IMMOBILIZATION SYSTEM
FROM THE NISSAN VEHICLE
(NATS)
GENERAL OPERATION
INTRODUCTION
Nissan's anti-theft system (NATS) was introduced
initially around 1995 with a basic immobilizer,
that did not use the dominant transponders. This system
it was known as NATS 1.
NATS 2 was introduced later, it uses the
transponder technology. Other interactions of the system
NATS has been introduced, up to NATS 6.5.
previous systems use access by measuring time
of safety, similar to Ford systems, which require
a period of time before the keys can be
scheduled.
NATS 5 uses a secret code, like with the systems of
GM and VAG. This system was applied in vehicles to
from 2001 onwards.
Another development is the introduction of the CAN system that
it was first introduced in the Micra 2003. The system of
The Micra comes in two different shapes. The system
intelligent or non-intelligent system.
NATS IGNITION KEY
This uses standard transponder technology, and has a
blue or red dot to identify the types of transponder
crypto and non-crypto.
The blue chips are used in the latest NATS 5.
When programming is done, in NATS systems 1
until NATS 4, all keys stored in memory
are suppressed, however in NATS 5 the keys
additional ones can be added. Up to 5 keys can
to be programmed in NATS systems 5, and 4 keys in
NATS systems 2.3 and 4.
NATS IMMOBILISER UNIT
The NATS immobilizer unit is installed.
usually next to the ignition switch or behind
from the area of the fascia. The unit is sometimes also mounted
with one more unit.
The NATS immobilizer sends a signal to the module of
engine control (ECM) that inhibit the start.
In more recent systems there is also an entry to
audio system, which if disconnected inhibits the
vehicle startup.
In CAN systems, the function of the immobilizer is part
of the body control module (BCM), controlling the
signals to the engine control module (ECM) that inhibit the
start.
NATS SECURITY INDICATOR
The safety LED is installed in the dashboard area.
instruments and it usually indicates the state of the system.
When a problem is detected, the LED will indicate the fault.
according to what is listed in the following table when the ignition
is ON or in the accessory position.
NON-INTELLIGENT SYSTEM
This system uses a key with a remote control
combined in the key head.
INTELLIGENT SYSTEM
The intelligent system uses a blade key that
it can be folded and used in emergencies.
This system works by detecting proximity.
when the driver is within a few feet of the
vehicle, the door opens automatically. To turn on
the vehicle the driver presses
press the brake pedal and turn the ignition switch without putting the
key in the ignition cylinder.
TIPS
5 keys can be programmed in NATS 5, the rest of the
system allows 4 keys. NATS 5 requires a PIN code,
if the big letter on the antenna label is an A
so the PIN code is 5523, however if the letter is
A random PIN code will need to be searched for.
the distributor.
In current systems, the programming procedure with
the AD100 requires you to pay attention to the warning focus of the
engine for confirming the complete programming of
the key.
When programming a key, wait for the warning light of the
the motor stopped flashing this indicates a scheduled with
key success. And insert the next key
what is going to be programmed at that point.
There are various color transponders for the various
signal frequencies.
