Mental Health in the Digital Age

Abstract
Digital technology has reshaped mental health care by enabling teletherapy, mental health
apps, and online support communities. This paper explores these developments and
associated risks.

Introduction
With growing mental health concerns globally, technology has emerged as both a tool and a
challenge. While it improves access to care, overuse of digital media may worsen mental
health outcomes.

Methodology
Literature from psychiatry journals and data from mental health platforms were analyzed
to understand benefits and limitations of digital mental health tools.

Results
Telehealth has increased access, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. However,
studies show correlations between excessive social media use and anxiety or depression in
adolescents.

Conclusion
Digital tools are vital in expanding mental health care, but must be complemented by
human oversight and ethical safeguards.
