The Power of Continuous Prayer
The Power of Continuous Prayer
Prayer is like a continuous flame that allows us to see the power of God manifest.
Many men and women have experienced the power of continuous prayer. Some
Churches organize houses of prayer that operate twenty-four hours a day for
bring the prayers before the throne of grace and ask for God's action. If Jesus did not explain to
his disciples how to preach, he instead taught how to pray. He thus showed the importance
from the prayer for our life even before entrusting us with the mission to go announce to the nations the good
news of the Gospel.
Psalm 84 v.10: "Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.
The times we spend in the presence of God are wonderful times during which
we can learn its secrets. Know that the more we pray, the stronger we are; conversely,
the less we pray, the weaker we are because prayer enables the manifestation of power
God in our life.
The question we can ask ourselves is: how to gain more power? The answer is
Simple: spend more time in prayer. Look at your life and ask yourself this question: is it
Do I pray enough? Some will say they pray enough and others that they do not pray enough, even...
not at all.
Why pray?
1
Pray for your brothers and sisters, pray for your Church, pray for a nation, pray for your family.
for your wife, for your children because this is what God calls us to daily. And when
we pray, we see transformations happening in our real life.
One day, I was talking to a mother whose son was doing drugs. She said to me: "I don't know how to handle it."
for my son to come to Church. It is my dearest wish because I know that God can help him." My response
It was simple: "Pray. Every evening, go to his room and pray to the Lord to touch him and that he may be able to
make this wonderful meeting.
After this conversation, this mother went to her son's room every evening before he went to sleep.
bed for praying. After three months, this young boy came to the Church and gave his heart to
Christ.
Prayer performs miracles even when everything seems hopeless; it changes the course of situations.
I give you another testimony: a father used to pray for his children, including one who...
particular; every day he went to church to pray for himself. The child did not understand why he
he did this because he was a Christian himself and also went to church, so he asked
his father to stop praying. Some time later, the child felt tormented: spirits were coming
attacked him and the flame that shone within him was about to extinguish. The father immediately
realized and went to pray in the room with his son. At that moment, the spirits that were stirring this
the boy left them and he was able to walk with God again. Since then he has learned to clothe himself with
God's weapons through prayer.
It may seem like a small thing: a father praying, a mother praying... but it changes everything and
brings peace and security.
God answers prayer
I have often seen God answer my prayers. I especially remember a lady who was in
intensive care in a hospital: following a motorcycle accident, she ended up in a coma and her
family had called me to pray for her. She was thirty-eight years old and had three children. The diagnosis
was not very reassuring since the doctors diagnosed a lifelong disability if one day she got out of
coma. And I find myself face to face with this person, with tubes everywhere. So I start to pray.
for her, asking God to heal her. And glory to God since a little while later, this lady
woke up: today she went home and she lives with her three children, without any
sequela.
I also remember a young girl who used to come to the Church, perhaps some will recall her:
she was all curled up on herself and had difficulty moving. One day, I prayed for her in
he imposed hands. At that moment, nothing happened, but a few months later, she returned to
the Church and it was no longer recognizable: it stood upright on its legs and could move
Normally. The power of prayer is truly extraordinary.
God tells us to pray
When Jesus speaks, he does not say 'If you pray...' But he says: 'When you pray...' (Matthew 6:6)
The apostle Paul is even more precise when he says:
1 Thessalonians 5:17: "Pray without ceasing.
The Bible teaches us how necessary it is for a Christian to pray, and to pray continuously!
2
I remember the fast we had last year, forty days of fasting and prayer
during which we invoked God. The results did not take long: a few months later, all
the prayers had been answered and many situations had been resolved. God has accomplished some
Things that were humanly unimaginable because he listens and answers prayer.
But the problem today is that when we do not receive an immediate answer to prayer,
we stop. But God invites us to persevere in prayer, without ceasing! It is the deadly weapon of
believer who brings the enemy under our feet. But one must also ask, with faith and
perseverance
John 16:24: "Ask, and you shall receive.
Do you not say that nothing is impossible for God and that everything is possible for one who believes.
Here are seven points that will guide you so that your prayer becomes effective and you can see the
God's hand transforms your lives.
