• 1 Phoenix Deck containing 26 regular cards and 26 double face cards
Please read these instructions before mixing the cards.
Foreword
This effect by Dave Arch was originally named Stage Filler. It plays extremely
well on stage, but we realized quickly that it also is very strong in close-up situ-
ations. The provided deck can either have regular Phoenix faces or our unique
Large Index faces for better visibility. Whatever style you receive, the handling
and instructions stay the same.
Preparation:
You’ll find that the “Teleporter” Deck consists of 26 regular cards and 26 double
faced cards. (If you are unfamiliar with Phoenix cards or in case you orde-
red the Large Index version of these cards, you can find out more about the
Phoenix Deck and its hidden secrets at www.release-the-power.com)
When you remove the deck of cards from the cardcase and the deck is “face
up”, you will be looking at a complete deck of 52 cards. If the 26 double-faced
cards are turned over, you will notice that they are duplicates of the cards in the
normal half of the deck.
To mix the deck, separate the regular cards from the double-faced cards and
give each pack a good shuffle. After shuffling the regular cards, remember the
card that ended up on the face of the pack or select another card that you can
remember from the pack easily and place it on the face of that half. You can
also corner short this card if you want to find that card quickly during perfor-
mance but it is not mandatory.
Place the other half with the double-facers on top of that pack to be able to
show 52 different cards. Put the cards back into the cardcase and you are
ready to perform.
Important note: Remember that you will be handling a pack of double fac-
er cards; be aware of your angles to avoid flashing on stage for the rest
of the audience.

Stage Presentation
Effect:
The magician invites four participants to join him on stage where he shuffles
and shows them a deck of cards. One of the spectators agrees that there are
no duplicates in the pack and the pack is a full deck.
One of the audience members on stage is asked to take about half of the deck
and position herself as far away from the other three as the stage will allow.
She is instructed to hold her half face down between her hands - ensuring no
one can get to her cards.
The remaining audience members look over the half that remains and each
selects any card they wish - naming out loud their card.
One by one each of the three audience members plays the role of the magici-
an by causing their card to invisibly fly through the air and enter the half of the
deck held on the other side of the stage.
After this byplay, the three audience members search through their half deck
only to find that their selections have indeed disappeared. As the committee
moves to the other side of the stage, the lady holding the cards spreads them
face up in her hands. One by one, as each audience member names his card,
the lady holding the pack of cards searches and finds each traveled card now
in her half.
Presentation:
Invite four audience members to join you on stage. Experience has taught me
to use two men and two women. You will stand on the far, right side of the sta-
ge as viewed by the audience with the four people in a semi-circle behind you
so that all can see what you are about to do.
Remove the “Teleporter” deck from the box and place the empty box in one
of your pockets. Holding the deck face down, casually spread the top half of
the deck to show the normal backs of the cards. Then turn the deck face up to
show that the deck is a complete and shuffled. There are no duplicates. If you
like, you can casually shuffle the deck face down by shuffling maybe about a
third of the deck and putting that talon back on top of the face down deck. If
you do this two or three times while addressing the spectators, everybody will
believe that you completely shuffled the deck.
Casually spread through the face up deck and locate the first card of the regu-
lar pack. Giving the lower half of the deck (normal cards) to one of the female
volunteers, have her walk to the far, left side of the stage (stage right). Have
her hold her half of the deck between the palms of her hands with her arms
extended from her body.
While you explain where you want her to stand, drop the half deck of cards that
remain in your hand (Double-Facers) and turn it over. Facing up will now be an
exact set of duplicate cards to what she’s holding between her palms.
The remaining three audience members look over the half that remains and
each selects any card they wish by naming it out loud. To confirm each selec-
tion, you outjog each named card, then after the three cards are selected, you
put them back into the spread and square up the cards.
Start with one of the three who is standing with you to name the card again that
he selected. Inform him that he will now play the role of the magician - causing
his card to travel from the packet on one side of the stage to the packet on the
other. “Would you like to see it travel visibly or invisibly?” Invariably they will
want it to go visibly. At which point, you search through the packet and find their
card informing him that all you’re going to do is hand him the card and have
him walk it across the stage and slip it between the palms of the lady.
After hearing that... he certainly wants to see it go invisibly. At this point have
him pretend to remove the card from the deck and carry it across the stage and
insert the invisible card between the palms of the lady. If you have ever worked
with an Invisible Deck, you know how fun this can be. You can tell him that you
noticed he dropped the card and he needs to stop and pick it up. Or tell him
that he should go in stealth mode so the lady doesn’t see what he is doing, etc.
While all of this is going on, you have plenty of misdirection to drop your hand
to your side and turn your half of the deck over again. Now returning to the
second spectator you ask for the name of his card. Have him remove the
card invisibly from the packet and this time stay where he is and spin the card
across the stage, between the palms of the lady on the other side of the stage.
Here again, you have much room for fun in your presentation. The lady could
wear safety glasses so as not to be paper cut by the thrown card, etc.
