The Mickey Cobras was founded in 1954 Chicago's west side on the corner of
Roosevelt and Maxwell. But were called the Egyptian Cobras. In 1960 the Egyptian
Cobras moved to the south side of Chicago and changed their name to Egyptian King
Cobras
However James Cogwell
led the Egyptian Cobras
and the Egyptain King Cobras
until 1961 and then passed
to Henry 'Mickey'Cogwell.
Then in 1966 were allianced
with the Black P. Stone
Nation and changed their
name to Cobra Stones.
In the late 60’s the BPSN raised over a million dollars in government funding that
was later proven in 1972 to have been mostly used for illegal endeavors. Cogwell
was reasonable for raising 927,000 from the U.S. office of economic opportunity.
Later in 1972 the government closed Cogwell and the whole BPSN and the leaders were
charged. In 1976 Jeff fort formed the people alliance while in prison right before
his release later that year. Cogwell started to organize the organization even
more. He began to organize the unions for McDonald’s workers and other workers in
fast food by 1976 for the equal treatment of employees.
February 25, 1977, Mickey Cogwell was assassinated by Jeff Fort because he did not
want to be an El Rukn and his followers changed their organization's name again in
late '70s or early '80s, becoming the Mickey Cobras in his honor