Prayer is your first choice
In the face of a difficulty, prayer should be your first reflex and not the last. You must not
use prayer as a last resort, when everything seems lost to you. From the start, you must ask.
the help of God.
Often, when people come to me regarding a challenge they are facing, I
I mean to say at the end of our conversation: 'Thank you pastor for praying for me, I am really at my wit's end and God'
is my last resort." But this attitude is not the right one. Prayer should be your first.
recourse, it must be your first means of defense against difficulties. You must not lose any
time trying to solve the problem by yourselves, you must immediately hand it over to
God.
Too often people start to pray when they realize that things are going wrong for them.
escape. But prayer is the lung of the Christian! In other words, it is a reflex. It allows us
to proclaim God's promises for His people and to rely on them.
Deuteronomy 28:13: "The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, you will always be on top and you will not
will never be down
This promise is wonderful and assures us of God's blessing! But it cannot be fulfilled
that through the power of prayer.
Prayer allows you to enter into God's will.
It is not easy to enter into God's plan for your life. But know that God allows you to
choice: he does not force you to do his will. He puts before you the path of life and the path of the
death, it's up to you to choose your direction.
Following God does not exempt us from trials, but their purpose is to lead us where God
wants us to go.
An example, Saul of Tarsus. He is walking on the road to Damascus and suddenly he hears a voice say to him:
I am Jesus whom you persecute." At this revelation, he falls to the ground and becomes blind. Then his
companions take him to Damascus where he fasts for three days, still blind. He who was so zealous.
3
For the Law, here he is blind, being unable to do anything anymore. But his heart was so hard that God
had to make him go through this trial to transform him.
At the same time, God sends an angel to speak to a Christian named Ananias. He listens.
pay attention to what the angel says to him: 'Get up, go to the street called Straight, and seek, in the
house of Judas, a man named Saul of Tarsus because he is prayingActs 9:11). Ananias is afraid because Saul of Tarsus is
Recognized for persecuting Christians, but he obeys. As soon as he enters the house, he lays his hands on.
and pray for Saul of Tarsus who is immediately healed.
Upon regaining his sight, he becomes a new man who now follows the voice of God. All of this has
passed through the power of prayer.
Romans 8:26:Similarly, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know what it ...
It is fitting for us to ask in our prayers. But the Spirit himself intercedes with unutterable groans.
4
In our prayers, we must seek the Spirit of God.
Very often we do not know what we should ask for or how to express our need.
to God; we cannot find words to express what we desire.
But what is reassuring is that God knows our hearts: He sees our weaknesses, He knows our doubts and
He knows exactly what we need. In our assembly, I often hear a person
who praises God and who after a while always ends up exclaiming that she cannot find the words
to tell him all the love she feels... But know that God sees what is in your heart.
Our language limits us and we do not know how to intercede or what we must do.
to say to God. Some are even afraid to express themselves, but glory to God because the Holy Spirit is there to
help us. When we do not know what to say or when we cannot express our desires,
let the Holy Spirit speak for us: he knows our inner being and knows what we need
need.
Prayer breaks the shroud
Prayer allows to break the veil that is over a nation. I remind you that in the former USSR, the Bible
and Christian gatherings were banned. Just being with another brother
to pray could lead to prison. But men and women have prayed ceaselessly for that
change, and today these countries have opened up to God and it is no longer forbidden to express one's
It was. Everything the enemy wanted to do by distancing the people from God has collapsed.
In the face of all the massacres of Indians that had been perpetrated in the history of his country, Abraham
LINCOLN, President of the United States at that time, declared a day of fasting and prayer on the 30th.
April 1863 to ask God for forgiveness for that. For him, to pray and ask God for forgiveness for the
past allowed to break this spirit of war and division that reigned in his country at that time.
Prayer outfits us with the armor of God for victory.
Psalm 91:11: "For he will command his angels to keep you in all your ways.
We have the wonderful example of Peter who finds himself in prison, arrested by King Herod. Despite his
in captivity, he sings praises to God; and during the night, an angel comes and opens the doors of his
cell to release him. The first place he heads to is Marie's house; when he arrives
At her place, he finds the other apostles who were praying for him.
God sends his angels to grant us victory in the battle.
During a seminar in Switzerland, I personally experienced this extraordinary moment of seeing and
to touch an angel. It was a meeting with apostles and prophets, one of whom had for
ministry of calling the angels. It was a powerful experience that was actually the origin of this fast of
forty days.
