Vyomashma – [Jade]

1. Synonyms- Yashabshila, Harinmani, Haritashma, Sange Yashab, Houladil.


2. Sources- Jharkhand, Kashmir, Ladakh, Tibet Newzealand, Turkey, Siberia and
China
3. Types- It is of 2 types- 1) Jadite[Praharija]- Sodium Aluminium Silicate
NaAlSi₂O₆
2) Nephrite[[Vrikkaja ]- Magnesium Calcium Silicate with
traces of iron.- Ca₂(Mg,Fe)₅Si₈O₂₂(OH)₂
4. Grahya Lakshana- Yellowish-green color, hard texture, and clean appearance.
5. Shodhana- Nirvapa in Arjuna Kwatha or rose water for twenty times.
6. Probable chemical Reaction for shodhana- When Vyomashma (silica/quartz) is
heated to a high temperature and then rapidly cooled in Arjuna Kwatha or rose
water, it experiences thermal stress, resulting in microstructural changes. A portion
of SiO₂ may undergo hydrolysis due to the water content present in the decoction.

7. arjuna bark contains tannins, flavonoids, and polyphenols, which may interact
with silica, leading to chelation or surface modifications:

SiO2+C6H6O3→Si−O−C6H5+H2O
Marana- Gaja puta is given after levigating it multiple times, repeating this process
for ten to twelve iterations.
