II. Read the following passage and do as directed (1.5 pt)
One of the most breathtaking natural wonders in the world is the Grand Canyon, located in the state of
Arizona, USA. The canyon stretches for about 446 kilometers and is up to 1,857 meters deep. It was
carved by the Colorado River over millions of years and is famous for its stunning rock formations,
colorful layers, and unique geological history. Scientists believe that the rocks in the Grand Canyon date
back nearly two billion years, making it one of the oldest landscapes on Earth.
Visitors from all over the world come to admire the beauty of the canyon. They enjoy hiking along its
trails, rafting in the Colorado River, or simply taking in the spectacular views from observation points.
The Grand Canyon National Park was established in 1919 to protect this incredible site, and in 1979, it
was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Apart from its breathtaking scenery, the Grand Canyon is home to a wide range of wildlife, including
bighorn sheep, mountain lions, and over 400 species of birds. The climate in the canyon varies greatly
depending on the elevation, with the top being much cooler than the bottom.
However, despite its beauty, the Grand Canyon faces environmental challenges. Over-tourism, pollution,
and climate change threaten the delicate ecosystem. If people do not take proper action to preserve this
natural wonder, future generations may not be able to experience its true beauty.

When learning English, I find speaking the most challenging, and I have done several things
to improve it. Firstly, I practice speaking every day by talking to myself in English. This helps me
feel more confident. Secondly, I watch English movies and repeat sentences to improve my
pronunciation. I also try to think in English instead of my first language. Thirdly, I speak with
friends and teachers in English whenever I can. Sometimes, I record my voice and listen to it to
find mistakes. Finally, I use apps to practice speaking with native speakers. These activities have
helped me improve, and I feel more comfortable speaking English now. I will keep practicing to get
even better!
