment, and He sends us into battle with everything we need, that is
that puts ALL THE ARMOR at our disposal.

This armor is from God, it belongs to Him, moreover, in the Old Testament, it is the Lord who wears it.

Isaiah 59:17: For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing.

God now shares that armor with us, this is why Romans 8:37 tells us that we are.
more than conquerors.

And what is this Armor for? SIMPLE…So that you can stand firm against the wiles of the
Pablo mentions the purpose of using this armor; to be firm, and this firmness must be
against the machinations that the devil has planned against our lives. The word
Asechanza means: a hidden or disguised threat to harm someone. The Bible teaches us
the enemy's strategies.. That is why we are warned in:

around searching for someone to devour;

God is so wonderful that He warns us first, teaching us and giving us the strategies to use them in
against the enemy's plans

3. The fact of spiritual warfare

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
principalities, against the governors of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts
of evil in the celestial regions.
a. Because we do not wrestle against flesh and blood: Paul went on to say that the enemy against whom the
Christianity teaches that fighting is not human. The enemy is spiritual, and the war is spiritual. It is for this reason.
that we need a spiritual power, a spiritual armor

Only the armor of God can withstand the strategy and attack of Satan, because the devil has at his disposal all
class of spiritual weapons against us. That is why it is so important to recognize that we do not fight
against a human enemy. The path to victory over the devil is to obey the command to put on the whole
the armor of God, and resist.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of
Our weapons are not carnal, but mighty in God for the destruction of strongholds.

c. Principalities, against powers, against the governors of the darkness of this world, against hosts
spirituals of evil in the heavenly realms: Paul used a variety of terms to refer to
our spiritual enemies. In the end, it doesn't matter if the opponent we face is a principality, or
power, or ruler of the last fogs of this century. Together, they are all members of the hosts
evil spiritual beings in the heavenly realms. All are under the direction of Satan, the devil, who comes
to us with their deceptions, accusations, bad memories, confusion, and condemnation.

The Bible teaches us about these principalities and powers in other passages in the New Testament.

Romans 8:38.39 For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
powers, nor the present, nor the things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will separate us
will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
None of the "spiritual authorities" can separate us from the love of God. Prior to these
verses, Paul mentions a long list of terrible things that can happen, but he places
also to our opponents in the spiritual struggle. It is very important to know this, because
One of the strategies of the Devil is to make us believe that God has separated Himself from us.
especially when we sin, when the Bible says that He is truly the one who draws near to
we...as shown by sending Jesus to die for us, out of His love for us. John 3:16
Ephesians 1:20-21 which worked in Christ, raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the
heavenly places, especially principality and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is
name, not only in this century, but also in the one to come;
The power of Jesus Christ is far above all principalities and powers, and as Colossians 2:10 says,
Jesus is the head over all principality and power.
Colossians 2:15 and having disarmed the principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them,
triumphing over them on the cross.
Therefore, our victory is based not on ourselves, but on what Jesus did. It is not that we do not
there is nothing to be done on our part - but what we do is the appropriation and application of what
Jesus did.

4. The appropriate response to spiritual warfare.

Ephesians 6:13 Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the day
bad, and having finished everything, be firm.
Therefore, take up the whole armor of God: Paul introduces again the idea of the whole armor of God.
from Ephesians 6:11, but gives the order to take it. What follows will be a detail of the items
specifics related to the armor of God. In this verse, he simply states what it is
main purpose of spiritual warfare and the armor of God.
b. So that you can stand firm on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm: This describes when
We use the power and armor of God. There will be really difficult days. Have you used the armor of God?
on those bad days? One of the commandments is to resist the Devil, so that once everything is over,
remain steadfast, planted. When do we stand firm? On the Rock that is Jesus

How does the Bible affirm that we should stand firm? Under what circumstances? (optional)

a. We stand firm in grace (Romans 5:2).

b. We stand firm in the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1).
c. We are steadfast in faith and power (1 Corinthians 16:13).
d. We stand firm in the faith (2 Corinthians 1:24).
e. We stand firm in Christian freedom (Galatians 5:1).
We are firm in Christian unity (Philippians 1:27).
g. We are firm in the Lord (Philippians 4:1).
We should be steadfast, perfect, and complete in the will of God (Colossians 4:12).
5. The spiritual armor to have.

Ephesians 6:14-15 Stand firm, then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, and with the breastplate of righteousness in place.
the breastplate of righteousness, and fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

a. Be firm, then: There is an emphasis on staying firm, remember that. Do you think that
Is he always steadfast in Christ?

