REPORT SUMMARY

I. OBJECTIVES OF THE ACTIVITY:


 To enhance the awareness and understanding of CSOs on the importance of civil society
participation.
 To provide the guidelines on the process for accreditation and selection of CSOs and their
representative the LSBs.

II. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ACTIVITY:


The CSO Conference was attended by 112 participants in the different sectors of the municipality.
Four topics (Relevance of participatory governance; Guidelines on the Accreditation of CSOs and
Reconstitution of LSBs; Avenues of CSO participation and Local People’s Council ) were discussed
and all participants were given kits containing sample forms needed for their accreditation.
Participants were given the opportunity to clarify matters during the open forum.

III. OUTPUT/S OF THE ACTIVITY:


 The CSO participants became aware and understand the importance of civil society participation
in governance and the avenues of their participation.
 The CSO participants found out the process for accreditation and selection of their
representatives to the LSBs.
