1.1 Scope
It is the intent of this specification to describe a diesel engine driven, crawler tractor, equipped with
hydraulically operated semi-universal dozer with power tilt cylinder & one shank rippers with
hydraulically variable pitch having operating weight of minimum 37,000 kg
1.2 Service Requirement
The Crawler Tractor be supplied shall be used in construction projects in Ethiopia where the
following climate altitude and temperature variations shall be experienced:-
Climate varies from humid tropics to arid desert.
Temperature varies from 00C to 50 0C
Altitude varies from sea level to an average of 2500 meters elevation

1.3 Manufacturing Requirements
All parts attachments and accessories not specifically mentioned of this specification but
essential for dependable and efficient operation of the unit shall furnishes by the supplier as part
of bid and shall be in accordance with the current engineering and manufacturing practices and
according to prevailing trade provisions in general
1.4 Materials (MANDATORY)
The materials of which all parts attachments accessories and component of the unit bid upon are
manufactured and assembled shall be of the current and latest model in its class and technology
plus durable and reliable for the intended purpose. The finish shall be of high quality and good
workmanship with dependable operation.
Bidders are required to specify the type and class of steel used to construct (manufacture) the
unit bid upon.
Bidders are required to attach certification of steel grade used to construct the unit bid upon
from the manufacturer with reference of known and accepted international standard applied.
1.4 Warranty (MANDATORY)
The supplier or the bidder shall guarantee that all items included and or furnished with this
upon shall be new unused of the most recent or current models and incorporate all recent
improvements in design and materials.
The bidder should also guarantee to replace free of charge (Transport Labor and other expenses
incurred thereof) any parts or component that breaks or fail to functions in any manner under
the service conditioned described herein due to defective or inferior materials of poor
workmanship with in a period of two year or 2000 hrs. Whichever comes last, from the date of
receipt of the unit at final destination?]
Supplier shall state to provide for extra 1000 hr. or 1 year.

1.5 Recommended Parts List
The bidder must furnish the suggested list of recommended spare parts for the first 5000 hrs. of
operation or with prices valid for a period of one year.
Bidders are also required to furnish service parts or service kits for the first 2000 Hrs. of
machine operation.
1.6 Pre-Delivery Service
The manufacturer or his delegated shall provide washing, lubrication and inspection and service
before the machine is put into operation.
1.7 Service Requirement
The Dozer to be supplied shall be capable of operating at different sites in Ethiopia where the
following operating conditions are experienced;
Climate varies from humid tropics to arid desert.
Temperature varies from 00c to 500c.
Altitude varies from sea level to an average of 2500 m elevation
Uneven, bumpy and loose gravel road surfaces.
1.8 Specification Waiver
Buyer reserve the right to partially or fully waive compliance to any of these specifications, and
makes awards on the basis that the interest of the Authority is best served.
1.9 After Sale Service Requirement. (Fundamental)/non fundamental
The bidder/Supplier shall under take all required preventive maintenance service & break down
maintenance of the unit bid up on in its after sale service facility/its certified local agents
maintenance facility and at operation sites (if required) for a period of machine acceptable &
recommended operation life time.( should furnish)

1.10 Dealership Preference. (Fundamental)
Preference of award will usually be given by the buyer to the bidder/supplier fulfilling each of the
following;
A well-established own/local agent after sale service facility in Addis Ababa.
A mix of skilled technical personnel, proficient enough to undertake repair and maintenance
service of the unit bid up on including any warranty claims of the equipment
Adequate in stock capacity of spare parts of the equipment to be furnished and document
showing spare part turn over.
Who can submit written evidences of supplies of such machines with a proven performance
from customers?
1.11 Training
Technical training on operation for two operators, repair and maintenance of the unit bid upon for
two technicians shall be Provided locally at the expense of the supplier/bidder.
1.12 Manuals and Tools
One copy of each of the following manuals in hard copies shall be supplied with the unit machine:
a. Operation manual
b. Spare parts catalogue
c. Service manual (shop/repair)
d. Mechanical & hydraulic repair tools/kits for each machine
e. Inbuilt GPS tracking system technology which controls productivity, idle time, fuel, equipment
safety etc
All manuals & catalogues shall cover the equipment itself, and all the components, attachments and
accessories thereof and any advertising literature will not be acceptable instead of these manuals. All
these materials shall be the English versions that are correctly worded which avoid any
misinterpretation of specification; terms in analyzing the bid.

1.13 Proven Performance
The dozer offered shall be current standard model of production which is substantially the same as
the model in successful use for a period of not less than one year or 2000 working hours of
operations.
1.14. Others
Bidder must provide the following data:
Manufacturer’s recommended lubricants and their change intervals (grease and oils, engine,
hydraulic, transmission, final drive, etc.)
Manufacturer’s recommendation of the change intervals of all filters (air cleaner, fuel filters,
engine oil filters, hydraulic oil filter, transmission oil filters etc.)

The Crawler Dozer shall be painted manufacturers standard color.

The diesel engine should perform smoothly and efficiently under all
conditions of operation described above & shall develop the rated
horsepower, when operating on commercial diesel fuel of locally available
with less Sulfur.

hour when the dozer is working under heavy workload.

2. Fuel System
2.1. Fuel Tank
Properly ventilated, protected both internally & externally from
corrosion and under side is guarded.
Adequate capacity to operate the machine for at least 10 hours
continuous operation under average load.

3 Cooling System

Incorporate efficient tropicalized thermostat.
All the cooling system heat exchangers shall be independent of one
another i.e. the removal of the engine cooler (for repair) should not
affect the hydraulic oil cooler.
Separate hydraulic oil cooler, hydrostatically driven, should be

3.1. Radiator
Tropicalized, heavy-duty construction properly mounted and -
equipped with core protection grill.

The wire harness shall be colored, number coded & all wiring shall be
enclosed in non-metallic loom.