Upon seeing these verses, we must know that the order in which the pieces of the armor are described is the
order in which a soldier would put them on.

b. Gird your loins with truth: Truth is symbolically represented as a belt.

which protects the abdomen, and which lifts our clothing to fight effectively.
The belt worn by the soldiers was wide and served to keep the inner tunic in place.
the time when it protected and supported the body. In the same way, the Christian must know the truth
about who one is in Jesus and living an upright life that honors his position in Christ.

The devil will try to deceive us with his lies so that we fail, doubt, waver or
let's commit to our identity. We must stand firm in the truth that we are children of
God, The belt of truth places the Biblical beliefs of Christians as a whole - what
other passages call it faith.
1. How to use the belt: fill your mind and your heart with the truth of God's word. Cultivate
a deep friendship with God through prayer. Strengthen your spirit each day by praising
God and spending time with Him. Live a life of integrity in all your actions and words.

c.Dress with the breastplate of justice: Justice is represented by a breastplate, which provides a
essential protection for the most vital organs. We cannot fight against our enemies.
spiritual in our own justice, in the same way that a soldier cannot fight
effectively without its shell,
1. "Thank God for the experiences, but do not rely on them. You do not put on 'the armor of
experiences, you put on the armor of 'justice.'" (Lloyd-Jones)

The armor was hooked to the belt and protected vital organs. A wound to the chest can be
mortal and that is why the soldier must cover it well. Likewise, we must clothe ourselves with justice.
God that we have through Jesus.

Isaiah 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head;
he took garments of revenge as a vesture, and covered himself with zeal as with a mantle,

How to use the breastplate: remember your identity in Christ, that thanks to him you have been justified and
you belong to God for eternity. Do not believe the accusations of the enemy when he brings to your mind
the sins of the past as if they defined your present. Don't believe when they tell you no
you can overcome a temptation.

2. Having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: The feet need to be well protected.
to advance in the battle. The enemy can place sharp objects or traps to harm us.
to fall and prevent us from moving forward. Their goal is to stop us from going out to proclaim the gospel of peace.
You can be attacked with temptations, complexes, feelings of inferiority, anxiety, people who mock...
the list is long. But in Christ our feet are firm and ready to carry the gospel of the
peace. We take steps and gain ground (lives) for the kingdom of God because he empowers us and because
we ourselves have experienced its peace.
3. Apresto is a word that means 'a prepared foundation.' The gospel provides the footwear.
for everything we do. No matter how powerful the rest of your body is, if you are injured
From your feet, you are an easy target for the enemy.

How to use the footwear: Let the peace of God fill your heart every day. Pastime with Jesus
and strengthen your spirit. Do not let the enemy's traps hinder your progress and effectiveness.
Affirm your feet, ask God to give you courage, and share His gospel of peace with all those you
rodean.

Talk to them about that peace that surpasses all understanding.

Romans 10:15...As it is written: !!How beautiful are the feet of those who announce peace, of
those who announce good news!