Finally, the third person gives the name of his card and is asked to invisibly re-
move it from your packet. His will be the most challenging of all: he has to spin
the card over the heads of the audience in boomerang fashion - having it land
between the palms of the lady. Here again the person lets the invisible card go,
follow the imaginary card with your eyes and indicate when the card has landed
between the lady’s palms.
“Did the packet get heavier?” you ask the lady. Any answer she gives will be a
funny answer. “Let’s see if it worked” you say as you spread the packet in your
hands. “What were your cards again?” No one can find their card in the face-up
spread. You look up with excitement at the lady across the stage. Her expres-
sion is usually priceless. You and the three other spectators now move across
the stage.
You put your half of the deck in your right pants pocket to free your hands for
taking the packet from the lady. “When you see your card, please remove it
from this spread?” you ask. One at a time they tell you as you look through the
deck and triumphantly remove each one. Each thought of card is magically
transported to the other half. The audience applauds as you send the volun-
teers back to their seats.
Close-up Presentation
Effect:
The magician invites four participants to join him at the card table where he
shuffles and shows them a deck of cards. One of the spectators agrees that
there are no duplicates in the pack and the pack is a full deck.
One of the participants is asked to take about half of the deck and hold the
cards so they could not be disturbed by holding them face down between his
hands - ensuring no one can get to his cards.
The remaining participants look over the half that remains and each one names
any card in the spread he wishes. One by one the three audience members
play the role of the magician by causing their card to invisibly fly through the air
and enter the half of the deck held by the fourth.
After this byplay, the three participants search through their half deck to find
that their selections have indeed disappeared. One by one the participants
name their card, the lady holding the pack of cards searches and finds each
card now in her half. A complete mental teleportation of three cards.
Presentation:
Invite four audience members to join you at the table. Experience has taught
me to use two men and two women. If the table is square, you will stand at one
corner of the table while the four spectators are seated.
Remove the “Teleporter” deck from the box and place the empty box in one
of your pockets. Holding the deck face down, casually spread the top half of
the deck to show the normal backs of the cards. Then turn the deck over and
ribbon spread the cards on the table to show that the deck is a complete and
shuffled. There are no duplicates.
If you like, you can casually shuffle the deck face down by shuffling maybe
about a third of the deck and putting that talon back on top of the face down
deck. If you do this two or three times while addressing the spectators, every-
body will believe that you completely shuffled the deck.
Casually spread through the deck and locate the first card of the regular half.
Give the lower half of the deck (normal cards) to one of the female volunteers
and have her hold her half of the deck between the palms of her hands.
While you explain how you want her to hold her cards, casually turn over the
half deck of cards that remain in your hand (Double Facers). Facing up will now
be an exact set of duplicate cards to what she is holding between her palms.
The remaining three audience members look over the half that remains and
each mentally selects any card they wish. Let them name out loud each card to
make sure that no one accidentally selects an already chosen card. Outjog or
remove the named cards, put them back in at random positions and give this
pack a casual shuffle.
Start with one of the three and have him name the card he thought of. Inform
him that he will now play the role of the magician - causing his card to travel
from the packet you are holding to the packet the lady is holding. “Would you
like to see it travel visibly or invisibly?” Invariably he will want it to go visibly.
At which point, you search through the packet and find his card informing him
that all you’re going to do is hand him the card and have him slip it between
the palms of the lady. After hearing that... he certainly then wants to see it go

invisible card between the palms of the lady. If you have ever worked with an
Invisible Deck, you know how fun this can be. You can tell him that you noticed
he dropped the card and he needs to pick it up again. Or tell him that he should
go in stealth mode so the lady doesn’t see what he is doing, etc.
While all of this is going on, you have plenty of misdirection to turn your hand
and place the flipped over deck onto the table to free up your hands to gesture.
This will secretly switch out all the cards the spectators saw during the selec-
tion process.
Now returning to the second spectator, you ask for the name of his card. Have
him remove the card invisibly from the packet and throw the card across the ta-
ble and between the palms of the lady. Here again you have much room for fun
in your presentation. The lady could wear safety gloves so as not to be paper
cut by the thrown card, etc.
Finally, the third person is asked to invisibly remove his card from your packet.
His will be the most challenging of all as he is to spin the card around the room
in boomerang fashion - having it land between the palms of the lady. Here
again the person lets the
invisible card fly. Follow the imaginary card with your eyes and indicate when
the card has landed between the lady’s palms. “Did the packet get heavier?”
you ask the lady. Any answer she gives will be a funny answer.
“Let’s see if it worked” you say as you spread the packet in your hands. “What
were your cards again?” No one can find their card in the face-up spread. You
look up with excitement to the lady. Her expression is usually priceless.
You put your half of the deck into your card case pocket to free your hands for
taking the packet from the lady.
“Please remove your traveled cards!” you ask. Ribbon spread the remaining
half of the deck on the table and let them find and remove their chosen cards
from the spread one at a time.
