Good morning teachers and my dear friends.

My name is Geetesh Babu and I am studying in 6th class B section.

I would like to put before you all my views on how to save the oceans.

The distance between the thumb and the index finger of a normal person is 10
centimeters. And this is the rate at which the city of Jakarta in Indonesia sinks into
the oceans every year.

Oceans cover 71% of our planet and are home to important species and
ecosystems that we rely on for food, livelihood, climate regulation and more. Half
the oxygen we breathe comes from the oceans. Wow! That's like every second of
breath you take. But the oceans need our help. Saving the oceans can sometimes
feel like an overwhelming task.

But if we all pitch in, we can make a big difference. However, today, the oceans
are at risk from things like Plastic pollution. The ocean faces a massive and
growing threat from plastics. This is polluting our oceans and making our oceans
into a dustbin. And mind it, plastic never goes away.

Drilling for oil. Big companies drill into the ocean floor to take out oil. This oil can
leak into the water poisoning lots of sea creatures. Ocean dumping. Dangerous
waste at sea from vessels, aircraft platforms or other human-made structures is
dumped into the ocean recklessly. The Ocean is not a garbage can. We know that
when we protect our oceans, we are also protecting our future. Small changes in
our day-to-day activities could help us save the oceans.

Use social media to raise awareness about how to save the oceans. Reading and
writing blogs on methods and ways to conserve the ocean can help. The Ocean is
a free gift to mankind from God and it is our responsibility to hand it over the
same to the next generation.

Thank you All!