6. The spiritual armor to take.

Ephesians 6: 16-18 Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which
it is the word of God;
a.Above all: This actually has the idea of, 'adding to the above' (which is the armor of God) and
applies to each of the three pieces of armor. Notice the idea, 'this piece of armor is the extra'
MORE important than anything else.
b.Take up the shield of faith:
1. This is a different section. In Ephesians 6:13-14 it tells us about the armor to wear, it is like the
parts of the armor that we must wear all the time. Therefore, having comes first.
We must be rooted in the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, and the 'boots of
"combat" of the gospel.
2. Now we come to the portomar armor. These aspects of the armor are what we take from
situation in situation, as the moment demands. In situations such as having a crisis of
depression or discouragement, or when a relatively insignificant thing explodes in a way
gigantic. In those critical moments, we need:
Take up the shield of faith.
b. Take the helmet of salvation.
c. Take the sword of the word of God.
3. Take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one: Here
Pablo not only mentions the part of the armor, but he also tells us what we will use it for.
a. The shield that Pablo describes is not the round and small one, but the long shield.
oblong that can protect the entire front of the body, from head to feet.
It was resistant and covered in leather because sometimes the enemy attacked with arrows.
lit and the leather acted as a protective insulator. In ancient wars, these darts
fire were launched in large numbers at the beginning of an attack. The idea was not only the
to hurt the enemy, but rather to strike him from all sides with a massive number of darts, and thus,
confuse him, scare him, and kill him.
With the shield of faith we can extinguish all the arrows fired at us by the evil one. The attack
the devil can come from anywhere, that's why it's important to be alert in order to
to place the shield in the right spot and protect us. One of the weapons that the devil uses with
frequency is the doubt.
A. "Even when the missile was caught by the shield and did not penetrate the body, Livy says,
it caused panic, as it was thrown when it was well lit, and its movement through the air
it made him burn fiercely, thus the soldier was tempted to get rid of his shield that was
in flames to be exposed to the enemy's spears. But the shield of faith not only
it catches the incendiary devices, but it extinguishes them.
B. Thoughts, feelings, imaginings, fears, lies, doubts - all of these can
They are launched at us by Satan as fiery darts. Faith extinguishes them.
C. How to use the shield: feed your faith by reading and memorizing the word of God, pastime
with God. Fill your mind with the truth about Him and about who you are in Him so you can use
that truth when doubts arrive.
Some darts from the fire of the maligo:
Our first weapon is the truth. Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, putting away falsehood,
Speak the truth, each one with his neighbor; for we are members of one another.
The condemnation: Conviction is a legitimate work of the Holy Spirit that produces guilt over
our sins and takes us to the cross to receive forgiveness. Condemnation, on the other hand,
produces guilt and leaves your victim with a feeling of desperation, frustration
self-pity, Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus,
The doubt: doubts about the very existence of God, or whether He wants to solve your problem, or not.
He will listen to our prayer. Genesis 3, the devil questions the word of God. 'Did God...
He has said... with that the Bible says" Mark 4:14 The sower is the one who sows the word. 15 And
these are the ones by the road: in whom the word is sown, but after they hear it,
Then Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Fear: One of the enemy's great victories has been in this area.
Negative thoughts: The devil lurks and finds much space in our mind... has
You are praying, worshiping God, and suddenly bad or other thoughts appear?
Will I get sick from covid? Are they talking badly about me?

1. We do not preach out of fear of what others will say.

We do not serve in the church out of fear of making mistakes.
3. We do not give tithes out of fear of becoming poor.
4. We do not leave the world out of fear of losing worldly friends... etc.

Solution? 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of
own domain. Therefore, do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, nor of me, his prisoner, but
partake in the afflictions for the gospel according to the power of God

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord God is the strength of the ages.
e Depression: We get depressed because we believe that it seems there is no hope, the situations.
they often seem to have no way out.

Romans 5:13 And may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope.
by the power of the Holy Spirit.

f Temptation: The enemy is always inciting us to do evil, to rebel against God, to satisfy
the meat.

1 Thessalonians 3:5 For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to find out about your faith,
lest the tempter should have tempted you, and our labor should be in vain

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

So, brothers and sisters, read the Bible

And take the helmet of salvation: In the ancient world, this was a leather cap
reinforced with metal to give it greater strength. Salvation is painted as a type of helmet.
(helmet), protecting an essential material. A soldier would be foolish to go into battle without his helmet.
1. The helmet protects the head. Our mind must be filled with the certainty of our
salvation. We must live each day the life that God wants us to live as His children,
anchored in that certainty and with our hearts full of gratitude.

2 Corinthians 10:5

thought to the obedience to Christ,

How to use the helmet: Remember that you are saved by faith in Jesus and that no one can change that.
Live in trust and in obedience the life that Jesus desires for you.

The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: This is the only weapon of attack, the others are rather
Defensive. The sword is used for both defense and to attack the enemy.

1. The word of God lights our way (Psalm 119:105) and illuminates our minds with the
teaching of the gospel. With the sword of the Spirit, we defend ourselves and face the attacks.
from the enemy (lies, deceit, temptation) while we attack him with the truth.
2. Let us remember the example of Jesus when he was tempted, how he used the word effectively to
overcoming the temptations of the devil (Matthew 4).
3. To use the sword effectively, we must understand that it is the Word of God. If we do not have

The sword requires practice. It is necessary to know it, scrutinize it, memorize it. How well do you know it?

7. How to use spiritual strength and the armor of God.

a. Praying at all times with all prayer: prayer groups, individual prayer, silent prayer,
prayer crying out, prayer while we walk, prayer on our knees, eloquent prayer, prayer
constant, fervent prayer, etc - just pray.
The Christian soldier prepares for battle, strengthens himself, and receives his orders through the
prayer. Communication with God, our Commander, must be constant to strengthen us and

2. For all the saints: We must not only pray for our struggles, challenges, or difficulties, but also
We must support our brothers in prayer.
