Today, in many countries, younger people do not interact with older people as often as they used to.

What
are the reasons for this? How can we improve the situation?
Phuong: Some people claim that young generations today do not engage with old generations as frequently
as they used to.
Tài: Some people are of the claim that in mordern times, young people in many places do not spend much
time with older people like they used to. In this essay, I would explain the reasons leading to this tendency
before proposing some effective solutions.
Dương: Nowadays, in many countries, young people do not talk or spend much time with old people as
they did in the past. There are some reasons for this situation, and I believe there are some ways to solve it.
Yến: In recent years, the interaction between young and old people has been less frequent than it used to
be in the past. This situation is caused by many reasons, and we should have several methods to solve this
problem.
Quỳnh: In many countries today, some people argue that the interaction between the elderly and the
young has been reduced. There are a number of reasons for this gap, and I believe there are ways to
address it.

Tài: A range of factors are responsible for the aforementioned problem. One reason for the decreasing
interaction between young and old people is the rapid evolution of technology. This is because young
people often use social media and messaging apps to communicate and entertain, while older people may
not be used to using these technologies. When they are far away, grandparents may not know how to use
apps to communicate with their grandchildren, making interactions less common. Another factor that
contributes to this situation is the pursuit of individual independence. In the past, people lived in extended
families, with grandparents, parents, and children living under one roof. Today, because of urban migration
and individual independence, there is a shift to nuclear families, which just include parents and children
living together. This leads to less interaction with the older generation.

Dương: One reason why young people do not interact much with older people is that they want to be more
independent. Many young people today prefer to make their own decisions and live their own lives. They
often think that older people are too traditional or give too much advice; therefore, they choose to spend
more time with friends or on their own rather than talking to older family members. Another reason is the
fast development of urbanization. Many young people move to cities to study or work, while older people
usually stay in the countryside or in their hometowns. The busy life in cities, with long working hours and
modern lifestyles, makes it harder for young people to visit or keep in touch with the elderly regularly.

Phương: One reason for this situation is the pursuit of individual independence. This is because in the past,
most people preferred living in extended families, which helped them enhance the bonds between young
and old generations; however, recently urbanization has emerged as a phenomenon, and more and more
individuals prefer moving to urban areas for their personal growth, and the young generation is not an
exception; they prioritize building their own lives, careers, and identities, which can lead them to focus
more on personal growth and less on gathering with their families.

Yến: A range of factors are responsible for the reduction of interaction between young and old people. The
first reason is that young people are pursuing an individual, independent life. In the past, people used to
live in extended families, which included more than 3 generations in a house; nevertheless, with the effect
of urbanization, people now prefer living in nuclear families and leave the old to reside in hometowns. The
busy life in cities, with long working hours and modern lifestyles, makes it harder for young people to visit
or keep in touch with the elderly regularly. Additionally, the rise of social media has led to the lack of
intergenerational interaction. Young people tend to spend their time surfing on social media rather than
talking to their parents and grandparents. This growing problem makes it increasingly difficult for the young
to open up to the old.
One reason why young people do not interact much with older people is because they want to have more space. Therefore, they
prefer to make decisions and live their own lives. Moreover, they think that older people are too traditional or give too much advice,
making them choose to spend more time going outside with friends or someone they like and have the same hobby rather than talk
to older family members. Another reason is the rapid urbanization. Many young people want to find more opportunities to study or
work; as a result, they migrate from rural to urban areas and leave older people to stay in the countryside or in their hometowns
with fresh and peaceful spaces. The busy life in cities, with long working hours and modern lifestyles, makes them unable to
connect with the elderly regularly.
