REMOVABLE FAIRINGS — MAINTENANCE PRACTICES


1. Removable Fairings
A. General
Removable fairings are provided on exterior surfaces to facilitate servicing, inspection and
maintenance of aircraft systems and components. These include WTBF and bullet fairings and skirt
fairings on vertical / horizontal stabilizers. The bullet and skirt fairings are covered in Empennage /
Stabilizers Access Panels, 06-50-07, Maintenance Practices.
(1) Wing to Body Fairing
The WTBF begins at FS 334.77, stretches +/-56.500 along the BLs and ends at FS 886.210.
It wraps over and under the wing. There are total of 19 panels and some contain doors and
access panels for easy access to various systems.
It is divided into the following four major sections (see Figure 201):
• Forward section - FS 336.680 - FS 511.500
• Midupper section - FS 511.500 - FS 739.000
• Midlower section - FS 511.500 - FS 686.500
• Aft section - FS 739.000 - FS 886.210
