Humanised Parent Presentation –

Script/Handout
Slide-4: What Would You Say to Your Teen? (Activity)
Let’s do a quick activity. You’ll see a few common parenting situations with two possible
responses.

Pick the one that sounds most like what you'd say. This isn’t a test—just a reflection.

Afterward, we’ll look at how these choices connect to fixed or growth mindsets, and what
that means for your teen.

Discussion:

- Did any responses surprise you?

- Do they remind you of conversations at home?

- How could a growth mindset message change how your child sees challenges?

Optional: We'll share a take-home sheet: “10 Phrases That Build a Growth Mindset.”

Slide-5: Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset

At Pathways, we believe in encouraging a growth mindset.

When students learn that mistakes and challenges help them grow, they become more
motivated and confident.

Let’s watch a short video to explore what a growth mindset really looks like.
Slide-11 & 12: E-Assessments: A Glimpse into MYP 5
In MYP 5, students take E-Assessments. Preparation starts now, in MYP 4.

1. On-screen Exams – in core subjects like English, Math, Science, I&S, and Languages. These
test thinking and problem-solving.

2. E-Portfolios – for Arts, PHE, Drama, Design, and MFL speaking tasks. These show creative
and process-based learning.

3. Personal Project – A self-driven project showing planning, reflection, and initiative.

Everything students do this year builds toward these assessments.

Slide-18: Approaches to Learning (ATL Skills)

It’s not just what students learn—but how.

ATL skills support:

- Research

- Critical Thinking

- Organization

- Communication

- Collaboration

These are lifelong skills, not just classroom tools.

Slide-19: Career Counselling

We’ve introduced career counselling in MYP 4 to help students explore their strengths and
interests.
Through these sessions, they begin to:

- Discover what they enjoy

- Make sense of subject choices

- Think ahead about careers and universities

Let’s watch a short video that walks us through this journey.

Slide-20 & 21: Opportunities for Students

Students can explore their passions beyond academics:

- Sports – Mr. Deepak

- Music – Mr. Puneet & Mr. Otieno

- Dance – Mr. Sukarn

- MUN – Ms. Sumita & Ms. Piya

- World Scholar’s Cup – Ms. Parul & Ms. Ashveena

- Student Clubs – Ms. Vishakha

- Interact – Ms. Garima & Ms. Rashi

We encourage students to join and grow through these enriching experiences.

Slide-22: Taking Care of Social & Emotional Needs

These years can be full of emotional ups and downs.

From academic pressure to peer challenges, students are learning to navigate complex
feelings.

We take mental and emotional well-being seriously, and we’re here to support them
alongside you.

Slide-25: The Encouragement Jar (Parent Activity)

A simple way to build your child’s confidence:

Write down one sentence you’d want them to hear when they’re having a tough day.
It could be something you wish someone had told you.

Take a moment now to write it.

Even one encouraging phrase can make a lasting impact.