Here are seven points that will help you have an effective prayer. Put them into practice and you will see.
transformations will take place in your life.
Now, let's look at the reasons why God does not answer prayer. We must be
Vigilant because there is effective prayer, to which God responds, and ineffective prayer that will have no effect.
5
What does the Word of God say? 'Ask and you will receive.'
But the problem is that we do not ask! Yet we have a mouth to speak, to
ask! But we often think that it is not necessary to ask or that it
shame: we say to ourselves: "God knows all things, He knows what I desire." But without asking, He is
impossible to receive.
Of course, God has the solution to all our problems; but do you ask Him to help you? To intervene?
in your favor? Yet this is what the Bible teaches us.
A poorly addressed prayer
Then, we do not pray in the name of Jesus. Yet God has given us only one name for
the prayer, that of Jesus, for he reconciled humanity with God.
When you want a promotion, you go see your manager and not your neighbor in the hallway;
you know who you need to talk to: the neighbor can't do anything for you, it depends on your
superior.
Likewise, for all requests, we must turn to God. No need to address Mary.
or to other saints, only the name of Christ has been given to us. Mary is indeed the mother of Jesus whom she has.
conceived by the work of the Holy Spirit; but at the wedding at Cana, she will still say: 'Do whatever he tells you'
sayJohn 2:5). There is no need to pray to another deity either, for only the name of Jesus is
true.
It is very important to clarify this, because many prayers remain unanswered because
that they are not addressed to the right recipient, to God.
Pursuing one's personal satisfaction further
This is also an important point. Many people pray while seeking more of their
desires that the will of God. But the Bible assures us that if we ask for something according to His
will, God listens to us and He answers us.
Thus, to be heard, we must seek God's desires because not everything is in His will.
But rest assured: if something is not in God's will for our life, it is because this
is not good for you and that God wants to protect you from it. Like a father who would refuse to let
taking your son out the night before an important exam, God does not grant us certain things because they
would be more harmful to us.
Pray with empty words
We must not pray in a vain manner with words that sound hollow. Sometimes, when
I hear people praying, I have the impression that they are not saying what they feel but that they
reciting a text: they have beautiful words, but inside it is empty. God wants us to pray with
our heart: it does not want to hear us give a beautiful speech, it wants us to talk to it about what
we feel, of our pains, of our sorrows and that we talk about them with faith while expecting to
his action in our life. He does not want a prayer of appearance but a prayer of faith.
Pray for the wrong problem
If you have pain in a leg, you are not going to pray for your teeth! It seems obvious, yet in
In prayers, we often tend to pray for everything except for our true problem.
For your prayer to be effective, you must pray precisely, even if it may disturb you. With
God, we are in trust and we should not be ashamed: we can confide everything to Him.
6
In any case, know that God sees into the depths of your heart and sees what is happening there without
that he only needs us not to tell him.
The lack of humility
When we approach God, we must always ask Him to forgive our sins.
and to cleanse us by the blood of Christ. Prayer should not be proud: it is a time during
in which we humble ourselves before the face of God. God does not desire to crush us, He wants to
on the contrary, we must elevate ourselves. But before that, we must humble ourselves and recognize that it is he who does
all things and who gives everything we have.
And just as God loves us and accepts our mistakes, we must act towards our
next.
Prayer brings the power of God into your life and that of your loved ones. You can change
the course of any situation through the means of prayer.
Prayer: Lord, I ask you to give your children the desire to raise this altar of prayer. May it be
like a permanent fire that is the emanation of our lives. May this flame that burns in our lives be
a flame that stands before the throne of grace.
Lord, I ask you to rekindle this flame in the hearts of those who have drifted away and of those
who ask you to come to the aid of their disbelief.
Lord, restore this flame. It is a joy, a pleasure to pray and spend time in your presence.
Even before going to announce the Gospel, you ask us to be men and women of prayer.
Lord, visit your children so that we may be of one heart and one soul so that those
may those who live far from your face come to you.
Lord, I ask you to visit the proud and give them your wisdom so that they may come to
you and serve you.
May the God of all blessings send His favor upon the families of His people and may they be
blessed from age to age and from eternity to eternity.
