I. Introduction

The WASH in Schools (WinS) Program, an initiative spearheaded by the Department of

Education in partnership with various agencies, aims to promote a healthy learning
environment by ensuring access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in
schools. At Maabud Elementary School, the program is implemented as a priority health
initiative to instill good hygiene practices among learners and staff and to reduce the
incidence of hygiene-related illnesses, thereby improving students’ attendance, participation,
and learning outcomes.

II. Objectives

 Some learners still required continuous motivation to practice hygiene routines
consistently.

VI. Recommendations

1. Allocate additional funds for the expansion of WASH facilities, especially for early
grade classrooms.
2. Strengthen partnerships with local government and NGOs for technical and material
support.
3. Integrate more health and hygiene education activities in the school curriculum.
4. Regularly monitor and evaluate implementation using updated WinS tools.

VII. Conclusion

The WASH in Schools (WinS) Program at Maabud Elementary School has significantly
contributed to the promotion of a healthy and safe learning environment. Despite limited
resources, the school has demonstrated commitment to the program through active
stakeholder participation, continuous improvement of facilities, and consistent hygiene
promotion. Moving forward, Maabud ES will continue to enhance its implementation
strategies to sustain the positive impact of the WinS program on its learners and the broader
school community.
