Sunday service: preacher Rev. T.S. Lekopanye
Theme: Grace chose you over all.
Grace is the ever willingness of God to show (love, mercy, power, favour and all good things He has
for us).
Grace is the unmerited favour. Is God showing favour to undeserving or unworthy people?
Scriptures reading: 1 Samuel 10:20-27
1Samuel 16:1-13
1. Grace chooses unconditionally.
God chooses from behind while man chooses from the front. Man chooses from the physical
point of view, what he sees. But God looks beyond the physical. 1Samuel 13:14
God chose Saul king over Israel from a small tribe of Israel, one will expect a king to be
chosen from Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Joseph or one of the eleven but it came from the 12 th
tribe, in one of the ancient clans of the tribes of BENJAMIN and this was the only time it was
mentioned in the bible when king Saul was chosen king.
In the same manner, when David was chosen king 1 Samuel 16:5,7, prophet Samuel look at
the outlooks. David was the last born and they even forgot about him. God rejected the
seven, God has not chosen, but verses 11-13
- Many are called but few are chosen. Mat. 22:14
2. Grace qualifies the unqualified. Grace overrides your inadequacy
Who will expect a king to come from the small tribe like Saul, more over from unknown and
unpopular clan?
David qualified to be king from the bush or a shepherd boy than his brothers who were grow
up and physically strong.
Moses was a fugitive with impediment of speech but God chose him to go an deliver his
children in Egypt. Remember he murdered an Egyptian that led him to run away into the
desert median. Grace overrides his inadequacy and qualifies him to be a leader.
-God chose the poor James 2:5
-1Cor.15:9-10 unworthy to called an apostle because he persecuted the church but by grace
he has been qualified to be apostle.
3. Grace empowers; it enables one to perform or fulfil his/ her assignment or calling
-Romans 8:33 stop allowing the devil to lay charges against your, for past mistakes that you
did, God has justified you. You have just been set free. Neither lay charges against you by
self condemnation. Romans 8:1 there is therefore no condemnation to them which are in
Christ.
-Mat. 12:18 Grace Gives you power through the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel
-Jesus called his disciples, who were fishers to be fishers of men, you can read from the
synoptic gospels in acts 1:8 he commanded them to tarry in Jerusalem till they are endued
with power from on high and they shall be his witnesses in Jerusalem, Samarra and Judea
and to the uttermost parts of the world. In acts 2:1 we see on the day of Pentecost they are
filled with the Holy Spirit power and began to do the supernatural. Empowered.
